At Your Leisure

Yesterday’s Body Pump was hard, so today we celebrated activity with a walk downtown. To the market!

Market-2Blog

There were lots of spring things to see – greens, herbs, flowers, chicks!

We sipped on some minty green tea for a refreshment

IMG_7592Blog

Stopped into Feast for a few more things [also sampled my way around the store – they always have the BEST samples!]

IMG_7603Blog

And then headed back home, walking about 4 miles total.

IMG_7593Blog

We spotted this little fella on our way! He’s friends with the Easter Bunny and was scouting out his route for tomorrow.

IMG_7601Blog

We couldn’t decide of our oyster festival, which runs from 1PM to 7PM should be lunch or dinner. Matt was getting hungry and it’s a 40 minute drive, so we decided to make salads for lunch and then have an early dinner at the festival – with a beer for a snack!

IMG_7607Blog

Mixed greens from the market, dressed in olive oil, honey and salt. Plus carrot, pepper, bread cubes, cranberries and I PROMISE this is the last time you’ll see this week-old bean dip!

Covered in some smoked paprika

Anddddddddd we’re off!

    Hey Kath!

Love your blog! I don’t know if you’ve already done this or not, but I’d love to see a post (or series of posts maybe) on your grocery shopping habits and budgets. I am in the midst of working this out in my household and would love advice in terms of: how often you go, where you go, how much you spend. Judging by how much fresh, organic food you guys eat, it looks like it would get expensive!!

You must live in some nice walk-able areas. Hmm, need to find that 😉

      Hey Sophie,
I’d love to write this series, but I really don’t have it all under control myself! Matt and I just had a conversation today about how we’re spending too much on groceries and we dont’ know why. But it’s definitely on my radar…Kath

Don’t you love it when the weather turns around in time for the farmer’s market? Love it! I can’t wait to return home to California*, where I can enjoy the amazing weather and farmer’s markets in my area. Love markets! PS. I love your sunglasses. 🙂 *I’m in Boston for college right now, and I’m pretty sure most of the markets won’t open until May.

That little Rat/mouse is someones lost pet.. That is a domestic marked variety.. You might want to check the lost and found in your paper..

Just echoing CB–that’s very definitely a domestic rat (the wild ones look…basically like what you’d expect a sewer rat to look like), and it looks scared because it’s out and lost. I get that not everyone is a rodent person, but that photo makes me really sad. I hope someone else passing by who was more familiar with rodents stopped and helped it.

That rat definitely looks like a domesticated rat, the coloration and the fact that it hung around long enough for a picture. It must either be a lost pet or someone released it. It wont survive outside. Poor thing.

Your photographs are stunning, Kath! I’ve been reading your blog for about two years now, and honestly…it just gets better and better 🙂 I’m sure you probably don’t measure, but how much olive oil would you approximate that you use for a salad like the one shown above? I’m always experimenting with ratios of EVOO/honey/etc. And I’m curious what amount you go with!
Thanks and keep up the great posts,
