2 Matts, 4 Bourbons

Foodblog-6769 Foodblog-6754

Happy Saturday! We kicked off our weekend with a double date last night with Larbs and Matt who are here for Easter. Grammie and Pea are too – and they had a fun time with Mazen, including seeing a beautiful rainbow!

Foodblog-6732

We walked downtown and decided to appetizer hop around. First stop was Alley Light with our favorite bartender Micah!

Foodblog-6760 Foodblog-6752

We are a bourbon-loving family and each described our drink of choice. Larbs’ was “spirit forward” as she says with hints of anise, Kanz’s was on the minty side and Matt and I both ordered the Nelson County Gentleman – Rittenhouse rye, local birch, Root, Bob’s Peppermint, all carbonated and garnished with orange peel. It was incredible!

Foodblog-6759

At Alley Light we ordered the chorizo and chickpea dip plus piquillo peppers filled with cod & potato and garlic breadcrumbs – yum!

Foodblog-6762 Foodblog-6765

Next stop was Maya where we professed our love for red wine.

Foodblog-6771

Here we all shared fried oysters, pimento cheese fritters and a trio of sides: collard greens, mac and cheese and biscuits.

Our final stop was to Orzo to celebrate Ash and Sarah’s birthdays with a fun group of friends!

Foodblog-6786 Foodblog-6788

We finished the night with a charcuterie plate and more wine – ay yi yi!

Foodblog-6800 Foodblog-6799

A few healthy meals of late –

Yesterday’s smoked salmon and hearts of palm salad

Foodblog-6728

And this morning’s whipped banana oatmeal with almond butter drizzle!

Aww, Larbs is so pretty! Also, FYI, it’s “charcuterie plate.”

    Hey Kath!
Is there a way to turn off the “mobile” version of the blog on my iPhone? There are so many huge ads right in the middle of your posts, the “home” screen is hard to navigate, the font is huge, and your replies to comments blend right in…not a different color and not indented. Your blog has been my favorite for years and years…but it’s so hard to read it on my iPhone right now 🙁 I checked it on my iPad yesterday and it was much better. Is there a way to take this mobile version off and switch to a desktop version on my phone? Or…can you switch back to the old way for those of us checking on our phones? I absolutely love your blog but this new “mobile” version is making it tough to read…Thanks Kath! Xo!

Hey Fancy, I use the Chrome browser and in that browser there’s a settings button called “Request desktop site” that will revert it back. I don’t know a thing about the iPhone browser, but I know you can get Chrome on your phone. I am working with my ad manager to edit the program they use to display ads, but it’s a bit slow to do since they haven’t customized the ad placement before.

One from Whole Foods. A wild Alaskan. I’ll try to look at the name next time!

It’s amazing that you can put just three little balls on a plate and have it look amazing despite the food being so small compared to the plate. Looks absolutely gourmet! By the way, are those cheese balls?

I bet it’s nice to have your family there to see the new house!
Unrelated, for some reason on my iPhone, the posts from Blake show up great with no ads, but then I’m not able to view any of the comments (specially the oat ball and rice salad posts). The rest of the posts are still overtaken with bulky ads, but the comments are viewable. I just wanted you to be aware! I love your blog and read daily, but I’m really hoping that you fix the mobile version soon bc I read almost exclusively from my phone. Thanks!

Hey Kath! Can you tell me where Larbs’ black jacket is from? I love both of yours in one of the first pictures. Pretty sure I recognize yours as Stitch Fix but I’d love to find out the brand of hers, too! Thanks!

There are so many ads on your mobile site now – they really interrupt your posts. Can you move them?
