Beer + Ginger Ale + Apple Juice

Sculpt class was oh-so-fun today. Lots of lifting and muscle burn!!! I actually left class a few minutes early with Victoria because I was meeting a friend for lunch and had to have time shower. It was like playing hooky from real class!! So mischievous

this !

I quickly showered and dressed and ate a few almonds to take the edge off my hunger…

IMG_0002 (640x480) (2)

…and I arrived at EarthFare to meet Kelly for lunch! We went to Davidson together and were both history majors! We just reconnected and need to hang out more since she’s just up the road. Kelly is an IRONMAN and is going PRO. She’s an amazing athlete and works as a personal trainer. Future business partners perhaps!?

IMG_0009 (640x480) (2)

I loaded up on delicious EarthFare salad bar bites…..a little heavy on the orange and light on the green! I went crazy with the butternut squash + sweet potatoes 🙂 Also found some yummy tofu, hummus, pineapples, and green beans. We were talking so much I actually didn’t quite finish it all – imagine that!?

IMG_0007 (480x640)

IMG_0005 (640x480) (2)

I also gave Kombucha another try. I had it once before and it was just OK. I like to live dangerously (said in Austin Powers accent) so I got the GREEN flavor instead of the safe looking raspberry.

Report: it was awesome!! Reminded me of a blend of apple juice, ginger ale and BEER. The green grit floating around was a little strange, but the flavor was really nice. Can’t wait to drink it again (but my wallet already says no 🙁 )

Packing up for class now. TTYL!

I have never tried a kombucha but it sounds so nutritious. Today I gave a persimmon a try and I think I’m allergic 🙁 It actually kind of scared me to have a reaction IN Whole Foods.

Was it the right kind/ripe enough? The first time I tried one I just bit in and my mouth went super dry and I felt like I was having an allergic reaction. Then I found this link: http://www.tonytantillo.com/fruits/persimmons.html. If not though, yikes!

I LOVE Kombucha tea! I live in Houston and you can only get them at Whole Foods…
The best flavors in my opinion are:
    Multi-Green (like you had today)
    Cosmic Cranberry
    Superfruits
    Passionberry
I am totally addicted! However, I don’t drink much (am a total light-weight) and the first time I drank one (I was at work) I got a BUZZ! I was scared to drink them while driving and while at work after that. Is that crazy?

And whatever you do, everyone, DO NOT shake them. At all. They will spew all over you. And then it’s stinks like vinegar. I can almost hear the “cha-ching” when it happens since they are so pricey.

Love your blog, this is my first post. Thanks for the kale chips recipe – I make it all the time!

Yes, there’s a little blurb on the bottle that says, “Please note. Due to the fermentation, this product may contain a trace amount of alcohol (less than .5%).”

Also, bought some Scottish Oats this morning and tried them – YUM! Love Bob’s Red Mill products. My favorite is their 5 Grain hot cereal.

        Cheers, have a great day!

I love Kombucha, but the multi-green always scares me a bit. Glad to know how it tasted, I will have to try that next time. It’s so good and fizzy, I don’t even notice the vinegar smell. It’s just kombucha to me! 🙂 I wish we had an EarthFare in Orlando, that lunch looks delish and nutrish. 🙂

I love kombucha and was in a similar predicament for months. I wanted to drink it everyday–but at $4 a bottle–WAY too much.

Now I brew and bottle it at home for 1/100th of the cost off the shelf. There are numerous tutorials online (Google:”make kombucha”) and you can even start it from an unfinished bottle of store-bought.

Yogi Tea makes a great Kombucha Green Tea that is much more budget friendly ($4-5 per box of 16 tea bags) you can brew at home. This particular flavor is really tasty and good for you! Kombucha is made with a mixture of healthy bacteria and yeast which produce probiotic acid making it great for the digestive system. It is also good for circulation and gently detoxifying.
