Blue Sparkle

Greetings from Spartanburg, home of the Monsons!

IMG_6280 (640x427)

Matt and I found brother Andrew and cousin Elizabeth when we arrived just after 1PM for lunch at a wood fired pizza place. Luckily we got to sit outside because I don’t think I could have handled the smoky smell inside!

The sky was quite the backdrop!

IMG_6259 (640x427)

I started with a side salad, which happened to be FREE because we ordered 3 pizzas!?

IMG_6260 (640x427)

Mushroom, Greek, and an Olive Mixed

IMG_6265 (640x427) IMG_6263 (640x427)

I had one of each flavor

IMG_6268 (640x427)

It was my favorite kind of pizza! Chewy crust, cheesy with lots of flavorful toppings

IMG_6271 (640x427)

After lunch we buckled up

IMG_6275 (427x640)

And went a’walkin’

IMG_6276 (427x640)

IMG_6279 (640x427)

I know why they call it Sparkle City – the sky was glistening blue!

IMG_6278 (640x427)

A blue rectangle for your visual entertainment:

Andrew led us to a motorcycle convention going on. I wasn’t that impressed, but the bikes were pretty colors

IMG_6299 (640x427)

And we wrapped up our tour of the town with a spin through Wofford, where Andrew went for a semester when he was kicked out of Tulane by Katrina

IMG_6303 (640x427) IMG_6302 (640x427) IMG_6304 (427x640) IMG_6306 (427x640)

We paid our respects

IMG_6309 (640x427)

And headed back to the car. We’re now at the hotel and sprucing up before a really fun dinner. We’ve already ran into so many fun family members!

Boy that pizza looks good. All of my favorite things … on top of a single pizza. I’m making pizza tomorrow for dinner I think…

By the way, I finally found my way to that Marie Claire article (and your response). It was interesting that she really didn’t have much to say about you, or Jenna. Which means she just had an axe to grind and couldn’t find a way to pick you apart. I’d cancel my subscription, but I don’t have one. I’m an adult, and it’s not exactly my kind of mag.

Spartanburg definitely is an interesting city. I’ve never been just to spend time in the city…always been working. (I used to work for a catering company and we had a lot of lunch deliveries to the medical offices there.)
