And The Winners Are….

Thank you to everyone for such a fun and entertaining contest!! I got so excited each time a new email appeared in my inbox! You guys are all so creative and funny. I loved the wide variety of entry styles as well. Check out the slideshow video of the 40+ entries I received at the end of the post!

WINNERS: Email me your mailing addresses so I can pass them on to Honest Foods!

And everyone, be on the lookout for another contest coming up soon 🙂

Honest Foods Oatmeal Contest

(The Husband here!)

Man these were hard to judge!  From delicious oats I’d love to eat, to crazy pet-food oatmeal, to cute pictures – it was funny how many times I’d be sitting in another room and hear cackling laughter across the house because of a new hilarious submission.  So without further hesitation, here are the winners in no particular order:

Trina’s Dog-gone Delicious Oats

Trevor Trina Ashour

It’s the “for sale” and “$1.00” that makes this picture!  Not to mention I have a soft spot for Jack Russels.  He doesn’t look like a great salesman though…

Rose H.’s Cantaloupe Bowl

Rose H

Cool idea and a beautiful picture. Can’t beat that!

Maggie’s Catfood Oatmeal (featuring Couscous the cat)

Maggie (3) Maggie (2)

As a treat, Couscous gets a smaller serving of oats plus 4 Savory Salmon Feline Greenies with a sprinkle of dried seaweed.  I’m basically imagining sushi oatmeal… nice job!

Justy’s Banana Split Oatmeal

Justy Banana Split

There were a couple banana split submissions, but this one took the cake because it’s the most decadent thing ever.  I’d say I want this for my birthday breakfast but I don’t think I’d be able to eat for the rest of the day!  Bananas, oatmeal, and three different topping scoops: peanut butter, strawberry jam, and honey.  Top everything with a sprinkle of Granola Planks and a cherry, and serve while laying on the couch in a puddle of drool.

Jessie, exhibiting Model Behavior

Jessie S

How can I resist a naked pic!?!?!  Nuff said.

Actually, I want to know who took the picture.  Then it’s nuff said.

Cati’s Savory Prosciutto Oatmeal

Cati

I’m always a fan of stretching oatmeal beyond its sweet associations, and this was an excellent idea: oats, goat cheese, figs, and prosciutto topped with pine nuts and a balsamic reduction.  Tres chic!

Monica’s “Bowl” of Oatmeal

Monica O

I like this one in keeping with the theme of this blog.  Instead of eating one of those horrible workout goo-packets when she runs, Monica makes a baggie of oatmeal (“real food”) and just squeezes it out as she needs it!

Sami’s Sunny-Side Up

Sami

We liked this one so much we made it a few days ago.  Again with the savory oats – top your regular oatmeal with a runny egg, chopped basil, some grated cheese and a dash of hot sauce.  It was pretty incredible, like oats-benedict. Sunny, the puppy, is pretty cute too!

Gina’s Oatmeal Facial

Gina (2)

We had several oatmeal facial submissions and they all were pretty funny, but the dogs eating Gina’s face added that extra cute factor (or perhaps extra horrific factor? Either way she gets points for cuteness/terror).

Karri’s Peachy-Beachy Shark Attack!

Karri L (2) Karri L

You gotta hand it to this mom for making breakfast super exciting and creative for her kids.  This oatmeal recreates a day at the beach, with sunken peach treasure buried under the waves, fruity Cheerios representing colorful shells and/or life preservers, a brown-sugar beach with nut-people of all different sizes shapes and colors laying out, and little fruit snack fishies swimmin around.  Make sure to eat it like a shark, as pictured!

YAY! I am so excited that my dog won me some free food 😉 Thanks BethT–trust me it look a lot of retakes to get that dog to sit still!! Also, did you notice the two small cheerio-looking things in front of him?? That would be his dog treats that he got to eat if he would “sit still”!!! LOL.

That was a fun contest! Everyone was really creative and it was fun to see how everyone thinks differently!

Thanks Kath and Matt!! Oh, and I agree–he doesn’t look like a very good salesman…however his cute puppy eyes and fuzzy beard might have won people over…

I have a question about the calories in peanut butter. I was comparing several natural peanut butters in Whole Foods. They all listed Peanuts and Salt as the only ingredients. They all said a serving size was 32 grams. But the calories ranged from 180 per serving to 200 calories per serving. How could that be?

One more thing. . .who has the watermellon bowl!? We have the same set. =] It’s really old and I have no idea where my mom bought it. But I love eating out of that bowl. And the strawberry postachio oats, the cappichino oats, the first picture looks good [peaches? yum!] The one of the two with a kiss in bed. And the last, “parfait.” . . .I have too many favorites, lol.

LOVE the idea of savory oats, why not? It’s like mushy rice 😀

And Justy- please tell us the truth- that Nana split has at least 1000 calories, doesn’t it!! 😀

    Jo,
    A real porridge competition!?! Wow!

    Allison,
My guess would just be variations in the salt+peanut percentages and/or the method in which the peanuts were blended. More air = lighter peanut butter = less calories per tbsp.

Thanks for the compliments on the banana split, guys 🙂 I hope it didn’t have 1000 calories though considering that was my Saturday morning breakfast! 😀 It was tasty though…and fun to eat! I used 1/2 cup oatmeal, so no more than usual…just had to cook it a little longer so it wouldn’t be so runny. It’s the usual types of toppings you’d use on oatmeal, just a little of each on the little “scoops” so I doubt it’s much more caloric than a usual bowl of oatmeal…just more time consuming to make and more fun to eat 🙂
Thanks again Kath & husband (Matt)!
