6.2.10

Today’s date is my birthday backwards: 10.26 <—-> 6.2.10

I’ve waited my whole life for this day!!

And can you tell our wedding date was planned that way!?

6.2.07

Love of my life!!

A106-0363 (533x800)

It’s been a long day already!!

My alarm went off at 4:45 this morning – I wanted to get a workout in before work so I can relax this afternoon …and gear up for dinner with a visiting celebrity!

I knew I had to race to the gym if I wanted the time to crunch together. I was there by 5:20 and home again by 6:20. In the meantime, I did 35 minutes on the Stairmaster (longer than I’ve been able to do in a while!) and then 10 minutes of super heavy, single set weights.

I was dripped sweat before, during and after my shower! It’s those times I wish we used air conditioning 🙂

Nothing an icy SIAB can’t fix!

IMG_4097 (640x427)

I love my Vita-mix a little more each time I use it….

IMG_4078 (640x427)

IMG_4091 (640x427)

Today’s Fabuloso Mix

  • 1 big handful ice
  • 1 scoop Vega Vanilla Almond Smoothie Mix
  • 3/4 cup coconut milk (LOVE this stuff BUT I wish I were higher in protein. The main reason I add milk to my smoothies is for the protein, so organic cow and soy milk make sense, but almond milk, rice, hemp, coconut – where’s the substance here!?)
  • 1/4 cup Organic Valley Plain Yogurt drink (for more protein!)
  • 1 ripe banana
  • Handful spinach

Toppings:

  • Hemp Plus (the last of my box – need more! This is THE BEST granola on SIABs!)
  • Naturally Nutty White Chocolate Coconut Fluff Sauce

IMG_4095 (640x427)

Nut Butter Fluff Sauce: 1 tbsp nut butter + 1 tbsp milk. Stir, nuke 10 seconds, stir.

IMG_4080 (640x427)

With a side of tea that I brought home from Kericho, Kenya myself!

Best Of The Best

After a lot of hard work, Naturally Nutty Tri Packs are back in stock! This week only!

Vanilla AB IMG_2701 (640x427) IMG_4619 (640x427)

From the description:

White Chocolate Coconut Peanut Butter –>  Decadence meets simplicity. The peanut butter is sweet and nutty, and you crunch your way through pieces of coconut and flax seed. Divine!

Vanilla Almond Butter –> The first time I tasted this almond butter I squealed "VANILLA FROSTING!" The best of vanilla and almond butter whirled together in a gritty blend that will remind you of the buttercream frosting on your wedding cake

Butter Toffee Peanut Butter –> And lastly, the award-winning butter toffee – and my first Naturally Nutty taste! Unique, slightly gritty, with a richness that is unmatched. Don’t fear – there’s barely any butter in it! The caramelized toffee flavor is what shines the most. Also features flax and hemp seeds!

Order ’em while they’re hot – there are 45 units. Since they’re handmade, they’ll take 3-5 days to ship, so please be patient while the nuts are ground.

Speaking of nuts, I’m going nuts!!

Off to work.

Kath….Happy Anniversary….but I must ask….why oh why do you not use air conditioning? I live in Raleigh and I couldn’t imagine not using it. Are you doing this to save money or to live greener? Do you use air conditioning in your cars? I noticed last winter, you guys didn’t turn on your heat very often either. Is this a health thing I’m missing?

I think it’s awesome that you don’t use A/C, but I’m wondering the same thing as to your motivation. I know there are lots of potential reasons: not using the A/C would both save money and be greener, plus it makes it easier to enjoy being outdoors in the summer (not such a striking contrast between inside and outside).

One part environmental, one part $$$.

We do use it in August when it gets simply unbearable, but right now, we prefer to breathe fresh outdoor air, hear birds chirping and feel the wind. And I do use it in my car, but only when it’s hot. Most of the time I like the windows down!

Happy anniversary! What a fun day it must be to celebrate.

I drink rice milk, even though it isn’t high in protein, but I choose it because milk and most other dairy substitutes upset my stomach. I figure that I get enough protein from other food sources, but the rice milk at least provides other fortified vitamins. And I love the taste.

I’m interested that you say that about the protein content of your milk. A few years back I had switched to drinking oat and rice milk (we don’t have coconut or hemp here in Aus), but then I met with a nutritionist who pretty much told me such drinks were a bit of a waste, and that I should return to soy because of the protein. So that’s what I’ve been drinking ever since.

But enough about me… Happy Anniversary!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks of dates and numbers like that. I count tons of stuff. It is such a habit I formed a long time ago.

Happy anniversary! Love your number fetish 🙂 I also would love to use more almond/hemp/coconut milk but then my breakfast has no protein! Maybe I’ll do a combo of soy/cow’s and fun nut milks…

I was also sad that the Naturally Nutty sold out quickly…However (while normally I’d never want to take business away from Kath’s Open Sky!) I found out Naturally Nutty also offers 3-packs on their web site, and they’re on special right now, so go there if you have a strong need for the nut butter!

    Happy Anniversary Kath!
