All Things Bright And Beautiful

DSC02186

Good Friday!! I am really enjoying seeing the oatmeal contest entries come in! You guys are hilarious 🙂

I started the day with oats, of course. And added raisins again because I loved yesterday’s chew so much! Today’s combo:

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup water plus 2 tbsp to compensate for raisins sucking up water
  • 1/2 medium banana
  • Pinch salt
  • 2 tbsp-ish wheatberries
  • 2 tbsp-ish raisins
  • 1/5-ish granola plank
  • Spoonful PB

I ate in the garden and enjoyed the cicadas singing as I chomped. It’s so beautiful out there this morning!

DSC02183

And had a cup of tea with milk as well –

A Pretty Penney

I came across a fun offer through BlogHer recently – the chance to order some products from JCPenney’s new Linden Street Line in exchange for a blog review of the items. BlogHer and JCPenney gave us $500 giftcards to use for online shopping!!

Check out the full review at my new site for product reviews, Kath Eats Reviews.

Naughty Bear!

Look who escaped from his kid-sized rocking chair perch last night! He scared me to death when I walked down the stairs!

Love your house. Very pretty. And scary teddy bear is too funny. I can tell that the husband has a great sense of humor!

But honestly Kath, I’m a bit disappointed…where was the booze in your breakfast of champions 😀

The first oatmeal photo will the flowers in the background is very pretty.

Heh, the teddy bear is hilarious!

The oatmeal sounds incredibly good, especially with the granola. Dried cranberries are great in oatmeal, too.

I’ve got an idea for my oatmeal picture so I’ll be working on that tomorrow…I want free Honest Foods stuff! 😀 Actually, anything free is amazing…especially $500 for house-wares…that’s awesome! Looks like you picked up some cool stuff, too!
Poor little bear…he’s probably scared being up that high! 🙁 Hope you rescued him!

I have really been brainstorming some oatmeal entries for the contest. If any one wants to get some free Udi’s Granola, they have offered to send a free package to one of my readers so I came up with a similar contest but with Granola. The deadline isn’t until next Wednesday, so that everyone has time to enter Kath’s first: http://healthylawyer.blogspot.com/2008/08/contest.html

Hi Kath! Today I did the Husband’s bagels recipe. They came out very well, the only thing I didn’t like was them seemed a little bit uncooked inside (of course it was my fault! don’t worry!). But they were delicious! Thank you and the husband for the recipe! To see how the bagels turned out, see my blog:

Kath, I don’t think it is safe for Churton to be climbing on light fixtures. Does he need to come and live with me?

I’ve been singing that hymn all week: All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small…

Aw, poor bear! He looks so forlorned up there! I just LOVE that cool table you have…its inspiring me to break some plates and create one of my own! I know my mother in law made one…I’ll have to ask her how…

Hi Kath, I’m trying really hard to come up with a good oatmeal idea 😀

Also, I tried your “pumpkin pie” recipe (with egg white and cinnamon) and it’s awesome. I had it for dessert 3 days in a row.

Hi Kath–thanks so much for adding me to your blogroll! That just made my day. 🙂

And I now have “All Things Bright and Beautiful” stuck in my head, too. The question is, which tune? I believe there are several. I think I need to reread James Harriot now…

    Jenn,
No design help – but we got the black and white furniture from Karen’s house after she moved, so we were lucky to inherit cool stuff. I love magazines like BH&G and Cottage Living and try to copy some of their styles. I also donate things I never use to Good Will and de-clutter all the time.

    Deb,
Haha – maybe I need to combine my favorite food with my second favorite: Wine Oatmeal!

    magpie ,
Glad you liked it! I haven’t had pumpkin in ages. It must be time to crack open a can!

    Shan ,
They were probably called “Hard red winter wheat.” I think wheatberries is just their nickname. They are in the bulk section. Which EarthFare was it? A big one?
