Bada$$

Mystery guest revealed – AnneP is hard core! She is mid-way through a long road trip from Tampa to DC and stopped in for a leg-stretching run and lunch in KERFville.

IMG_0961 (640x480)

I took her to the greenway and we literally pounded out 5 miles at a fast pace. We both typically run right around a 9-minute mile, so we challenged each other to break 9 minutes. Our Garmins said we averaged about 8:53, so rock on. I am egg-zausted and my legs are so tired and I was huffing and puffing just to shave off that extra 10 seconds or so. And it was HOT. When I pulled in the last few yards, I was doing a 7:00 mile. Need an Epsom Salt bath.

Interesting that our Garmins were slightly off from each other – Anne’s hit 5 miles 0.3 miles before mine (hence the extra 10 seconds).

IMG_0965 (640x480)

What better way to recharged than an EarthFare salad!

IMG_0969 (640x480)

We debated fancy lunch places, but all we really wanted were big salad bar salads.

IMG_0973 (480x640) IMG_0972 (480x640)

And Honest Tea, which I am now a big fan of!

IMG_0970 (480x640)

Thought of the day –

IMG_0971 (640x480)

I think EarthFare knew we were coming because all of my favorites were out: The.Best.Salmon, sweet potato salad, BBQ tofu, baked tofu, butternut squash salad, kale salad, pesto pasta salad. Plus lots of veggies and little bites of things

IMG_0968 (640x480)

So stuffed right now! (Dressing on the side that I barely used)

#HLS

I still have so many Summit recap posts I want to read, and there were so many of you who I wanted to get to know more – and even more who I didn’t even get a chance to meet! The whole point of the Summit was to create a platform for bloggers and readers to get together in one city and play. As I mentioned in the opening remarks on Saturday, writing to you all each day is no big deal for me, but being there in person was very intimidating! I’m actually pretty shy in social settings, especially big groups, so I apologize if I didn’t get to meet you in person. All the more reason to get started on HLS 2010

 this !

***

Are all the funky characters gone? Helon told me about an auto format setting in Word that WLW also had and I changed it (turning off smart "") and it seems to have worked….

***

Off to the farmer’s market with my hub! Can’t wait to sit down and relax tonight.

Kath – I’ve been thinking about a career in nutrition for a while, but I’m not sure what I would do. I would not want to work in a hospital/clinical setting or work 9-5 hours. I want a variety of tasks and don’t necessarily want to do a lot of consulting. I am very interested in food / healthy lifestyles / fitness, and would really like to make a career out of it, but I’m not sure how. Any advice or suggestions?

    Hi Kath,

I’ve been reading your blog for quite some time now, and I decided to start one of my own. I have no blogging experience, and I know it’s not that great, but I wondered if you might take a look at it and let me know what you think and if you have any tips to make it better?

    Thanks!

Nice job with the 5 miles today! I’m off to do mine at 6:15 tonight. Here in Boston its a hot one today… 90’s and VERY humid! Should be fun. And your comment on you being shy/quiet in social settings suprised me. You seem to be very outgoing, have an awesome personality and be confident!

I also love to drink Honest Tea and appreciate how well the bottles are designed with the quote on the cap and differnt artwork on the “T”. I believe President Obama is a big fan of one of the berry flavors as it was reported as his choice of drink on the campaign trail.

    Traci ,
I’m OK with public speaking (sans the hand shaking!) but I don’t like mingle events. They make me feel awkward and nervous!
