"You’ll Spoil Your Dinner"

Howdy folks!

This afternoon I ventured over to Costco for a few items – and drooled on the cake case…

DSC02318 DSC02319

I came home with: Kashi H2H, TP, toothpaste, almonds, cherry tomatoes, blueberries, tuna, salmon, and seltzer water.

DSC02320

Around 4:30 I decided on a snack of H2H with a few berries and milk. This is my very favorite cereal and beat all the others at Costco nutritionally by a mile (most fiber, least sugar, low calorie for volume).

DSC02322

But bad bad snack spoiled my appetite!! I waited all evening to get hungry for dinner but it wouldn’t come.

I ended up killing some time with a Mocktail: tonic, splash of cherry juice, 2 cherries, lime. The husband enjoyed a vodka tonic 🙂

DSC02324

We finally start dinner around 7:45. I was a little hungry, but still not much. Guess KH2H is a great filler!

Tonight’s menu was centered around grilled veggies: peppers, squash, cauliflower, tomatoes, more peppers.

And our delivery of the veggies was a box of mac and cheese I’ve had forever:

DSC02325

It’s the kind made with a powder packet and you mix in milk and butter (Smart Balance). I liked this box, but I prefer shells and a yellow cheese. (Annie’s is my favorite of the kinds I’ve tried in my adult healthy life.)

DSC02338

Topped also with a little parmesan –

I tried the husband’s after he drenched it in Sriracha and decided to join the party. Unfortunately I made it so spicy I couldn’t taste the cheese!

DSC02340

DSC02333

Around 9:00 I had a tiny bowl of strawberry ice cream to cleanse my spicy palate.

I can’t WAIT to unveil the oatmeal contest winners tomorrow! The husband is working hard on choosing and let me tell you he’s having a tough time. There were so many awesome combos and photos!!

I think everyone is looking forward to the contest results! That was such a great idea; I can’t wait to see some of the entries as I’m sure the photos will be good!

I love the phrase “in my adult healthy life” – good way to put it!

Okay, I can’t keep it to myself any longer. If someone reads this in the next 30 minutes and makes it and posts it. . .be my guest! Haha.

    Ideas. . .

    1. Charioats of Fire- with spicy chilies & cayenne pepper.
    2. Tomatoats. . .with tomatos and herbs and cheese.
    3. Mashed Potatoats. . . with mashed potatos. . .obviously, lol. . . and whatever you like on a baked potato.

I just have too much free time. What can I say? A kid with a summer vacation. 😀

I must say Costco has the BEST birthday cake; it’s every bit as delicious and tasty as it looks. My coworkers often get one of the cakes when we’re celebrating an office birthday party and I have to do everything in my body not to have more than just a small slice, but I must admit sometimes it’s bigger than just a small slice 😉
The mac and cheese with veggies looks quite yummy, way to spruce up the mac and cheese! Good idea 🙂

Costco cake is hands-down, one of the best cakes EVER! Kashi H2H is my favorite cereal by Kashi…sadly though, I don’t think my costco sells the big box of it.

Oh my gosh I love Costco! I used to LIVE on Heart 2 Heart when I was pregnant with my first daughter. We were living in Seoul at the time and it was one of the only American cereals we could get. I ate so much of it I haven’t even been able to look at a box of it 4 years later, but strangely today it looks really good!

I love anything Hodgson Mill too. That Mac and Cheese looks great

Costco cakes are amazing!! I got one of the HUGE ones for my birthday/graduation cake in June and we still had sooo much left over, so my mom and I put the cake in the car, drove downtown and handed out slices to homeless people. And one guy’s birthday was the next day, so it was a pretty cool experience! Spread the love — err cake! 😉

I have also never had a costco cake, at least not that I know of.

I love the Shiracha sauce aka rooster sauce, it is like a grown up version of texas pete which I never liked.

Yesterday, my aunt and I had dinner and she brought the most awesome chocolate drizzly homemade topping with a slice of strawberry “bread” (sort of like banana bread) and it was heavenly. So guilty eating it, but it was worth all of the guilt… The chocolate had an orange scent to it, I guess she put orange zest in it. Mmmmmm. Iced cakes turn me off with all the icing? Love the cake part, but not an icing fan:<

Oh mannnn…. costco cake is one of the best things in the world. I wish it were full of fiber, omega 3s, and low in calories.

    Grrrr.

I absolutely love your CostCo picture today because it features CREST! I work for P&G and always love seeing people give our products free shoutouts. Better yet, I love to see that such amazing people as yourself use our products! Maybe a fairy will send some your way. Any P&G requests?:)

I’ve never even been to Costco.

But speaking of Kashi, I just tried the new Honey Sunshine cereal today and it is delicious! You open the bag and the honey smell just wafts out.

Question about H2H: I LOVE that cereal, but after eating it every morning for about 2 weeks, I get extremely “regular” (like, down to the minute). A few days later, I get toxic gas. And, soon after, I abandon it (because I can’t be in the same room with other people anymore). Have you experienced anything similar? Any advice?

I’ve been eating breakfast oats 5-7 days/week for the past 7 months now, but I’d love to reintroduce H2H for some variety and amazing sweetness.

    melissa sue,
I haven’t had the same symptoms but it could just be the increase in insoluble fiber. (Oatmeal is more soluble). What sized portion are you eating?

i was probably eating the portion size known as “too much.” i had never even considered that eating at least 1.5-2 times the suggested serving would have that kind of effect, but duh. i am going to pick up a box when i go to the store and see what happens.
