6.2

Gotta milk up that 26 mirror all I can today!

Chuggin’ along this morning! I did some writing, lots of blog-related work and then hit the gym.

Boy is it summer here now! Just the smells to the gym have changed – hot asphalt, hot wood chips, hot honeysuckle. 10* makes a big difference.

I was really excited to go to the gym today, but I wish I could have moved the Stepmill outside. I wonder why they don’t have outdoor machines that are in the shade. If I could run/walk/bike outside everyday I would, but the sun is killer on the skin and with my past foot troubles I can’t do that much back-to-back. I hate going in the AC and shade to exercise when it’s nice out, but I suppose I would have doubled my sweat production had I been out in the heat – esp. in July + August!

I biked there and back (15 minutes each way) and spent 30 minutes climbing stairs. Then 10 doing pullups, dips, jumping lunges and squats.

I took a quick shower but was too sweaty to put on make-up or clothes so I threw on a strapless dress and came down for lunch. We don’t turn on our AC until we can’t stand the humidity any longer, usually around the 4th of July.

Lunch was fabulous!

IMG_7105 (1024x768)

I chopped up some of our leftover grilled veggies and cut the kernels off of a corn

IMG_7103 (1024x768)

And then stuffed those with some lemony hummus (LOVE this hummus – will be making more) and spinach on a lightly toasted pita

IMG_7109 (1024x768)

Homph gomph!

IMG_7110 (1024x768)

Plus a peachy peach, which wasn’t nearly as good as it looks. It was crunchy 🙁

IMG_7108 (1024x768)

And some spinach drizzled with honey and sprinkled with salt

IMG_7106 (1024x768)

‘Twas the perfect lunch. I only wish the love of my life where here to eat it with me today!

On The Go, On The Ocean

I’ll be doing a handful of guest blog posts for Breathe this summer. Here’s the first about cruise eating: On The Go, On The Ocean.

Wedding Highlights

As promised!

Highlights of the highlights – It’s funny what you notice in slow motion:

– At around 30 seconds, watch Larbs’ face when my mom puts her hand on her arm. LOL!

-At around 50 seconds you’ll see me lower my bouquet down to my waist. That is twenty-four years of my mom telling me that brides often carry their bouquets too high and it hides their face and dress. Good thing I remembered at the last minute!

I’m off to pack for our overnight to RDU. I’ll see you from my parents’ house tonight (and by Twitter –> KathEats via iPhone until then!)

Machines outside…there’s a local gym in town that has the spinning gym outside under an awning. Weather is better for it here in So. Cal. Sadly, while I enjoyed the free test week, $120/month was a bit too steep for me!

However when I’ve watched my video/looked at my album, people have commented to me, “oh and you kept your veil on.” (like it’s this AWFUL thing!) In hindsight, I wish that I would have taken it off after the ceremony. But heck, how many times in life can you wear a VEIL!

Thankfully, my gym has huge windows so when you run or ellipticize (!) you’re looking out… sometimes it’s like you’re running in the snow but it’s warm, other times it’s sunny but you’re not too hot so it works well. Plus the windows are the kind you can see out of but no one can see into.

Maybe when you open the KERF Center, the gym can include that 😉

    hi! Im Kath.

I'm a Registered Dietitian, healthy eater, and mom of two from Charlottesville, Virginia. Here you’ll find a healthy mix of real-life meals made from whole ingredients balanced with the pleasures of life, including buttercream frosting and good wine. Plus a sprinkle of nutrition, home life, beauty, parenting, and travel.
