Finishing Touches

You’d think that we’d be done with house stuff by now but things just keep on popping up!!! We made a few more minor repairs. Made closets look even more organized. Super-glued a ceiling fan piece back together (hope it holds!). Cleaned the bathroom ceiling again because something is causing caramel-looking droplets to form (that bathroom is now forbidden from being used for showers).

In fact, the two guest bedrooms and guest bath are now off limits to humans.

After all that, we’re still in our PJs!!!

We had lunch at 1PM and are digesting before we go workout later on and then head up to Kelsey‘s.

I made a Hugh Jass salad topped with Kelsey‘s goat cheese balls of last weekend plus a drizzle of agave and EVOO for dressing.

Plus Oikos mixed with 1/2 a cup of pumpkin, flax and Mix My Granola

BYW, the SNOW is completely GONE!

Happy Saturday!

Ok weird, this keeps happening…I never have greek yogurt for lunch, randomly I decided to today (topped with granola!) – and you do too!! It’s that great minds think alike thing again 😛
    Have a good afternoon!

I’m not a huge salad fan, but that one looks delish. And I totally became an Oikos addict after all the free smaples they handed out at the US Open. . . hmm, wonder what addiction I’ll come back from the Winter Olympics with?

I always have those caramel-colored droplets on my bathroom ceiling. My home is more than 50-60 years old, so I’ve always attributed them to the ceiling being made from perhaps some other type of material than the present. :-/ Oh well, I hope you get your house sold soon! Your lunch looks great!

I was going to leave a regular comment, but this seems more appropriate of a place. The caramel colored drops are normal, you can just wipe them off, no harm done. It’s usually oil coming through the paint. Increasing the ventilation in the bathroom should help. Good luck!

Hey Kath, we have those carmel spots too! I had them in my old apt as well. Drove me nutts. From what I gather its from previous smokers. If you run into it again you need to prime your walls with a primer made to cover smoke. EWW! http://www99.epinions.com/content_370497195652. Good luck with the house! cheers

We got the caramel spots in our bathroom, too. I don’t know if the previous owners/renters smoked or not. I always assumed it was because we didn’t have a vent in there.

So those caramel-colored spots? They typically result from too much condensation – aka, not enough ventilation. I know it is snowy out there right now, but for future reference, if the bathroom does not have a fan, then opening a window for the duration of the shower (+ 30 minutes afterwards) works really well. Ideally, however, you should have a fan/vent in the bathroom. A fan/vent in the bathroom not only would suck in the moisture, but in doing so make it less likely that the wooden frames around your door and window will warp.

And, in case that wasn’t enough info, if you have a wood ceiling, the knots in the wood boards can make the caramel-spots worse. And the wood ceiling can warp from lack of a ventilation system.
