Every So Often

Guess what time it is again?

IMG_5872Blog

Travel time. It seems to just pop up every so often.

I’m not thrilled to be leaving [because I have SO much to do at home for the bakery] but in some ways it will be nice to get away. And have my own hotel room. And meet some new blog friends! [And some old ones : ) ]

I depart at noon for Fairfax, VA for the Virginia Dietetics Association annual meeting. Gotta stay up to date on the research and my continuing education! [Although, you know how I’m such an anti-procrastinator? After this weekend I’ll be halfway through the continuing ed that I have 5 years to complete in 9 months!]

This morning I made Scottish oats again. I almost made a smoothie but it was |thismuch| too cold outside.

IMG_5871Blog

Manna bread rules!!

IMG_5880Blog

Maranatha almond butter isn’t my very favorite in flavor, but MAN does it melt!! Look at that puddle of goo!

IMG_5883Blog-2

The Mix

  • 1/4 cup Scottish oats [I am loving the Scottish oats, but I also miss rolled. My favorite combo is mixing them but we are all out of rolled!]
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 2 tbsp pumpkin
  • Coconut
  • Faith’s manna bread
  • Maranatha AB

My pajama pants make an excellent sun shield for indirect light! Today was also an off day for my camera. Just not feelin the groove!

Small cup, half full

Matt and I are going on a Sunday morning walk and then I’ll see you from NOVA!

Unfortunately, I am such a procrastinator! Its very impressive that you are half way through your continuing education. I probably would have waited until the final year to cram everything in. Such a bad habit that I have- wish I could change it.

Have a good trip to Fairfax!

Inspired by your anti-procrastination! What do you do on mornings when you just can’t get moving? I fly out the door at 7:00am every week day morning so I just can’t seem to get things done on weekends. But I want to!!! Enjoy your weekend conference, and teach us all kinds of interesting healthy food stuff when you get back.

I am the exact same way! Definitely an anti-procrastinator. I hate being stressed out at the last minute, so I make sure I plan ahead and get everything done WAY before schedule. I honestly love that about myself! 🙂

Ahh, those are adorable sleep pants! I actually have similar-looking ones… although I think blue stripes are probably pretty common. 😉

I love Maranatha Roasted Almond Butter! Blue Diamond is “richer” tasting, but MN is my fave.

Your a traveling machine. Do you find the complimentary courses beneficial for you given that your not the “typcial” in-house dietitian? I see you more as baker/blogger, etc. Although – then again – you do your freelancing for nutrition!

    Hi Kath!

I have been reading your blog on a regular basis for the past 2-3 months and I LOVE IT! I have never been much of a blog reader but yours has changed my mind. I love reading/seeing all of the different healthy meals you prepare. You have inspired me to start cooking again. For awhile I was living off of frozen Trader Joe’s meals, which I don’t think they are THAT bad for you, but there is nothing like cooking your own dinner as opposed to heating it up in the microwave! And your oatmeal . . . IS TO DIE FOR! I have always had trouble finding a filling and healthy breakfast (as I don’t like eggs . . . I know, shame) but your oatmeal keeps me full until lunch with all of the add-ins. And I LOVE the organization of your blog. I think I have been turned off of blogs in the past because some are arranged so hap-hazardly (and there is nothing worse than an ugly website) but your’s is organized, colorful and easy to read.

Keep up the great work and congrats on all of your success, you deserve it!

    -MLK

P.S. I have even stopped into my local Great Harvest for bread . . . AMAZING!

I’m currently sick and nursing a sore-throat and all i’ve been thinking about and doing is drinkingwarm, hot tea… and when I saw the mug I was like “i need to be drinking my tea out of THAT mug *right now*!”

Talk about an impulse buy… but it felt so fun to gain a new piece!

I have been ALL ABOUT the Scottish oats lately – ever since I got home from Singapore & was dreaming about the fantastic oatmeal in the hotel buffet there. I think I’ve mastered their technique – oats cooked with milk & a sprinkle of sugar cooked super low and stirred well. Super sweet & creamy!

Have fun in Northern Virginia and dont worry about your priorities for a little while, because they will still be there when you get back….thats the thing about to-do lists they are always there when you get back to them, they are so dependable like that.
