Camel Pack

I have had so many different titles for this post pop into my noggin!!

On my way home from work I got into another funk. It may have been the cloud cover that shielded the sun. Or perhaps skipping coffee again. Or the fact that Matt was going out without me when I wanted a cozy night in. But my mood took a nosedive 🙁

I munched on an Alliebar made with love in hopes that it filled my soul

IMG_0548 (640x427)

It tasted wonderful, but the funk persisted. PMS perhaps?

Me being funky in the car on the way to workout

photo

The clouds cleared and I G-chatted Emily to see if she wanted to join me for a run. She did, and I met Casey and Emily at the greenway 26 minutes later.

They both just got Camelbaks and the 3 of us looked like a pack of camels running together!!

IMG_5122 (586x800)

5 miles later, happiness broke through the clouds. Nothin’ like a run!

IMG_5124 (600x800)

Once home and quickly showered, I got to work on dinner.

Pizza Salad!

IMG_0588 (640x427)

AND A BEER!!! A pumpkin ale I’ve had in the fridge for AGES. Lately I have not enjoyed the feeling of being buzzed, but tonight that’s all I wanted. It’s been a rough, long week 🙁

IMG_0603 (640x427)

IMG_0590 (640x427)

The best beer there ever was!! Cottonwood Pumpkin from just down the road in Mooresville, NC.

IMG_0591 (640x427)

My pizza salad consisted of 4 tiny slices of leftover homemade pizza heated in the oven (the only way I’ll eat leftover pizza)

IMG_0601 (640x427)

Plus a bed of baby spinach topped with sautéed brussels and mushrooms in tomato sauce and goat cheese

IMG_0600 (640x427)

I cooked the shrooms and brussels with the Garlic Gold Parmesan Nuggets. What an easy and fun blend! No chopping or grating 🙂

IMG_0581 (640x427)

Also used some of Matt’s homemade tomato sauce – LOVE homemade!

IMG_0582 (640x427)

I couldn’t quite finish the spinach – beer is filling!

IMG_0604 (640x427)

IMG_0587 (640x427)

I had a piece of Chocomize for dessert. Now I’m going to clean the kitchen all by myself and then put fresh sheets on the bed and read for a bit.

TOMORROW: I’m going to the South Carolina Dietetics Association Annual Meeting. I have to be up at 4:45 😥 SO TRAGIC. Two weeks in a row up before the sunrise. I’ve got an hour and a half drive (thankfully I’m carpooling) and then a full day of indoor work when the forecast is sunny. I AM looking forward to a workshop on Sports Nutrition though. I’m not sure when or how I will be blogging, but I’ll be here sooner or later. Sunday is busy as well! I really need a pedicure, a massage and a day off! Also a trip to Bald Head Island…

Which brings me to…

It’s crazy how a run can pull you out a funk. Even when its the last thing I want to do because I’m cranky, I always feel a million times better after I do. Beer and pizza never hurt, either! 😉

Nothin’ like friends, sunshine & a good run to lift a girl out of funk!

Your Saturday morning sounds oddly similar to mine – I’ll be up at 5 a.m. to drive an hour and a half to take a 3+ hour exam (last one – yay!) for my teaching certification program. Fun, fun! Hope you’ll be able to share some of what you learn with us. 😉

Glad the run cleared your funky mood a little bit. Those endorphins did their job! Love when that happens. I had a completely funky day today with work and it’s frustrating but I can’t wait to run it out tomorrow. Frustrating days and weeks make for the best runs in my opinion. Hope your night continues to go well!!

I am so happy to read your post tonight. I am having an awful week as well with work stuff. I also had leftovers for dinner due to my mood and lack of wanting to fix anything. Your pizza and salad was better than my leftovers. Yours were much more comforting.

I can’t wait until I can run five miles straight! Yesterday I made a huge leap and ran three miles straight w/ splits under 8 minutes for the last two miles! It’s amazing how much easier it is to run on a flat track than on a treadmill with a slight incline!

Oh I’m so addicted to that Spring Blend coffee- and it’s totally your fault Kath!! I don’t have any fresh markets near me so I have to order it to feed my addiction. Did you know that they charge $9.95 for shipping?! That’s insane, huh? The shipping is the same price as the bag of coffee, lol! I order it in bulk and only once a year- but it’s sooooooo worth the cost of shipping!

My school pioneered a Master’s Program in Sports Nutrition. (just a neat little nugget of info for you) My Sis-In-Law went through the program and it’s such a cool program! The field is so intriguing- I’m thinking about doing my Master’s in it too after I finish my RD.

Also, an A+ for thinking that the only way to eat leftover pizza is warmed up in the oven! My roommates sometimes eat cold pizza that has been sitting out all night, and I think it is so icky! There’s nothing worse than cold pizza….except for maybe stale pizza.
Anyway, you’re awesome. And that’s that!

I’m sorry you’ve had a ‘challenging’ week (as my Mum would put it), I really can sympathise. ITs difficult starting out in such an intense environment. I think KERF needs an Operation Beautiful note! I hate funks too- especially when I am in an irritable mood and can’t seem to get out of it (def. PMS!!) but then bang! it goes when I take my body out for some exercise! Maybe this might give you + Matt a bit of a smile… crazy Dutch people- (‘tail wagging beer?!)
