Dog Bone It!

The latest item to hit the shelves of Great Harvest Cville!?

IMG_1809 (640x427)

Dog treats!

IMG_1810 (427x640)

Healthy for dogs.

IMG_1811 (640x427)

Delicious enough for humans!

IMG_1812 (640x427)

They taste like a cracker minus the salt. Ingredients: 100% whole wheat flour, water, butter, eggs, milk. [Real food, dog safe.]

Just took my lunch break after bagging tons of bread.

IMG_1818 (640x427)

I had garden lettuce with olive oil and vinegar and honey peanuts (FYI, honey does not wilt lettuce, but vinegar does!)

IMG_1819 (640x427)

And a cup of yogurt with flax and strawbs!

IMG_1816 (640x427)IMG_1817 (640x427)

The placemat is a vintage calorie chart my grandmother found for me when I went back to school to become an RD!

IMG_1813 (640x427)IMG_1818 (640x427)

Mid-morning snack and dessert – Savannah bar edges!

IMG_1820 (640x427)IMG_1821 (640x427)

You can guess who played a role in securing these for me!

Back to the grind [our whole wheat flour!]

Haha – gotta love that Allie 😉

Also I ADORE that placemat – what a perfect idea for a gift. Your grandmother rocks.

I had strawberries this morning and seriously debated having them plopped in a big bowl of yogurt. I put them over waffles instead with a yogurt topping – but seeing your bowl there confirms that my first thought would’ve been a good idea 🙂

    HAPPY HUMP DAY!

It’s funny; I noticed the size as well. I guess because my dog is under 20 lbs. Not sure if GH controls the flavors, but if not, you should try peanut butter & cheese varities. I make those at home and my dog loves them.

Yesterday I tried something and thought of you.
To leftover cold Coach’s Oats Cracked n’ Toasted Oats, which I get at Costco,
I added fresh strawberries, plain low-fat yogurt, chia seeds, which I got from your Sky, and
    a drizzle of blue agave.
The oatmeal had hardened to a tofu texture.
I found that even cold oatmeal is really good. 🙂

Are dogs meant to consume milk? I was told by out vet not to give our hounds milk as they are unable to digest it properly. I suppose that it could be subbed out with non dairy milk and the butter with a similar product.

Hmm… wheat is actually one of the most common allergies for dogs! Be careful; make sure you tell people that before you sell them the treats! I make my own treats for my boy; I always grind some oats into oat flour and use that instead (I don’t know if he’s actually allergic or not–but I’d rather not take the chance!) His favorite is turkey bacon + cheddar… I don’t know where he got a savory tooth from–his mom is all about the sweets, haha!

I make a mean peanut butter and pumpkin flavored doggie treat… sans dairy. (Not b/c dogs can’t have dairy, they can – but because I couldn’t stop my treats that had eggs in them from MOLDING in just a few days. Eww). They are crunchy and delicious, and stay that way for a month – and yes, I’ve tried them! Peanut butter and pumpkin together, why not? 🙂

Even though I make my own, I always buy any other homemade dog treats that I find in my travels. I figure my Lilly might like a change of taste now and then. (I don’t buy her any mass-produced treats).
