Breakfast, Interrupted

Guess what time it is 🙁

Roach season.

The horror of seeing (and hearing!) one during breakfast this morning. It involved a 10 minute intermission to take care of business. Ughghghghg.

I’m up super early today because I have to be at work an hour earlier these next two days as I work with a different team.

The sun was NOT up for these photos – but somehow my camera knew what to do!?

IMG_2713 (640x427)

Despite being late, I had to have oatmeal today. It’s been too long!

The Mix

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/3 cup Organic Valley Cottage Cheese
  • Cinnamon
  • Vanilla
  • Pinch salt
  • Lingonberry preserves
  • Maranatha Dark Choco AB
  • Naturally Nutty White Chocolate Coconut PB
  • Nature’s Path Hemp Plus Granola (Questionably my VERY FAVORITE!?)

Extra blur from the low aperture

The one eyed monster that attacked me this morning:

Adios!

Sorry your day started that way, but I did see a glimmer of sunshine on the last oat picture. That must mean that there will be a bright spot in your day! Have a great day, Kath!

Ewww…roaches creep me out, but luckily, I haven’t had to deal with too many of them in my life! The closest I’ve gotten to a roach in the past few years was when I bought my container of medjool dates at TJ’s a few months ago. Now, those kind of roaches I’ll take anytime…:)

That hemp plus is my favorite flavor as well. I love that it is light and crunchy, and only 140 calories for 1/2 a cup!

Roaches – nasty. One big reason that keeps me in the northern climes.

I am sure I wouldn’t want to come upon a roach but I get to deal with scorpions and tarantula’s. I think everyone has that bug that gets to them even if they don’t hate bugs in general.

You need an exterminator! If you see ONE roach, there is bound to be dozens, maybe even hundreds more. They reproduce like you wouldn’t believe. We had some living in our DISHWASHER last summer and I saw one, killed it and didn’t think anything of it, then a few weeks later every morning when I turned on the light in the kitchen I would see like TEN scurrying back into the darkness. SO.GROSS. We had an exterminator come and bomb the inside of the dishwasher and it took care of them. He told me they even like to eat soap! Who knew?

They aren’t really roaches – they are Palmetto bugs. They don’t live in your house so exterminating won’t do any good 🙁

You know, I’m not really skeeved out by bugs, but I’m housesitting at the moment at a place that seems to house every single bug known to man… and I don’t know if there’s anything more disgusting than opening the just-run dishwasher and having a cockroach come out. The only roach I’ve ever encountered would be when I was in Australia typing away on the campus computer and one landed on my shoulder….oh wait, I was skyping my dad…and he thought I was being attacked (which in my defense…I was). I hope I never see one again, bleh! Minnesota is known for box-elder bugs….teeny-tiny version of a roach. Not a fan. I hope you don’t have many more run in’s with those creatures, yucky!
