Every Herb Canned Salmon Salad

This canned salmon salad blends my favorite herbs with yogurt, olive oil and lemon juice perfect for mixing with salmon and dipping!

Every Herb Salmon Salad // Kath Eats Real Food

Every Herb Canned Salmon Salad

It seems the older I get, the more and more I love fresh herbs! My favorites are a tie between rosemary and dill, but I also love Italian parsley, thyme, and basil. All of the above were picked from this year’s herb garden!

Last summer, I created this Every Herb Salad Dressing that blends all my favorite herbs with yogurt, olive oil and lemon juice for a bright and creamy dressing. Today’s salmon salad was inspired by that!

I generally like a combination of yogurt and mayo in my fishy salads (tuna, salmon, sardine). The yogurt brightens and lightens, but using some mayo provides a richness that yogurt alone cannot create.

I am partnering with the new KRAFT Avocado Oil Mayo for this post as a healthy swap to traditional mayonnaise. Made with — you guessed it — avocado oil,  it has a healthier fat profile than typical mayo, which is often made from soybean oil. The KRAFT Avocado Oil Mayo contains 232 mg of Omega-3 alpha-Linolenic acid in every serving, and it’s also made from cage-free whole eggs*, for which I give a huge thumbs up. It tastes great, too! It’s the first mainstream avocado oil mayo product to hit the market with an affordable price point.

How to Make It

This recipe is very easy: chop your veggies and herbs and combine with tinned salmon, yogurt, mayo, mustard, and salt and pepper in a bowl. Mix and eat!

I put a serving size of 2 on this for lunches, but you could also serve it as a party dip or picnic spread.

Thanks to the variety of herbs in each bite, your brain will think, “There’s some dill! OH — thyme! Mmmm basil. Oh and a hint of rosemary in there!” #herbpartyinyourmouth

I’m a long time blog reader who found out she liked sardines thanks to you! This looks like another great recipe and I’m excited to see a mayo product with A healthier profile. My hope is that we continue to see changes like this in many more products in the near future!

This looks delicious. I think a squeeze of lemon juice would be good too. We make our chicken salad with mashed avocado and lime juice instead of mayo these days but adding a little avocado mayo would be a nice change! I just planted a boatload of herbs this past weekend so I’m psyched to try this!

So excited to see the avocado mayo from kraft. The only other avocado oil mayo I’ve seen is a bit on the pricey side so this is refreshing to see mainstream brands taking a step in this direction!

My favorite substitution actually came from Oh She Glows – this past weekend we wanted to take a packed dinner for the road and since we eat too much tuna we soaked almonds all day and then put them in the food processor. We made the same recipe as always, just swapped out the tuna for the chopped almonds. It was SO good and a refreshing change.

I’ve been loving fish salads lately with the addition of finely chopped carrots and bell pepper to add some bulk and crunch! My favourite substitution in my life has been vinegar and baking soda as cleaning products! They seriously clean EVERYTHING. Adding a cup of vinegar to the wash cycle (no detergent) once in a while to freshen them up? Most life changing thing I’ve done haha…

That recipe sounds REALLY good! I’m putting the mayo on my shopping list.

For healthy subs, I swapped cream sauces for hummus on baked chicken! It doesn’t really sound appetizing, but it’s delicious. Just bake the chicken & add hummus for the last 5 minutes or so. SO good.

I try to use thick plain yogurt as a condiment as often as possible. Most nights I put a scoop on the plate…it works for so many things and can mix with other sauces and spices. I eat it with pasta, fish/chicken, as a sandwich or burger spread, dip for veggies, on toast, in place of or with sour cream.

I love to use yogurt as a replacement for mayo, sour cream, etc. to make things creamy (tuna salad, dressings, soups, etc) and as a way to cut back on salt intake I love to use fresh herbs and spices! With all that flavor, there is no need for the salt!
