Adventure x26

What an adventure that was!!

Matt and I absolutely love:

  • Biking
  • Wine tasting
  • Multi-course dinners
  • Outdoor dining
  • Live music

And we conquered all of ’em!

We set out on our biking adventure just after lunch. We’re about 4.5 miles to the mall and decided to do some shopping. We took the long way!

IMG_0138 (480x640)

Our MOM’S both sent us some $$ for spring clothes shopping!! THANKS MOMS! [And Lillian!]

IMG_0179 (640x480)

Once there, we hit up Banana Republic, J Crew and GAP.

  • J Crew clothes fit OK in the butt but were too big in the waist
  • Banana clothes fit me well in the waist but were too tight in the butt
  • GAP shorts are on sale 30% off and fit well!!

I got 3 pairs, including my first ever "long" shorts. They looked cute instead of frumpy!

Matt got 3 polo shirts at Banana with a gift card he had from Xmas

Next stop: BATHING SUITS

How many years has it been since I’ve put on a one-piece? Maybe 20!?

IMG_0140 (640x480)

IMG_0141 (640x480)

After figuring out my size (what does 34 vs. 36 mean?! Your length!?) I finally settled on a TYR. The Speedos were awful, and NIKE and Reebock were flopping off of my body and revealing way too much. This one suited me – heh heh 😉 One pieces are SO WEIRD to put on!

IMG_0145 (640x480)

Back on the bike around 5:00!

IMG_0146 (480x640)

Don’t try this at home: we took the long way again along one of my favorite neighborhoods

IMG_0148 (480x640)

Photographer

IMG_0150 (480x640)

We arrived safe and sound to the next shopping center – with a STOWAWAY!

IMG_0152 (640x480)

IMG_0151 (480x640)

Our destination was Brixx Pizza – a classic and old favorite. I was ready for a beer sampler!

HOWEVER, we stumbled upon an extensive wine tasting at the Foxcroft Wine Bar!

Must.Seize.The.Moment.

IMG_0154 (640x480)

We sampled about 10 wines – all were excellent!! Matt and I <3 wine tasting together. We did honeymoon in Sonoma after all!

After realizing that the wine bar had a food menu, we changed our plans and decided we were in a wine mood and would have dinner there.

I ordered a taste pour of a chard and he got a pinot gris. Both were excellent. We were thrilled to be seated outside within earshot of live music!

IMG_0157 (640x480)

Hydration:

IMG_0155 (640x480)

IMG_0160 (480x640)

IMG_0162 (640x480)

IMG_0163 (640x480)

For appetizers we ordered a beef + barley soup

IMG_0166 (640x480)

IMG_0168 (640x480)

And the hummus platter

IMG_0167 (480x640)

The red onions were promptly removed from my couscous! But the hummus and pita were awesome. TONS of flava!!

IMG_0169 (640x480)

For my entree I ordered a blue cheese + walnut salad topped with a crabcake.

IMG_0172 (640x480)

Wish the salad had been bigger, and when I ordered I had that feeling that something was wrong – forgot to order the dressing on the side!! I don’t really like salad dressings very much…

…But the crab cake was excellent!!!! Just like they make them in Maryland

 this !

IMG_0173 (640x480)

Matt got a chorizo and avocado and tomato and prosciutto pasta that he thought was just OK. It was pretty high in oil…

IMG_0171 (640x480)

And how did we end up with more wine!?!?!?

I got a red blend – CLIFF in honor of my dad – and Matt got a Zin from Sonoma. His was better. We had assumed he knew to bring us the TASTE portions but we ended up with full glasses. Hate it when that happens!!

IMG_0175 (640x480)

Still ended up drinking my full glass….which resulted in hiccups for our whole bike ride home

Good choice with the TYR, I have found the fabric from which they are constructed to outlast both Nike and Speedo suits. Yes the fit is superior in the beginning. I think you will be pleased. Have a wonderful free weekend.

TYR is a trusty brand for swim suits. As ri’chele mentioned, my speedo didn’t last as long as TYR.

Good thing is he has work, bad thing is, he needs some fresh air! Anyway, looks like a very nice way to start the weekend! Enjoy your evening together!

When shopping for pants, make sure they fit in the thigh/butt area. If the waist is too large, it’s not major surgery to have it taken in.

Sadly, I’m blessed with a non-standard body and have to have most of my stuff tailored (mostly pants – bless my short legs). A hassle, but it means that I look at clothes in a different way – practically anything (even bras; I’ve had that done!) can be altered. 🙂

What a wonderful way to spend a Friday! Your post reminded me that it’s time to invest n a one-piece bathing suit again…a task I’m dreading with all of my might. One-piece bathing suits are not made for short ladies with big busts such as myself. Oh well, there’s got to be a brand out there to “suit” me as well.

Just wanted to add .. the suit size is typically the size of your bra. You always want the suit to be snug when you buy it, because it will stretch/expand the more you wear it. Make sure you wash you suit with fresh water after swimming … it will help make the suit last longer.
