Bread, Leftovers, Smoothies

Reason # 1,262,626 to go to the gym: the heat is on there!!!

I feel guilty for not biking today since the sun was up, but I was really, really cold in a 60* house before I left and just couldn’t handle it! At the gym I did a nice 45 minutes on the ET followed by about 20 minutes of lifting, abs, etc.

Home + shower = ready for lunch!

The husband burst through the door right at 12 with some goodies from Great Harvest – Honey Wheat bread (which I think tastes like a donut!) and focaccia. We both had bites of each on the spot.

DSC05289

For lunch I had a plate of birthday leftovers! A small piece of trout, a few sweet potatoes (plus a few butternut cubes from the party) and kale. Plus grapes!

DSC05295

And some bread crackers with a touch of whipped butter –

DSC05296

And tea!

DSC05294

For dessert I broke into this Crispy Cat “healthy” candy bar we’ve had for a while. This guy is really just as high in calories and all as a Snickers but made with more natural ingredients. It tasted more like a health bar to me (Luna, Clif) than a candy bar so I don’t think I’d ever choose to eat this again.

DSC05297

DSC05298

My volume of food wasn’t that much and I’m still feeling kinda hungry 🙁 I know I got enough to eat from the food groups and all, so that’s my cue I probably just ate too fast and need to calm my mind down so it can digest.

Contest Alert!!!!

Smoothie King has a new smoothie – the Berry Stimulating Maté – and they would like to share the love! The smoothie is made with blackberry, strawberry, blueberry, Guayaki organic yerba maté, turbinado and nonfat milk. (Ask for it “Skinny” to leave out the sugar). Yerba maté is a holly bush that comes from the South American rainforests. It contains xanthines, stimulants in the caffeine family that are thought to be gentler on the digestive tract, along with potassium, magnesium and manganese. (Wikipedia has lots more details).

So Smoothie King has 10 coupon packs (5 coupons each!) to share with you guys so you can take a bunch of your friends in for free smoothies. To enter just leave a comment (perhaps listing your favorite smoothie -store bought or homemade for fun!?) by 5:00pm and I’ll randomly choose the 10 winners at tonight’s dinner post.

I’ll start: my favorite smoothie remains Smoothie King’s Mangosteen Madness! 8)

I’m off to class, then I need to get my butt STUDYING!!!!!!!

I love the look of your lunch. I always like eating a “dinner” for lunch.

My favorite smoothie is usually home-made because we just recently got a Smoothie King here and I haven’t been yet. I like frozen strawberries, a bananna, and a little yogurt.

I have a smoothie almost every afternoon because it’s a great snack to transport to my nannying job (which starts right BEFORE I get hungry, but lasts until a time when I would be starving if I didn’t have a snack! Dang!) I am not very creative with them but here are my three favs:

    Blueberry Crunch
    1 cup soy milk
    1 cup frozen blueberries
1/4 cup kashi go lean crunch
    5 ice cubes

    Monkey Butter
    1 cup soy milk
    1 banana
    generous cinnamon sprinkle
1 1/2 tsp soy nut butter or peanut butter
    5 ice cubes

    Blended Mocha
1 scoop Whole Foods chocolate soy protein powder

    4 oz strong brewed coffee

I love to indulge in a store-bought smoothie every now and then but I typically make my own because they are a snap to whip up and a fraction of the cost. My favorite post-evening-workout meal is a dinner salad and a smoothie made with some frozen banana, frozen berries of some sort, 1/2 cup of plain FF yogurt, a splash of juice/milk, and when in season, fresh mango.

i even bought a blender for my dorm when i started college because i was so used to a smoothie a day and couldnt imagine not making them…i had so many people say to me, i cant believe your mom bought you a blender to make mixed drinks!!!

    Hi. My name is Rachel.
And I’m ADDICTED TO SMOOTHIE KING.
No joke, I go there at least 3 times a week!! My smoothie of choice is either the Vanilla or Orange-Vanilla Slim-and-Trim, and my mom loves the Strawberry Kiwi Breeze! We are partners in crime when it comes to Smoothie King!
On days when I can’t get there (aka the days my conscience says to SAVE money!), I make a smoothie at home! 1 banana, 6-8 strawberries, 4 oz. Light-n-Fit yogurt, splash of vanilla extract, sweetner, ICE, a bit of milk, and a splash of juice! Blend-er up and VOILA! A not-quite-as-good but still a-MAY-zing smoothie at home!
🙂 When it comes to smoothies, I am an expert!
    And and addict.

I just found out that there will be a Smoothie King opening up near me soon! I’m so excited!

Now I really hope I win – I won’t have to wait until I’m at the in-laws to use the coupons!

    Perfect Pumpkin Smoothie:

1 cup soy milk (makes it really creamy)
1/2 cup pumpkin (fresh if you have, or canned)
    sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice
    sprinkle of cinnamon
*optional ~1 scoop whole foods pure whey protein

This is so sad. I missed another contest. Well, I actually don’t live near a smoothie king, so it’s not that big of a deal, but still. Well, congrats to the winners!!!!!
