Dogs + Bees Can Smell Fear

I had a busy day, although I didn’t really accomplish much.

I had my meeting with Mary this AM (cool things unveiling next week-ish) and then headed over to Kelsey’s new crib to meet PENNY!!!!

IMG_9959 (1024x768)

She was a doll! Look at her hiding in the pillows. She has more personality than any dog I’ve ever met! She licked me and literally played WITH me. Put her paws out. Can’t wait to go play some more. Hoping I can be in the wedding party for her marriage to Gilbert someday.

IMG_9958 (1024x768)

After our playing, Kelsey and I went to Yoga One.

IMG_9962 (1024x768)

It was almost noon so I had a few nuts. Shouldda had a bigger snack because I was famished afterwards but I wasn’t hungry. Yogurt did good!

IMG_9961 (1024x768)

Yoga rocked. It was delicious and I was rubbery. My shoulders feel a million times better!

I rushed home, changed out of my wet clothes, and wolfed down this amazing salad.

IMG_9965 (1024x768)

Romaine, green pepper, balsamic, leftover noodle salad, cilantro hummus and avocado.

IMG_9967 (1024x768)

Served with a pizza crust roll, which was baked with the leftover pizza crust from Monday night’s dough. Delish!

IMG_9968 (1024x768)

And some Tazo iced tea.

IMG_9969 (1024x768)

I was shaking with hunger, but this salad was too much for my empty stomach at once and it left me rather uncomfortable with my stomach sticking out a mile!

IMG_9964 (1024x768)

Do you spy a naughty orange cup!? I told you he leaves them everywhere!

IMG_9963 (1024x768)

Bee Careful…

I went out to mow the grass after lunch and was doing fine until I happened to look down and see a hole with BEES swarming out of it!!! I ditched the mower and ran.

this !

IMG_9970 (1024x768)

About 10,000 bees were flying all around the mower. I wanted to finish the back yard but we couldn’t get to the mower! Google said to wait until dark to approach the nest (Follow the whole event recap on my Twitter feed @KathEats!)

Matt thought the bees wouldn’t be able to see him behind the bushes. He sprayed some wasp killer from a distance and I think that helped some…

IMG_9972 (1024x768)

But then we decided to rescue the mower. He put on a full bee suit…

IMG_9973 (1024x768)

And was going to rope in the mower with a hoe

IMG_9974 (1024x768)

But he decided that was too dangerous and changed his plan of attack to run through the mower and keep running until he was free of bees.

IT WORKED!!!!

Here is the video! (Blog too annoying today to embed)

Crisis averted.

My favorite it tazo passion tea – I don’t usually like fruity ones, but this is amazing!

135. Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope  |  July 29th, 2009 at 8:47 pm

Great dinner! And those kale t-shirts are hilarious. Love them!

Teas? I think my favorite is green tea. I just love the subtle flavor and health benefits!

366. Jennifer  |  July 30th, 2009 at 9:37 am

Hmm, hard to pick a favorite tea, I used to work at a Teavana and have a huge basket of teas but I think my favorite is a mix of Rooibos Sweet Amore and Rose Marzipan black tea…so yummy!

Congrats guys! Please send me an email with your mailing address and contact info.

Is the bee’s nest underground? If so, there is a whole different approach to getting rid of the nest (you can’t just spray them). Sorry, but I can’t remember what it is!

YEs, KERF has been very slow for me today…

I admire the fact that even though you’re famished after working out you always put something healthy together. Sometimes I feel like the Tazmanian devil hoovering up anything I can find after a long workout. Next time that happens I’ll challenge my inner KERF.

That whole incident sounds super scary and funny too! Matt in the bee outfit was hilarious! Seriously, funniest post ever. I love this blog!

Just one note of caution though: the number of bees are in steep decline all over the world, so we all should lay off the wasp killing spray, as we really don’t want to be killing bees. Without them nothing gets pollinated and we don’t get any food!

Way to go, Matt! And Penny is just too cute!

Once when I was younger I was playing hide and go seek in the woods and I accidently sat on a bees nest. It was more scary than anything else and thankfully I didn’t end up with that many stings.

We sprayed ether (from the automotive dept.) on a wasp nest one time. It put them to sleep until my husband got it out of the bush.

hahahahah! I’m laughing because my mom tells a similar story about my dad. Early in the marriage when they first bought a hose, my dad was so excited to mow HIS OWN lawn. I guess he was a little TOO excited, because he didn’t realize he mowed over a bees next! Unlike you, he wasn’t as fortunate! They FLEW UP HIS PANTS and stung him multiple times. OUCH. For the next few months, my dad mowed the lawn with jeans tucked into combat boots and a ski mask – no wonder their neighbors thought they were crazy 😉
