Dreary All Around

Hi Guys! Everything is going fine with the exception of the fact that I am pretty much soaked . So is my bag 🙁 You know I have melting problems in rain, so this is quite challenging

 this !
I was smart to wear a skirt today because legs dry quickly, but my little green loafers have no hope of drying anytime soon. They are under the table with paper towels until I have to get going for my next class.

DSC03150

After Nutrition in the Lifespan, which was cool because that professor is awsome! , I went to the gym for my workout. I forgot all entertainment though! No Ipod, headphones for the TVs or magazines. Or even a textbook!! So I watched HGTV in silence. I still managed 35 minutes on the ET , followed by 10 labs around the indoor track, alternating jogging and sprinting . I did some lazy abs and hit the showers.

I wanted to shoot myself in the wet foot for leaving my lunch in the car . I didn’t realize what a hassle it would be to go back to my car. The plan was to exchange my workout bag for my lunch, but I wish I had my lunch so I could have just carried everything and avoided the long wet walk. Oh well!

I was starving when I finally sat down to eat in my favorite little lounge in one of the academic buildings. And I still am starving 20 minutes later. SETTLE, food, settle!!

Looks like the era of dreary and boring lunch photos as returned….

A homemade bagel , just plain because toppings were too much work last night –

DSC03147

A fantastic plum –

DSC03148

3 organic CSA carrots . They are short and fat. I haven’t really been able to tell a difference in taste between the organic CSA stuff and regular, but the carrots are definitely different. However, I don’t prefer them! They have a strong, almost metallic taste. Strange.

DSC03149

And Chobani Vanilla with some TJ Fiber Worms .

DSC03151

I sure hope my hunger goes away soon, because I am NOT feeling full.

DSC03146

Gotta go get to work on these early assignments!

I’ll leave you all with something a little more cheerful: our baby photos!!!!! This is a slideshow made for our wedding DVD. I used to watch the TLC show A Wedding Story ALL THE TIME when I was in high school and always wanted to be on it. The husband said "absolutely not" when the real thing actually came around, so I settled for the theme song

Don’t stare at the husband naked too long!

What a sweet video! The first song, “Today I Met…,” I love that song. It reminded me of Father of the Bride! You will treasure that forever…I had a similar video made for my hubby for our 10th anniversary, 3 yrs. ago, and we still watch it. There’s something about putting the pictures to music that makes it so much more beautiful.
I hope you dry out today! I know what you mean, I hate being wet. 🙁

Frequent reader, not so frequent commenter. That lunch looks plenty voluminous so I couldn’t believe you were still still hungry! But I looked again and there’s almost no fat in that meal!?! I bet the addition of a little pb to the bagel would have filled you right up. Just my opinion.

    Kath,
You are too funny with your little green loafers drying under the table. They are soo cute though. Where did you get them? Anyways, I love the video. You will cherish that forever. About your lunch, maybe you needed a little more protein.

Oh my goodness… the one of you in the little red bathing suit with the spray hose has to be the cutest things I’ve ever seen. You look like you are the happiest kid in the entire world!

I want to know where you got the loafers, too!!

You’re probably still catching up from a whirlwind weekend and a TON of exercise… after weekends like that I’m ALWAYS starving!

I should have added that I’ve been struggling with this recently and am trying to add more fat to my diet in the hopes that I’ll stay full longer. Once you become ruled by “lowfat” it actually gets scary to add it back in. I’m sure many readers have experienced the same thing. So far, so good, and I do find that making sure I have just a couple more grams of fat (the difference between reduced fat and regular cheese) does give my food more staying power.

I love how when you told us about your exercise today you said you ran “labs” instead of laps. I know it was just a typo, but with school and labs and things starting, maybe you just have labs on the brain! 😉

UGH… I hate being wet from rain and I hate when I forget entertainment at the gym.. but it seems like you made do and still got in a good work-out.

The video of you and the husband got me a little teary eyed. I am a hopeless romantic and music with pictures of people growing up (like the ones they do at weddings or graduations) always seem to make me cry. 🙂

    Kath,

Was the second to last photo taken by the fountain in forsyth park in savannah? I go to school there (savannah, not the fountain!)…after seeing that photo I’m ready to return! All pictures were adorable!!!

    Julie,

I found the easiest way form for me to incorporate fat back into my diet was eating at LEAST a serving of peanut butter once a day! Also, avocado makes a great replacement for cheese, and it’s healthier than full fat cheese!

Maybe you do not feel full because of too many carbs and not enough protein to balance out. I am not anti-carb or anything but I find that if I do not balance carbs with some protein (in your case bagel w/o topping of nut butter, hummus or cheese etc.) I just do not feel full. Just an idea.

Good luck this semester. I feel nervous too myself. Due today with my 3rd child and a PhD candidate working on my dissertation. A lot going on that is for sure.

    take care.

    Cait,

iMovie for Macs is my absolute favorite to use for things like that. It is very intuitive and you can include pictures as well as video. Picasa also allows you to make a movie of your photos but I do not believe it allows you to add music.

I’m pretty sure the Chobani with its million of grams of protein should take care of Kath’s protein balance… I’m with you all on the fats, they are clutch for satiety!

I agree w/ everyone else, the meal was too low in nutritious fats to keep you feeling full. I would’ve needed more protein than just the greek yogurt too, but everyone is different w/ that. It might have been on the low end of calories after running some sprints and your workout as well. I tend to need to eat my biggest meal after a workout just to prevent hunger pains rattling my body for the rest of the day!

Hope the rain lets up soon….

Attn! Kath and all of your readers!! I just found the new Kashi strawberry with flax frozen waffles. RUN, don’t walk, to find a box (or 2!) of these. Oh they are way better than the blueberry even! I put some peanut butter on it, but honestly I think I’ll try it plain next time to get the full flavor of the strawberries.

NOt sure if someone already said this b/c I didn’t read through all 44 comments, but I just LOVE the halloween photo of you as the witch and your sister as the bunny. As they say in the South, that is too precious.

Also, the best/quickest way to dry shoes is to put crumpled newspaper inside. I’m doing this right now because I ran in the rain this morning.

    All,
I’m sure both fat and protein would have been good. But I think what I was missing was volume in the form for vegetables. A big salad perhaps. I’m just not used to smaller packed lunches.

    Green Loafer,
LANDS END. And I LOOOOVE them. They are so comfortable and I get tons of compliments on the color 8) .

    Katrina ,
Hahha – got catch!! I must have had a busy brain

    Deb ,
7 years!! The Super Hero shot was freshman year, so was the out-of-timeline one of me in a red top and him with sunglasses on his head.

    Cait ,
That one was done by our videographer but I use Windows Movie Maker for my other photo slideshows and it’s great.

    Meghan ,
Actually that was taken at our apartment complex in South Charlotte!! The day we got engaged. But I love Savannah 🙂

    sunsparklejl,
Definitely the SouthPark store. Let me know if you want to do lunch there!

    Lindsey,
And I have so many friends myself!! You guys are the best!

    Emily ,
    YUM! Thanks for the tip!

    athensfoodie ,
That is MY all-time favorite photo of me younger (and Larbs) too. I just love the action in the shot. She used to love carrots and I hated them and she carried one around in her bunny costume and I thought it was gross. I was Dorothy in the Wiz of Oz and thought the witch was cool that year 😉
