Boss For A Day

Spring might not be here for a few more weeks, but today I am pretending it is April.

IMG_9188 (550x413)

Not only is it a gorgeous day, but I walked to the bakery in SHORT SLEEVES!

IMG_9192 (550x413)

Matt is on a field trip today, so I’m big boss for the day. It’s kind of scary to think that I’m running the biz by myself. But I’m not really alone – the crew is awesome!

IMG_9198 (550x413)

I snacked on a slice of our brand new whole wheat Very Berry bread [cranberries, dried blueberries, golden raisins] and then had a sandwich for lunch at 1:30.

IMG_9193 (550x413)

A killer Jenny-made pimento cheese with cucumber, tomato, lettuce and plum chutney on Cville Crunch.

IMG_9197 (550x413)IMG_9196 (550x413)

It was incredible. My new favorite sandwich of ours!

Honest Tea on the side.

IMG_9195 (413x550)

I have quite a bit of ordering to do, and then I am headed out into the sunshine! Dinner plans with Karen!

It is spring there! Jenny knows her sandwiches well 🙂 Do you let staff eat for free or do they get a percentage off food there? When I worked in food service we were given a reduced price for certain items but not all free (understandably!)

They get a sandwich, coffee/tea, a sweet and a loaf of bread per shift. Since some of them work everyday, it’s a pretty sweet deal 🙂

Holy cow! A whole loaf in addition to free lunch every day?? That IS a sweet deal. I worked for a grocery chain (in Richmond) for 8 years through HS and college and we didn’t even get a discount.

I also have a question about your GH pancake mix….can you tell me what needs to be added to make pancakes? My label wore off, so I have no idea what needs to go into the mix. I checked the GH website, but couldn’t find any instructions. Thanks so much! 🙂

I was sunny here in Buffalo most of the day too. I considered taking the twins for a walk…..but when I went outside with my second-graders I realized it was just a bit too windy. Plus, now the sun is gone. Oh well, at least I got to enjoy it earlier!

Real southern pimento cheese includes Duke mayonnaise (the full fat kind) and sugar. My mom swears by this and her pimento cheese is well known round these parts. 🙂 Obviously it’s not something you’d eat every day, but it’s a nice treat.

Beautifully sunny and springlike today…even saw a convertable with the top down and I was driving with the window down to breath in all that springlike air…aaaaaaaahhhhh!
