A Whole New World

IMG_0321

Me via G-chat: "Going to make breakfast now…..we have sun!!”

Mom: “Oh good. You will like it! We got ours back two days ago.”

IMG_0320

Like it, I do!

IMG_0327

IMG_0324

Big bowl of whipped banana oatmeal with cottage cheese, cinnamon and vanilla topped with almond butter, coconut and chocolate covered sunflower seeds. Quite the happy breakfast today!

IMG_0325

I made a half cup of oats instead of 1/3 today because I was feeling extra hungry. Loved every bite!

IMG_0323

Served with hot tea. Why is it that rain goes with warmth and sun goes with cold? Can’t wait until everyday is sunny + warm.

yay for the sunshine!! it’s been sunny here all week, and i’m just loving it. i would be happy if it never went away. 🙂 isn’t it crazy how much of a difference 1/2 cup of oats vs 1/3 cup of oats makes? i do the same thing when i’m feeling extra hungry and it always seems like there’s SO much more oats that i would expect.

When you make 1/3 cup oats, how much liquid do you add? I’ve always just done what the box says–1/2 cup oats and 1 cup water/milk.

2/3 water, 1/3 milk for soupier, equal parts for thicker

How does your rain chain hold up during heavy rain storms? Thinking about adding one to my house and am curious how it handles heavy rain storms versus traditional gutter down spouts. Thanks, long time reader first time commenter

Love the happy choc covered sunflower seeds! The reason that rain goes with warmth and sun goes with cold is because the cloud cover actually holds the warmth in kind of like a blanket, and a clear sky allows it to escape! Its still raining in the northeast, but that’s ok for me today because I need to stay in and study! Looks like more sun’s coming to us tomorrow 🙂

When I first saw your post, I immediately began singing “A Whole New World” from Disney’s Aladdin! I also had a question about using a rice cooker for oats; what are the advantages to making them this way? Is it faster or less time consuming? Thank you and enjoy your sunny day!

It just means there’s less hands on in the morning. And it’s easy to take out one portion and leave another portion for a sleeping partner. But the clean up and prep time are about the same.
