A Spoonful Of Butter

IMG_9404Blog

I think Smoothie In A Bowls are equally as delicious as oatmeal to me! I put oats in bowl, so they’re really just oats in a different form 🙂 I updated the Tribute To Oatmeal page yesterday with all the latest concoctions, but I think I need a page for SIABs too!

IMG_9412Blog

This bowl was full of clumps of garden-fresh strawbs, coconut butter, sunflower butter and some Hemp Plus granola. There is nothing more delicious than chewy clumps floating in a creamy melted-ice cream liquid!!

Maybe clusters of butter[flies]

 this !

Strawberry Banana SIAB

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 banana
  • Handful strawberries
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 date (first time trying this and I forgot about it until just now!)
  • Toppings: Hemp Plus granola, Cinnamon Vanilla Sunflower Butter, and the last bits of my coconut butter jar, more strawberries!

A sample of Gunpowder Green tea – still too bitter!

 Happy Birthday Angela!!

I worked last night into the evening to finish up some freelance work so the week is now wide open to taking care of bakery business. But first, Body Pump!

Thanks for updating the page. I refer to it often.

And green tea is always bitter. I’m just not a fan, but I drink it anyways because of the health benefits.

I’m excited to see what the bakery holds this week!!!

I love smoothies in a cup or a bowl, even though I have never had one in a bowl! A smoothie would brighten my morning right about now!

Yum! That looks delicious. I loooove eating my smoothies with a spoon. I’m a texture girl, so lots of different textures in one meal make it so much more fun and interesting for me!

I have already been to Body Pump this morning. You know how you said it seems like each class you feel challenged in a different area, even when you do not change your weight. Well, I feel the same. Today triceps were especially hard and shoulders seemed easy. Just never know!

Your green tea is brown! Haha. I work in a teahouse and still don’t enjoy gunpowder – but a trick is to not use so hot water and watch it steep. If you’re using looseleaf then you can see when the pellets unfurl and it’s done steeping. If you’re doing a teabag then just experiment with the time you steep it, you can go as low as a minute if the water is really hot.

*sigh* you make me miss Body Pump so much!

I’ll definitely take a spoonful of butter over a spoon of sugar any day!

My friends and family always think my love for melted ice cream is gross, but I actually look forward to reaching the bottom of my ice cream bowl and spoonin’ up the melted stuff. It tastes just like a milkshake!

    Kath,
just from my opinion as a die hard gunpowder green tea drinker,
your cup of tea looks too dark ,as in steeped a touch too long.
If my tea gets that dark I find it too bitter and undrinkable too…

don’t give up on it yet(I also found certain kinds too bitter and once
I settled on ones i liked, like Numi Gunpowder green and Twinings Gunpowder Green,
I only will drink those two!!!)

I don’t know how you brew your green tea, but if you want it to not be bitter than using the right temperature water is really important. I read somewhere that the water should be just hot enough that it’s giving off steam and maybe bubbling, but not boiling hot. It also gets bitter if you let it steep for too long.

Hope that helps! Jealous of your strawberry patch, btw 🙂

Even though green tea is typically bitter-ish, I’ve heard that most types can become too bitter if brewed with water that is too hot! (Needs to be cooled down a bit from boiling) Maybe this was the issue?

Silly question — but do you cook the oats at all first in your SIABs? Or do they get soft enough just by being in milk? Thanks!

And btw, I completely agree with one of your last posts where you said you like warm strawberries better than cold. Today I just added a handful to my oatmeal while it was cooking — they got super soft and yummy and the whole bowl of oatmeal tasted fab!
