Dinner With Dad

Dad and I walked downtown to have dinner at Gulf Rim, a cute Gulf Coast-inspired restaurant right on Hillsborough’s main street.

Dad loves that he can get a 24 oz "Oil Can" beer for only $4.00

And I liked the Pinot Grigio!

I debated between a salad with salmon or shrimp on top and the tacos. Normally I’d get the "safer" salad, but tonight I decided since I’d eaten light today I’d get the blackened fish tacos. They were fun to eat, and the spices were amazing!

With a side of jicama slaw and black beans. I ate both tacos (one corn, one flour tortilla) and about 2/3 of both the beans and slaw.

Dad got a Rojo Beef with fried plantains and beans + rice. I had a bite of the beef – it tasted like jerky!

I’m off to read and relax. Mom and I might take a walk if she comes back from her girls’ night out soon enough. Otherwise, we’re California bound early tomorrow morning! I’m not sure if I’ll have time to post breakfast, but I’ll try. Otherwise, I’ll report from the West Coast

 this !

Your dinner looks amazing! Quick question about your lunch though….what kind of turkey do you buy? Most of it grosses me out….I would love to find one that I like:) Thanks.

I love fish tacos! Was the fish breaded, or is the brown color from some kind of spice rub?

Definitely enjoy CA! I’m a California girl, and even though I live in LA now, Northern California will always be my favorite.

    kwaze ,
We get AppleGate Farms natural turkey or Hormel brand.

    sarah ,
Ooooo! Dinner would be fun! Sorry I didn’t call this time, but I was only there for a few hours. Maybe later this summer I’ll come spend a few days with mom and call you and Jessica up!

    Hil ,
Not breaded – heavily blackened 🙂

Thanks for the sweet comments guys!
