Another Reason To Drink Wine

They just keep coming!! Tonight’s reason: a leftover bottle from girl’s night. I used to be all about drinking wine before dinner, but now I am in love with drinking it during dinner. It sure does make the food taste that much better.

This afternoon I got hungry ’round 4:30 and was 100% cravin’ carbs. I put together this bowl of kashis, SmartFood popcorn and brazil nuts and it did the trick perfectly.

IMG_1085 (640x480)

I got this SmartFood at BlogHer and was soooooooo impressed. It was the best crunchy toffee kettle corn I’ve ever had.

IMG_1083 (480x640)

With 5 grams of fiber too!

IMG_1084 (480x640)

Dinner tonight was a farmer’s market fun feast!

IMG_1088 (640x480)

  • Farmer’s market eggplant
  • Farmer’s market grass-fed beef (about 6 oz)
  • Farmer’s market basil
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (wishing we’d bought fresh ones…)
  • Sherry
  • S+P
  • Garlic

We were supposed to serve it over pasta, but there was so much eggplant that we thought it would be fine without. It was!

IMG_1091 (640x480)

Served with a slice of 20% whole wheat ciabatta

Have my photos been looking kinda worn and grainy to you? 🙁

I tucked Matt into bed at 7:30!!! and am tied up some things on the computer. It was a VERY productive day!!!! Lots of cleaning, writing and doing.

Tomorrow is wide open and I hope to get even more done. T-6 days till classes start!

How did you cook the eggplant? It looks so tender and yummy!

I have noticed that your photos look a little different the past week or so. Different setting or something? I’m trying to get used to my Nikon D40 digi cam, but I keep going back to my old Sony ’cause it’s old and easy lol.

I used to eat Smartfood at lunch every day in high school. That’s back when it was just cheddar covered junk. It’s nice to see they’ve changed they’re product and high school kids now have a healthier option than I did.

The photos do look a little different. Maybe it’s the lighting setting on the camera?

I’ve seen this popcorn before but I’ve been hesitant to try it. Now that I see you say it’s tasty, I think it’s worth giving it a try. I will remember to pick up a bag next shopping trip.

I think my all time favorite popcorn treat in the world, is Harry and David’s gormouet popcorn. OMG, it’s amazing. This Smart Pop looks pretty close, actually, and a whole lot healthier. 🙂

I bought the smartfood popcorn once, took it for lunch at work, and let my fellow dietetic interns try it. They all convinced me that it has this horrible aftertaste, and now I can’t eat it anymore! I don’t even know if it has a funky aftertaste or if it’s all in my head now. haha.
Anyone know if there are artificial sweeteners in it? That could be doing it.

    Jenn ,
Just in a pan with some olive oil on medium high.

    Erica ,
Wish that could be my market too!

    Jamie ,
From Kohl’s. It’s part of Bobby Flay’s line, I believe.
