Find The Light

IMG_1256

Definitely a day to hit up the indoor activities. It’s been pouring all morning. I hear there’s sunshine on the menu for tomorrow though!!

Karen is a trooper for trying out group exercise. She joined me for a cycle class today. She made it through half of the class and then slipped out for some track walking. She said there will be a next time, and she is also willing to try BodyPump too!

The cycle was was DIY, so I was not a huge fan. I need to be challenged and guided. If I wanted to make up my own workout I wouldn’t have come to group exercise… but thankfully I was experienced enough to make up my own workout and got a pretty good one in. My legs are tired!

Before I left I had a crusty Turkish fig (LOVE these!) and a date

Home. For. Lunch.

IMG_1253

IMG_1240

I made a cheddar + peach jam sandwich

IMG_1242

With fruit and veg (and a tsp of almond butter for the veg)

IMG_1245 IMG_1244

And a mug of leftover lentil soup

IMG_1248

I think I ate too fast because my stomach is all in gas knots right now!

IMG_1251

What’s a food blogger to do when it rains?

Check out Ashley’s (on The Edible Perspective) paper towel idea for adding light to photos. Also, Ashley ( on (never home) maker) posted recently about making your own light box. Both are great, easy, cheap options for dealing with low light situations.

I’m discovering that I now suffer from stomach-in-knots from eating too fast. :-/

Mmm cheese and jam sounds delicious right now! I’m baffled that they would have a group exercise class where you “do what you want.” I thought the point was to workout as a group under instruction. Otherwise, isn’t it just like going to a crowded gym?

Oh I am so not a fan of when they leave you up to your own devices in spinning class. Good reminder to eat slow, I wish someone could sit here and remind me every time I eat. You can eat the healthiest thing in the world but if you shove it down too fast you get a stomach ache. Grr.

I love cheddar and jam sandwiches, or Swiss and jam. The combination of salty and sweet and savory is just right.

We’re having a cloudy and rainy day too, which is sad because I was hoping to take some photos today, but our house is quite dark. Have you ever used a light box?

I seriosly love everything you make. I can’t wait to be able to go to the farmers market here in San Luis Obispo and make my own food! I am a freshman in college here, so it’s dorm eating for me, though it isn’t too bad. I miss my rolled oats though, I have to make instant now. Anyways, once I get a kitchen again I will try to cook more!
