CE Oh So Good

Everything is packed!

  • Scarf
  • Coat
  • Gloves
  • Hat

Do you think I have enough for Chicago πŸ˜‰

Just kidding. You know how last week I fit everything into one duffle bag? Well this trip I am checking luggage because 1) I don’t know what liquids or heavy SWAG I might get at BlogHer and 2) I HATE traveling alone with multiple bags. Esp. going to the bathroom!

But since I am now a pretty light traveler and this family does not own a mini suitcase, I am checking a practically empty suitcase!

All the more room for swag

I ended the afternoon with the best.snack.ever. Seriously, nothing is as comforting or filling or satisfying as greek yogurt with fruit and granola.

IMG_9446 (1024x768)

I should have just had a few nuts though because this did kinda spoil my appetite.

We actually had dinner tonight with the CEO of Great Harvest!!!!!!!!!!!! Coincidentally he was a KERF reader before he even knew Matt worked there! And even though GH is headquartered in Montana, he actually lives here in Charlotte. What are the chances!? It was a great dinner of discussing lots of fun things for the future πŸ™‚

We dined at Baoding, questionably the best Chinese food in Charlotte.

IMG_9447 (1024x768)

I have to say, I was very impressed with the freshness of the meal! I ordered a β€œSteamer” of shrimp + veggies with sauce on the side. Check out the beautiful array of veggies and tail-on shrimp –

IMG_9448 (1024x768)

Sauce..

IMG_9452 (1024x768)

Along with brown rice! Stick and chewy and nutty – oh my!

IMG_9449 (1024x768)

My plate (add another scoop of veggies to this). You can see i also tasted Matt’s Three Glass Chicken

IMG_9453 (1024x768)

Which was great because of the cilantro!

IMG_9451 (1024x768)

And the best part.. Matt’s said he would have business luck in the near future (!!) Mine said β€œYou have a friendly heart and are well admired.” Didn’t get lucky #26 though πŸ™

IMG_9454 (1024x768)

I had 14 things on my todo list today and got 13 of them finished. Woot.

Tomorrow’s going to be busy and exciting – can’t wait!!

Hope you have a good flight tomorrow! Should be good weather in Chicago this week. It sounds like you have a 5K lined up, but if you get the chance you should go to the lakefront for a run.

(I know, I know, you have the REAL ocean where you live which puts us to shame, but our skyline can’t be beat!) Running along the lake is my #1 favorite thing about living in Chicago!

That’s awesome that you had dinner with the CEO! Please ask him to make their bread recipes WITHOUT high fructose corn syrup. I would buy more of their bread, but I refuse to buy stuff that contains HFCS. Thanks!!!! πŸ™‚

Their breads do not contain HFCS!!! They should all be made with invert sugar and are all natural made from whole wheat freshly milledon site.

I love the Oikos brand too. I definitely think these could be the best Greek Yogurts I have tried.

What a fun dinner. Chinese food is probably my least favorite out of all of the Asian cusines, but sometimes, it totally hits the spot.

Have a wonderful and safe trip to Chicago. Take care Kath!

Hi find it hilarious that Stephanie and Kath are debating the type of sweetener used in GH breads, when they are esentially talking about the same thing. HFCS is a corn-based syrup composed of almost equal parts glucose and fructose. Invert sugar is a sucrose-based syrup made by splittling sucrose into its component monosaccharides – equal parts glucose and fructose. So..umm..wait. That means, yep, they are the same thing.

Stephanie – get off your high horse and stop spreading the HFCS myth. It is no different than sugar – almost the same composition. No better, no worse.

Thanks Kath! I’ll have to check out one of the actual bakeries. I found Great Harvest in Sam’s Club and 2 of the 3 breads there contained it. I was very disappointed! But, I’ll definitely check into one of the stores in my area. Thanks for clearing it up!!! πŸ™‚
