Buns Of Steel

The only buns of steel around here are mine and Faith’s – my burger was consumed with bread 😉

BLOG-9403

Faith and I went for a walk this morning followed by a Dave Farmar session – the 6.1.2009 class. It was one of Dave’s easier classes, but always, always good ole Baptiste yoga. Love.

BLOG-9393

After Faith left, I did a few chores, showered, and set out to make that burger.

BLOG-9414

BLOG-9400

I used my recipe for Homemade Bean Burgers

Today’s mix was a base of pinto beans with Worcestershire, whole wheat flour, olive oil, rosemary salt, nutritional yeast, pepper and walnuts. See the recipe above for the how-to!

-KERF{Filename number suffix»}

I added a tablespoon or two of walnuts to the mix – loved that crunchy addition!!

BLOG-9396

BLOG-9397

All cooked up with bread for a bun, ketchup, mustard and jalapenos!

BLOG-9404

BLOG-9401

Served with a side salad of spinach, veg, apricot stilton, pine nuts, cherry vinegar and olive oil

I’m walking to Karen’s house in a bit for us to go out for Cville’s restaurant week!! But first, some paperwork.

GREAT looking burgers! The last time I made homemade bean burgers, I accidently flipped the tray straight out of the oven and onto the floor, and lost them all 🙁 Maybe I should redeem myself and try again!?

I only started making my own veggie burgers within the last year or so and I’ll never go back to the frozen ones! You can pretty much throw whatever you have in there and they are so tasty! My favorite ones lately have been with quinoa, white beans, carrot, scallions, and cumin. So good with greek yogurt sauce!

I use the pickled. There’s no way I could eat fresh!! I’m not worried about a little preservative I eat in such a small quantity. If it were a food I ate by the cup everyday, I’d feel differently.
