Flapjack Fiesta

Fun fun fun workout + dinner!!!

After wrapping up things at home, I headed to Emily‘s across town for a weight circuit workout!

IMG_3022 (800x600)

She had it all planned out. We did all of these exercises 10x twice. And mixed in plyometrics and DANCE in between sets. The hardest were the burpees – and the chin ups on her new bar! We both managed about 10 chin ups, but not all at once.

Have I mentioned that I hate weights? This was FUN though. Emily has lots of weight experience and I loved having a partner.

IMG_3024 (800x600)

After our circuit (which lasted about 45 minutes) we took the dogs for a 2 mile snowy run! It was more like a jog, but just the way to end on a sweaty note.

KERF <3 dogs 😉

IMG_3005 (800x600)

[By the way, can’t believe it’s SNOWING here and we have about 2 inches on the grass. Crazy!!!]

After refreshing showers, we donned our GAP Long + Lean jeans, Target slippers and hoodies to for a flapjack fiesta!

IMG_7148 (640x427)

Mocktails for the chefs!

IMG_7163 (640x427)

IMG_3013 (800x600)

On the menu: Fiesta Flapjacks!!! <— Link to recipe page with all the details!!

IMG_7168 (640x427)

Inspired by Caitlin‘s savory pancakes last week, I knew these were going on the menu ASAP!

Kodiak cakes served as the perfect base 🙂

IMG_7152 (640x427)

We chopped up some veggies

IMG_7150 (427x640)

Stirred in veggies and black beans into the mix

IMG_7158 (427x640)

Cooking!

IMG_7165 (640x427)

Sautéed veggies on the side: corn, tomatoes, beans, peppers and a little Mexican herb seasoning

IMG_7160 (640x427)

I was sent this Don Sabrosa salsa to review recently. Thought tonight was a good time since dinner involved black beans + corn too! Being an onion-hater, I am very weary of salsas, but I’m thrilled to report I loved this one!!!!!!! The onions were dehydrated and didn’t bother me at all. Only wish it were a little spicier!

IMG_7153 (640x427)

Sampled on a few handfuls of chip crumbs while we cooked

IMG_7161 (640x427)

OMGgggggggggg….

IMG_7181 (640x427)

IMG_7183 (640x427)

The veggies were perfectly cooked too. The maters popped in my mouth!

IMG_7180 (640x427)

IMG_7168 (640x427)

IMG_7167 (640x427)

IMG_7172 (640x427)

IMG_7175 (640x427)

Sooo delicious, but also sooo filling. I actually only ate 2.25 pancakes before putting down my fork and proclaiming fullness!

Report From Napa

Matt encountered the president of Naturally Nutty!!! My HERO! And is having fun at the Russian River Brewery.

Guess he’s over his food poisoning!

It’s past my bedtime. Goodnight loves!

I have to say that I was quite hesitant about savory pancakes when I saw them on Caitlin’s blog but you may have convinced me to give them a shot. They look so good!!
I love POM!! I know you have probably said but what do you mix it with to make your mocktail?

That sounds like a TOUGH workout!! But those are the best 🙂

I LOVE the chalkboard full of exercises–cute! It reminds me of the chalkboard my dad hung up for me when I was little and I pretended I was a teacher.

I’ve got those Tar-jay slippers too! So comfy!

    Lovely pancake dinner!

I just can’t get into savory pancakes for some reason…or oatmeal for that matter. I want my oatmeal to be sweet and dessert like…

The table looks lovely though. Also, I’m sooooo happy it’s snowing in NC instead of Pittsburgh haha. We’ve had enough snow!!

I have a new pair of Gap long & lean jeans too, and I really *want* to love them. BUT. They fit me *perfectly* for about an hour after washing, and then they get all stretched out – saggy and baggy – around the waist, thighs, and bum. Have you had any trouble like that with them? Any tips? Is it worth trying to buy a size “too small” so they’ll fit once stretched out? Anyone tried this?
