Breakfast > Running

Hope you guys are taking advantage of the Open Sky gift certificates! The flurry of online visitors crashed their servers, but they are working to get the site up and running again ASAP. You can call the 800 number for faster service: (877) 734-OPEN.

Matt and I set the alarm every Monday to go running before he has to be at work, and I think we’ve only actually gotten up once in about two months

 this !
You can see who is usually the motivator to exercise, because since I have the leisure of working out mid-morning, I just go back to sleep so Matt does too.

But if we skip our run we do get to have a longer breakfast together, so it’s a good compromise.

Today’s mix:

  • 1/3 cup oats, milk, water
  • Pinch salt
  • Half banana
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
  • ~1/4 cup crumbled Carrot Raisin Walnut muffin from Great Harvest
  • Coconut
  • Plum jam
  • Barney Butter

IMG_0057 (640x427)

Mmm mm!

IMG_0055 (640x427)

I’m jittering from head to toe from this 100% caff peppermint creme!

Oooo peppermint creme coffee sounds divine! I put a little pumpkin spice creamer in my coffee today – very Holiday’esque. 🙂 Have a great day!

I love running or working out in the morning but it rarely happens! It’s so nice to get it out of the way, but at the same time, my motivation is very low right after getting up! I usually just want coffee and to EAT!

At least you have the best of intentions to get up. I do that alot with early workouts. I just find it easier to get evening workouts in.

BTW I love seeing your to-do list on the bottom of the post. It reminds me of things I have to do sometimes so I don’t forget too 🙂

Almost 3 hours, 2 cups of (boring Keurig) coffee, and one bowl of banana oatmeal later and I GOT A FRENCH PRESS! I actually put the exact model back on the shelf in Target this weekend because I wanted to really justify my purchase since it’s the holidays and now I don’t have to. Thank you sooo much Kath! Good luck everyone! Now to get started on my to do list ..

Just wanted to let you know that I made oatmeal this weekend your way and it was delicious! I often put bananas in my oatmeal, but I have never cooked them in. And the addition of a little peanut butter really helps hold me over until lunch! I also like to cut up persimon for my oatmeal, if you were looking for another use for your persimons 🙂

I’ve seen chia seeds on a few different blogs lately. What do they taste like? Or are they like flax meal and just kinda blend into the taste of everything else?

They don’t have much of a taste. Maybe a little poppyseedish in their shape and size. Less nutty than flax. They have a slight gel to them on the inside.
