Caffeine Fever

Why did I decide not to have coffee this morning!? Around 10:00 I started to get a headache and I’m pretty sure that’s why. Guf! First typhoid fever and now this!

Nevertheless, I was in the mood for exercise and traveled via bicycle to the gym and did a light 30 minutes on the ET before my ride home.

I cam home to find this da-licious box of chips on my doorstep!! I received these Food Should Taste Good chips to try for an article I’m writing on “Healthy Eating On The Go.” So of course I wanted to include them in lunch.

IMG_2523 (1024x768)

I decided on the sweet potato flavor, which did not disappoint! It was like a cross between a sweet potato chip and a tortilla chip. Totally delicious and addicting. You probably want to mentally double the portion here because I ate a number of them out of the bag!

For dipping: ‘Minter Cheese!

IMG_2531 (1024x768)

IMG_2530 (1024x768)

For the rest of lunch I made a semi-homemade soup.

  • 1 apple, chopped
  • 1 cup kale, trimmed + washed
  • 1/2 jumbo carrot, chopped
  • A few pieces leftover chicken
  • 1 cup +/- TJ’s Butternut Apple Soup
  • Sprinkle Cinnamon
  • IMG_2534 (1024x768)

I heated them all together in the microwave until hot. The cooked apple was amazing!

    IMG_2528 (1024x768)

    With a seltzer –

Kelsey hit the same deer carcas I did last night this morning on the way to class!! AHHH!

The latest from Balanced Living: Are You What You Eat?

I am having Windows Live Writer troubles (when do the tech issues END!?!) so if this post looks funky or you see some mysterious theme posts in your readers, my apologies!

    It’s getting warmer out there…

I found these chips last year at a Whole Foods and am happy that they’re spreading around and getting easier to find – CostCo even has the multigrain kind now! I’ve had MultiGrain, Chocolate (surprisingly good and an experiment of having them with chili was actually a good combo!) and Sweet Potato – all yummy!!

Hey Kath, I know you’re not a professional RD yet, but I wanted to get your advice on this. I’m wondering if I eat enough calories. I’m 5’9 and between 121-123 pounds, (I used to be 123-124 but seem to have dropped to 120-121 sometime around dec.). I have a small frame (obvi), I’m a runner and very active, I work out 6+ days a week for at least 45 minutes, typically burning 400-500 cal 5-6 of those days + 1 long run day(800+). Other than that I got to school and work at a desk in an office.
I generally intake about 1700 calories a day. Do you think this is enough for my body plus activity level? If not, what do you think I should be intaking and do you have any suggestions of where to add the calories? Right now I typically eat as follows: Three meals(all around 400c) , one morning prebk (100c) one afternoon (200c), one evening snack(150c). Thanks I really, really appreciate your input.

The Buffalo tasted good at first, but the aftertaste was awful. Something is just off with that one, and I REALLY wanted it to be good! I can’t wait to hear your review of all the flavors. 🙂
