Cold Run Straight To Oats

Go Anna!!! She wanted to get in a hard workout before we started our day (I was up for anything!) and the gym was closed – so we ran in 20*!! We ran about a mile to a local track and did about 2 more miles there. I did some sprints during the 3rd mile (I used to do those when I was in high school all the time around tracks – sprint 1/2, jog/walk 1/2) and then we ran home. It was probably about 4-4.5 miles. We were icy cold but it was SO WORTH IT!

I think the whole time we were running we were dreaming about the pumpkin oats on today’s breakfast menu! (And of course the local coffeeshop’s Snickerdoodle coffee!)

DSC06136

Today’s Blend:

  • 1/3 cup oats, milk, water, pinch salt, half banana
  • 1 tbsp raisins
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin, stirred in at end
  • A bit of brown sugar and cinnamon
  • Small sprinkle toasted almonds
  • Spoonful Cinnamon Honey PB

DSC06137

SO GOOD!

DSC06135

We’re bundling up and headed up to the bottom tip of NC Wine Country to taste a few NC wines (I’m driving so Anna’ll have to taste them for me!) Then we’re doing lunch out somewhere around here. Hope you guys have wonderful Saturdays!

Darn! I wanted to punk out on the outdoor morning run, but you guys inspired me, so I guess I can’t. It feels like 15 degrees in nyc this morning, and I fear it will be even colder for the turkey trot thursday morning!

Thanks (?), enjoy the wine! 🙂

You guys are brave to run in the cold. I find that my lungs get sore when I run in colder weather.

I had a pumpkin breakfast, too! YUM!

Cute doggie in your picture! 🙂

Oh I love running in the cold. Whenever I feel like stopping I just think “I’ll be home and warm so much faster if I just push a little harder” and end up getting in an awesome workout.

I’m going to have to try some of that cinna-raisin PB…
I remember sprinting in track too! We would jog the turn and sprint on the straightaways for about 6 days. My butt and legs were hard as rocks!

That’s amazing that you can run in the freezing weather ! I’m “trying” to run outside here and there, but it is sooo much harder than on the treadmill. Maybe I just don’t push myself enough past that, “oh no, I’m gonna throw up” phase!! Any tips??

Good job on the run today!!!

Unfortunately it was only 14F outside here this morning and I just wasn’t up for that cold! I had a nice toasty run on the treadmill instead. 😀

What a cute dog! I’m going to guess you guys asked someone who was out walking their dog to take the pic?

I’m trying to motivate myself to go run right now and now I definitely have to because it’s only 52 here and I would be a wimp if that deterred me, hehe.

    Have a great day!

I think I’ve given up running outside for the winter. Sad, but its friggin cold!

Doggie is our next door neighbor. He is VERY mischievous and likes to hide behind my car when I back out of the garage. He also likes to jump into photos and the husband encourages him to jump on me!

The dog is great! Kath – you should take him with you on your runs! …coming from a voice of experience after running w/ my GSD, “Shane”. He is all over my blog. Good to know you have a dog loving fan club! By the way – good job on the run. We here in Upstate NY know exactly what a 20 deg. run feels like.
