Blankets + Jars

Woke up to a blanket of snow!!

IMG_7199 (640x427)

But the roads are totally clear. We’re "hovering at 34*" the weather people say. Schools are in and the health fair I’m attending today is ON.

So was my trip to the gym! Since yesterday was hard weights (although I’m not sore…yet) and tomorrow is a big run, I kept it easy with 45 minutes on the elliptical with a magazine. Then some foam rolling and stretching. Piece-a-cake. I actually woke up quite alert at 4:55 even though I had 30 more minutes to sleep!

Today was one of those days where when it was time for breakfast I felt like my stomach was going to be a sponge and just soak up all the oats!!

Luckily this guy came out to play:

IMG_7186 (640x427)

IMG_7190 (427x640)

The Mix:

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
  • Pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin, stirred in at end
  • Cinnamon + vanilla
  • Hemp Plus granola
  • TJ’s PB residue!

IMG_7191 (427x640)

The best part!

IMG_7192 (640x427)

IMG_7193 (640x427)

Red Hot Chile Peppers?

IMG_7195 (640x427)

So delish!

Apparently today is Omega-3 Awareness Day!? Three cheers for flax, walnuts, salmon, tuna, and CHIA SEEDS!

***

I’m working at a health fair until lunchtime, then going to the office for the afternoon, then another girl’s night dinner out with my girlfriends!

Guess who comes home late, late tonight!

Have a good one!

No, I don’t think my oats are hot enough when I put them in to really melt anything. And I also have this once a month at the most (in plastic) so it’s not a daily activity

I had my first try at eating something in my peanut butter jar yesterday…I made a quinoa mousse and fell in love with eating it out of the peanut butter jar. I actually hid the jar so no one would throw it in the recycling! So yummy! The warmed up peanut butter gets all swirled around when you eat it…my mouth is watering just thinking about it! We had the snow here all day yesterday, but since it is so warm everything is as usual. Have a great day, I am sure it will be since your other half is returning!

Hmmm, coincidence?? More reason to get your Omega-3’s from foods not supplements!! That’s funny that school even would be canceled with that little amount of snow! That’s one thing that sucks for us Canadians – at least us people in Alberta. We never get snow days because we’re used to the snow. It could be blizzarding outside and the boss still expects you at work!

I have never heard of Omega=3 day, but hooray for any day that brings awareness of healthy things! I had to laugh a bit at your snow, because here in the “chilly north” of Toronto, we are holding at about 40F and people are outside with no jackets and with their car windows rolled down! Your oats in a jar looks like the perfect way to finish our PB before we leave for vacation, thanks for the reminder!

Okay… my BIG question: How did you make OIAPJ (Oats in a plastic jar) without melting the plastic. Did you cook the oats separately and pour them into the jar. This may be a lame Q, but I just don’t think it’s the same without melting the PB in the jar… which seems impossible…. ugh.
