By Inch Or By Mile

Good evening all!

We ended up going to a greenway instead of a hike, which saved us driving time. This was a new older greenway on the other side of the city that was flat but long. We ended up walking about 5.5 miles with a picnic halfway.

IMG_4439IMG_4441  IMG_4438

Along the way we encountered many-a-bugs, mostly squirrmin’ worms inchin’ along

IMG_4442 IMG_4443 IMG_4446 IMG_4444 IMG_4464 IMG_4463 IMG_4437 IMG_4448 IMG_4447

Our picnic was a variety of fridge scroungings –

IMG_4449

Fruits + veggies

IMG_4450

Buns

IMG_4452

Tri-cheese

IMG_4453

Cantaloupe

IMG_4455

Diana’s hummus

IMG_4456

I enjoyed a little of everything

IMG_4458 IMG_4461 IMG_4457

Plus the husband!

IMG_4462

And Lemon Poppyseed bread for dessert. Just a small slice from this pile –

IMG_4465

My legs were quite tired after about 1.5 hours of walking. We came home and put our feet up to some House Hunters and watched our wedding video!!!

IMG_4470

Around 4:30 I got hungry for a snack – Nature’s Path Pumpkin Raisin Crunch with some soy milk and PB2! The PB2 was actually great in the cereal. It gave it a nice peanut buttery flavor in the background.

IMG_4467

Speaking of PB2, another jar arrived today from Lee!! I now have 3 and think I’ll share one with Kelsey.

IMG_4466

We doubled up on alcohol the past 2 nights, so tonight I made POM Spritzers for mom and me.

IMG_4471

IMG_4480

For their farewell dinner I made my parents Nutty Vanilla Sweet Potato + Kale Soup! Hopefully it will soon be called the award winning NVSPKS!

IMG_4486

IMG_4484

I added a little more milk this time and it was a tad too liquidy, but the taste was spot on. I think they liked it a lot.

IMG_4487

On the side we had a platter of GH bread – Cheesy Sourdough and Dakota.

IMG_4485

I chose sourdough with butta –

IMG_4489

IMG_4488

My mom couldn’t end the meal without something sweet, so I pulled out the Peeps she brought me for Easter. She LOVES Peeps! I like them too, but one is usually enough 🙂

IMG_4491

IMG_4492

Dad wanted chocolate, so I pulled these out that I got at BlogHer last July. I think it helps to keep chocolate hidden in a drawer under things so getting it out to unwrap takes some effort – can’t believe I haven’t eaten all of these yet!

IMG_4490

I had half of one just for a taste.

IMG_4493

Now that the house is back in order, Kanz and I are going to watch Australia. I can’t believe it’s only Saturday night. It was a wonderful 3-day weekend. Tomorrow it’s back to work studying for my double-test Wednesday.

Good job on the walking! Those worms are gross. Hate fuzzy looking creatures!
That soup has to be a winner.
As for “Australia”, I’ve been curious about that movie because it has some good actors, but I think it got poor reviews.

Our GOTR run is May 2, so we went on a 5K practice run this morning. My legs are tired too… But it felt great. Hope you like Australia, heard it was a bit long.

What a fun way to spend your long Easter weekend! All those wormy bugs would have creeped me out though. I hope Matt was the only one crazy enough to play with them!

Delicious lunch spread!! And I just bought that Pumpkin Raison Flax Cereal at the store today, so I’m hoping I like it too!

That soup looks amazing. I printed out the recipe last week, so I’m definitely making it soon!

Enjoy your weekend before the craziness of next hits!

While I think fuzzy worms are plenty cute, I have some issues with them. Once when I was a kid we went camping during some kind of fuzzy worm migration/orgy. I didn’t look before sitting down on a bench and smushed a big line of them. I was wearing shorts. Bare skin + fuzzy worm guts = nasty, itchy, ouchy red welts.

I now prefer my fuzzy worm interaction to be of the “look, don’t touch” variety.
