All Signs Point To…

Matt and I had planed on running a 10K this morning, but I woke up super stiff, sore and hungry and Matt had a week’s worth of sleep to catch up on. And it’s 28* out there. A run just didn’t seem to make sense!

[Note, do not do a ton of pull-ups without having done pull-ups in months. My whole trunk has been ripped open and I can’t move my arms!!!]

I let Matt sleep while I came down to an excellent breakfast

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • ~2 tbsp 9 grain cereal
  • Lots of water
  • ~1/4 cup milk
  • Chia seeds
  • Half small banana
  • 1/3 cup pumpkin
  • Cinnamon
  • Crunchy Coconut Granola
  • 1 heaping tsp Cacao Bliss (this stuff is amazing melted on oats!)
  • 1 tsp pumpkin butter
  • 1 heaping tsp Barney Butter

Christmas Blend made with a splash of egg nog! Wish I could say it was amazing, but it didn’t taste all that different from milk.

We’re going to shower and head uptown to see our friends cross the finish line for the Thunder Road half and marathon (although we may have missed the halvsies!) Then Xmas shopping, tree shopping (??), a late afternoon 10K, and an Xmas party!

Sleep and food are definitely more important than a morning run! Sad to hear that the eggnog wasn’t that special in your coffee because I’d been contemplating doing the same thing.

I got a sample of that cacao bliss to review and I can’t wait. it sounds so exotic.
It’s super sunny here which makes me want to run but there’s also 4 inches of snow and single digit temperatures. Oh the joys/ifortune of being home and not having my school’s gym.

Sorry to hear the egg nog wasn’t amazing in the coffee. I was wondering that when I saw Tina do it on her blog.
Have a great time Christmas shopping!

    Hi Kath!
I know you don’t count calories anymore, but I was just curious to see if you had any idea how many calories your oatmeal usually is?

    Have a great Saturday!! 🙂

      Sara,
Most of my oatmeal bowls land around 400 calories – sometimes more if I add a few extra toppings. I think they seem like they’d be a lot more, but I keep the toppings on the scant side (most of the time 🙂 ) so they’re not quite as indulgent as they might look up close in photos.

I love it. I wouldn’t have gone running either. It’s going to hit 78 degrees here in Florida. I know I should be loving it, but it’s that or hotter 300 days of the year and I am OVER IT! 🙂 Enjoy Christmas shopping, we’re going to be working on that today too. Good luck braving the crowds today!

When I used to run, I blew off runs when the temperature was subzero… always. I wasn’t the most dedicated runner, hahaha. Your breakfast looks amazing and delicious and cute all at once in that zebra bowl! The nut butter + cacao bliss are drool-worthy. Mmmm.

Wouldn’t it be great to have summer back?! It’s early afternoon and still only has warmed to 26 degrees here in Boston…with the wind chill it feels like 8 deg. Hate it! Really makes running outside not so much fun.

Iphones not working with gloves SUCKS. I’m dealing with the same issue. I have noticed if the end of my glove is just a little damp I can sometimes make it work without removing the glove. Cutting off the fingertip of a thumb part of the glove is a good idea, Think I might try it!
