BuzZy As A Bee

It’s a Manic Monday here for sure! I took my Organic notes to the gym with me and tried to keep my intensity up as I worked my brain HARD. I still do not know this stuff well enough to produce it on a quiz 👿 I have my third big test in their this Friday. It means this week will be crazy, but I’ll be able to fully enjoy my trip to Chicago.

The husband was wide awake at 5 but said he was sore and didn’t want to workout, so he just got up to start the day. It was nice because he made my breakfast while I showered 🙂

A lovely bowl of Banana, Wheatberry, Cottage Cheese Oats

DSC05538

  • 1/3 cup oats, milk, water
  • Salt, vanilla
  • 1/2 large banana
  • 2 tbsp wheatberries
  • 1 tbsp raisins
  • 1/8 cup cottage cheese, stirred in at end
  • 1″ piece of granola plank
  • Walnuts
  • Cinnamon PB

Plus some chandelier coffee –

I’m off to quiz myself with this.

I’ve got back to back meetings today and then :lab: lab this afternoon. I’m really looking forward to bison burgers, taking a warm bath, finishing my book and having the day off tomorrow!

Hm, bison burgers…. I think they sell bison meat at the local farmer’s market here. Do the burgers taste very different from hamburgers? Also, good luck w/ the Organic studying!

Hi Kath (and KERF readers!) –

I just started a baking blog and since I’m a regular reader (usually go by Ash), I thought I’d let you know. It’s all about baking with whole foods – no refined sugars, no refined flours, etc. There will be lots of recipes, and it should be fun. Hope you check it out!

    kath-

    two points.

    1. i am very jealous of ur morning bowl of oatmeal. i forgot i had no oats left and had to eat icky bread for breakfast. i am so cold!

    and

    2. you did a fab job with this week’s market expenses, especially as you did buy some meat. I am going to try and keep my spending down as much as possible for the month of november and maybe december too to get in the spirit with you, but i will definitely spend more alone than you two will spend together haha.

Thank you for posting the link to Mint.com. What a great site! My hubby and I were doing our budget manually (well, Excel spreadsheet style) and dreaded it…not anymore!

Kath, I was excited to hear you mention Mint.com a few posts ago as well. I just started my big-girl job in August and I’m having a hard time seeing where my money goes and budgeting. I looked into using mint.com as I’ve seen it recommended by lots of magazines, but I was a little concerned about the security of the website and giving out my bank account information. I don’t have qualms about paying bills online or banking online though. Can you or anyone else using the site speak to its security, why you chose to use it, etc? I’m using a free copy of Microsoft Money right now and I spend a lot of time re-assigning categories and things like that. I’d like something easier to use but secure! Thanks!

Good job on the budgeting yesterday! I am trying a less conservative approach to the challenge since it’s only me, but I spend so much time at my mom’s and BF they both eat my food. I am probably going to give myself 15 to 20 bucks a week, I haven’t decided yet.

i want to join in on the savings too, its just so hard because i honestly don’t feel like it’s plausible for me and my husband to eat breakfast, lunch, dinner for less than 100 a week, and thats a minimum… and for it to be healthy at that, because healthy foods are expensive. we could try using up stuff in our pantry but lots of rice, pasta, etc gets really “carby” does anyone have any suggestions? maybe i am just not a good shopper?

Good luck on your orgo quiz! I found organic chemistry to be very difficult but very satisfying once I finally understood the concepts. Unfortunately I’ve forgotten most of them by now since they’re not that applicable to my current job (I work in neuroscience).

And they have a few of the big certifications as well. I’m not worried about it.
