From My Back Porch Looking In

IMG_1197Blog

Saturdays are so fun because the crew is home resting and I can USE the porch!! It is getting very close to completion!! Maybe another week or so – a bit unpredictable with the holiday. Our new front door should be coming this week, but the back door had an ordering problem, so it’s about a week behind. We also have lots of painting and staining to do, although we need to wait on some of the staining so the floor wood can cure.

We’re going for rustic barn meets Craftsman cottage. Our designer, Andres, did an amazing job!

IMG_1198Blog

I requested very shallow and wide steps…they are a DREAM to walk up and down!! SO much better than our rickety cement steps of yestermonth.

IMG_1199Blog

And beadboard!!

IMG_1201Blog

The beginnings of paint! We’re doing white on all the upper parts. For ultimate beach cottage feel.

IMG_1189Blog

I cannot believe we get to live on this porch. It is so much grander than I ever could have imagined, and I thank Andres’s strategic design for that!

IMG_1191Blog

IMG_1204Blog

Luckily my oats didn’t get cold while I photographed the porch. Because they were already chilled!

IMG_1203Blog

Simple overnight oats with banana, sunflower butter, chia and crumbled Hungry Bar.

IMG_1206Blog

IMG_1182Blog

Choffy!! Much more like hot chocolate than coffee. But nice and roasty!

It’s so beautiful! Is that screening in the openings, or will it be glass? Or both? It looks like screen in the photos but I’m not sure.

I always wanted to live in a house with a porch. I live in SoCal and I didn’t see a lot of houses while growing up with porches but I do see them when I travel elsewhere. I would love a porch like that in the future. Love the extension of the outdoors but within the comforts of your own home.
