You are here: Home / Weekend / FLAT TIRE!!

June 18, 2009

FLAT TIRE!!

My poor bike had to be left at the Y – his tire is totally flat!

It was fine when I arrived at the Y (thank goodness it didn’t go flat while I was on it – that happened to me in high school and I wiped out!). I went in and did 45 minutes on the Squirrelliptical and did some hard-core pull-ups, dips and jumping lunges before I went back outside. I noticed a strange crunching and discovered the tire. I realized I’d have to walk the 2.2. miles back home, so I left it there and hit the road.

2.2 isn’t that far, but I was tired, hot and getting hungry! The sun was super bright too. And I had my tote bag with me. A little ways in I realized it would go faster if I ran, so I ran about 2 miles with my tote bag on my shoulder. It wasn’t fun!

FINALLY home and red in the face, I took a cold shower, put on my tube top and came down to cool off in the fan before making lunch.

I planned this lunch on my run home –

IMG_7840 (1024x768)

Minty Tofu Cantaloupe Soup

IMG_7847 (1024x768)

I LOVE bubbles and foam in blended things –

IMG_7848 (1024x768)

Blend together:

  • 2 cups roughly chopped canteloupe (use 1.5 cup for smaller pieces)
  • 1/2 block silken light tofu
  • 1/3 cup milk of your choice
  • Squirt honey
  • 6 mint leaves
  • Big handful ice

Eat as soup or smoothie!

IMG_7843 (1024x768)

On the side I had a piece of Flax Oat Bran with Laughing Cow and jam

IMG_7845 (1024x768)

IMG_7846 (1024x768)

It was so filling and refreshing. High in volume, but not in calories, so I’ll probably have an earlier snack in a bit.

We’ve been working hard on SUMMIT stuff!! Sorry it’s taking a while to announce, but we have to have all of our ducks in line first.

We’re going out with friends for free appetizers and drinks at a restaurant tonight who is having a patio party. Then coming back home for dinner.

See ya then!

Sorry about your bike, a 2.2 mile walk sounds kind of nice though, as long as it wasn’t raining like it is here!

Too bad about the bike tire! Running with a bag on your shoulder is the worst, all that bumping gets a little painful! Haha.
It sure led you to think up a creative lunch though! Super summery.

Enjoy the patio night, free food is always good with me 🙂

Sorry about the flat. But Yea for You! for having the energy and endurance to run home with a tote in tow.

I just started eating Laughing Cow again after seeing it appear in many of the food blogs. Didn’t realize that there’s only 50 calories per wedge, and one goes along way. Very tasty as well.

OMG that soup looks delicious! Definitely a great way to cool down after your workout. Sorry to hear about the bike tire though. I’m just glad you weren’t hurt!

    Two ?’s for you:
1 – Do you think it’s important to drink organic cow’s milk as opposed to conventional cow’s milk? Which do you choose?
2 – When you add the Amazing Grass packets to your smoothies, do you add the packet, or only part of it?

    Welcome back!

    Jessica ,
I also wondered if it might be a skirt…

Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope,
I do choose organic dairy, but if the store brand says “hormone and antibiotic free” I sometimes choose that. Since organic milk isn’t that much more expensive than regular, I think it’s important to support the industry. I think the differential is greater in meat and produce, so it’s harder for me to choose it because it’s so much more expensive.

    Whole packet!!

    Lydia ,
No because I eat a balanced diet with dairy and meat frequently enough.

Yes. I just don’t care for it in the summer because of the dark windowless room.
