Cinematic Afternoon

Willy Wonka was such a classic 🙂 I still quote that movie from time and time and only when I heard my quotes did I remember where they originally came from! (Such as “He con’t swem!!” when Augustus falls into the river

 this !
)

I even managed to take a nap and drool on the couch during the movie!!! 😳 This week + this morning’s race sure wore me out.

Here are two more cinematic masterpieces to share:

The first is a cool girl power piece that reader Molly sent me. I love these word videos with strong messages:

The second is a cool a capella group that BethT emailed me called Straight No Chaser. I LOVE a capella songs and this holiday version is great (but for an even better one search You Tube for: Sitcom Medley along with Straight No Chaser!)

After my nap I was pretty hungry and had a small bowl of mixed cereals with milk…..I may have added a spoonful of Barney Butter to this. Hard to remember 😉

DSC06901

….. and my cashew cookie mini LaraBar. I love these most of all for their portion size! I like having a 2-part snack.

DSC06902

Plus tea!

DSC06900

We were invited to Karen’s for dinner tonight because Andrew is back in town for a night before he heads to South Carolina for Lasik eye surgery!

I started with some Murphey Goode Sauv. Blanc –

DSC06906

And 2 pieces of cheese with crackers. I decided that cheese and crackers are better eaten separately. The cheese covers the flavors of the crackers and the crackers mean I don’t savor the cheese as much, so I will be eating these one at a time from now on. The blue cheese was so amazing without a cracker!

DSC06907

Wine #2 (half glass)

DSC06909

Karen made Chicken Chili for dinner – topped with cheese + light sour cream –

DSC06913

Plus spinach salad with pecans and cranberries in Annie’s Poppyseed dressing –

DSC06914

And Great Harvest ciabatta (compliments of us!)

DSC06917

DSC06912

Salad seconds (and thirds!)

DSC06919

Wine #3 (just a tiny bit)

DSC06921

And ice cream with cookies for dessert 🙂

I can’t wait to sleep in tomorrow!!!!!!! I. am. beat.

G’night!

hi Kath! Great job on your race today and yummy Lara Bar stash! That chicken chili sounds great. Is there dairy in it? Maybe Karen can share the recipe?

Love how you and hub are together and enjoy just life stuff. I think it’s cool he went to your race and all that. When you have kids, you’ll be this little 3some and go on jogging dates with the jogger stroller I bet. 🙂 We loved doing that!

Willy Wonka… awesome movie. The original is the best BY FAR. I love when the gum had all the dinner courses. Can you imagine? YUM!

    Nite friend!

the dialogue sounds more swedish chef than Austrian or British. :o) lovely dinner. you might like rockapella or take 6. Or Sweet Honey in the Rock. :o) Or perhaps you prefer, Hall and “Oates” HAH HAH with breakfast! youtube Gonzo and chicken chorus singing Strauss, the blue danube.

    polly ,
I can’t WAIT to have a jogging stroller! I was just saying yesterday how cool it would be to run a 5K with our kid/s.

    (+ Niki F)
I don’t think there was dairy in the chilli, but I don’t have the recipe 🙁 It was pretty simple – chicken, corn, (onions 👿 ), broth, garlic, maybe carrot? But it was mostly chicken and corn.

    Madison ,
I’ve always been a nap drooler – so maybe you’re right since I only take naps when I’m very tired! But I also drool when I sleep with my head on the husband’s shoulder. I usually catch myself and he laughs when I do. I think it moves my jaw out of socket or something.

haha I love the part in Willy Wonka when Augustus falls into the river and Wonka is like Stop. No. Don’t. He is so unenthusiastic about it which makes it hilarious!

Ok -wait! how cold was that sub freezing temp. for your jingle run? If you need tips on how to dress like a snow bunny and run warm, let me know. Running here yesterday was a challenge but at 11 deg. managed to stay comfortable. Sounds like yo had a great run yesterday, and what a way to top of the day. Great job! (sorry – day late with the congrats!)

oooh. loves the original willy wonka. could watch that any day, all day. i always used to fast-forward the singing bits when i was a kid though. i think i’ve only really started to tolerate those parts as i’ve gotten older… the part where grandpa jo takes 10 minutes to get out of bed still drives me nuts though… get on with it! we want more chocolate factory footage! 😛

also love powerful word videos like that. i like the end of an inconvenient truth when they’re doing the credits, but also talking about how you can help by playing with the letters in the names. coolness.

something you might be interested in – i did this last year for christmas presents for everyone: http://www.oxfamamericaunwrapped.com

you get a cute little card in the mail that you can then send to whoever you bought the gift for. not sure what kind of plans you have for gift-giving, but it was kind of hilarious to be buying people crocodiles and things. 😀
