I was up at 5:30 this morning to meet Emily for yoga at Y2Yoga. We wanted to get in our weekly session but she’s gone on Sunday, so we moved to today – even though that meant early, early!!
Before I left I had a peach Fruition bar (made by Probar). I really love these bars. They are the perfect portion size and calorie density for a light snack and they have chia seeds embedded in them that make them really crunchy. And the flavors are spot on for my palate – not too fruity-tart and not too dry.
Driving to yoga early this morning was not the same as driving to the gym. I was in a much better mood!! Probably because I was really excited for the class. I just love hot yoga!!! Here’s the studio entrance before sunrise…
Class was…awesome. Obviously! We did a 60 minute vinyasa class and I felt like I really have improved on some of the poses. I walked in feeling stiff from yesterday’s Sculpt class and left feeling like I’d had a massage.
Emily is a big runner and we haven’t run together yet, so we ended our date with a 3.5 mile loop around the neighborhood. It was GORGEOUS out – misty, 60* with falling leaves. What a wonderful way to start the day!
On my ride home I was listening to the oldies station and What A Day For A Daydream came on. I felt the song was very appropriate for my day and whistled along
Check out this You Tube video of the Lovin’ Spoonful in action. Can’t you just see how he would have been soooo dreamy back in the day!?
Once home and showered I made the coffee video and a yogurt bowl to go with it. My yogurt bowl featured a new cereal by Bear Naked they sent me to try.
The facts (click to enlarge)
Its so gorgeous out I took breakfast outside for a modeling shoot (although I carried it back in to dine)
- ~3/4 a cup of Oikos
- ~1/3 cup pumpkin
- Cinnamon
- TJs Pumpkin Butter
- Drizzle maple
- ~1/2 cup Bear Naked
- Smidge of Maranatha on the spoon
I actually wasn’t that crazy about the Bear Naked cereal. I think it’s just my palate though. The flavor was Cranberry Raisin, which I usually like, but there was something in it that I didn’t love. I did love the little clusters and seeds. You know – it might have been the pumpkin seeds that I didn’t love. Sometimes they are too savory for me. I bet the Banana Nut flavor is awesome. I also think the cereal is quite calorie dense at 200 calories for 2/3 a cup. I’m guessing that’s the seeds in there, but I will probably use it more as a topping than a bowl-filler.
TWO RAVES
OMG – SCRUBBING BUBBLES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those of you who recommended these, I picked some up recently and am EVER so impressed!!! Our shower floor was so coated with grime we were considering having it refinished before we put our house on the market. Our realtor even suggested a whole next shower stall! Well the scrubbing bubbles made that shower SPARKLE
Windows Live Movie Maker – best movie maker I’ve ever used!!! Not sure if it’s only a Windows 7 version or for anyone to download, but highly recommended! SO user friendly with all the effects and stuff.

Not sure what’s on the agenda next. I have to get my car inspected
Might do another NERD KERF video! And Matt and I have a really fun date planned this evening!

shoop girl…i would love me some open sky moolah! that bamboo compost bucket has been calling my name ever since i saw it on your store!!!
have a wonderful day!
Sweet looking yogurt bowl!
I’d buy a set of those California bowls. So cute!
Jenn
Oh man, so many awesome things. I need a new Polar but LOVE the Spice Rack and Chia Seeds. Have a great weekend KATH!
b
I want some open sky goodies!! I really want a french press!
what an awesome giveaway! i could use the gift certificate to buy some christmas presents!
You are the cutest blogger of all time. We talked about you at our meet up last night–wish you could have come! I used to always use a French press to make coffee in London last year. I need to get one for myself!! Perhaps I would buy one on open sky….or those cute inward lip bowls of yours!
oooh! i’d kill for some nuttzo.
I’m with you on the Bear Naked cereal, thought I do like the Banana Nut. It’s high calorie an I find the Bran Flakes are SUPER hard. They hurt my teeth. I got a small sample packet in the mail and ended up divided it into like 4 servings on my yogurt.
I would love to win an Open Sky gift certificate! You’re awesome!
I’d love the Chia seeds!!! Never had them before!!
I’d love the mandoline slicer! That or I would stock up on chia and flax seeds
Hi Kath I love your blog so much —- it inspired me to start my own blog. In that case ,if I won the gift certificate ,I would use it to purchase a new camera to take beautiful pics of my recipes. Thanks and have a great day!
I would totally buy some chia seeds ….and peanut butter
yum yum yummers.
I’m not sure I’d buy it (my husband would NEVER stop teasing me if I did!!) but your pet “oatmeal” KERF bowl is pretty cute. I smile every time I see it pop up on the blog!
I would love to get the stackable bowls
Where to begin?
Chia seeds,
Nuttzo,
Crockpot,
and
Kettle!
i would so buy a polar watch…i’ve been wanting one SOO badly!
Gosh, so many cool things – maybe splurge and use it as an excuse to get a Garmin?
I’d love to get some Nuttzo or a French Press Coffee Machine!! It’s on my Christmas List too:)
I really want a crock pot for warm dinner on these freezing cold nights!!
an assortment of nut butters is probably what i would spend it on because in Canada we are seriously lacking in the obcure nut butters!
I’d probably buy a Garmin or new coffee pot.
Thanks for the tutorial! I love it–and now I reeeeeeeeally want a French press! (As if I didn’t before…)
And I have the same thoughts on BearNaked…. I feel like it has straight granola stats for a cereal-granola mix
I want to buy a FrenchPress, it looks like so much fun to make!
Great video, thanks for sharing!
I would buy those adorable nesting bowls you showed the other day!
Hot Yoga is amazing! Today was the first day that I went to the 6am class and it has put so much extra pep in my step for the day. I will make it an early morning habit!
Keep up the videos, even if you think they’re “nerdy.” I’ll have to show hubby this one to prove that we should have had a french press on our wedding registry. I begged, but he declined for “something more useful.” Boys..
Ahh, the Cali bowls and/or some Nuttzo! Great tutorial
I haven’t tried french press coffee yet… if there’s one on the Open Sky store and I win a GC then maybe I’ll be doubly apt to try it then!!
HAPPY FRIDAY
I’d looove a mandoline!! I like those cali bowls too!!
I’ve been eyeing those Calibowls ever since you first showed them! And also the Nuttzo. Yum!
Pick me! I want Nutzo butter! I just sadly can’t justify spending 20 dollars on nut butter….. Oh and a masher for my banana oats!
Great giveaway – I would totally be loving the compost bin (got it on my Christmas wish list and I *NEED* a pot holder!
I’d buy the nuttzo for sure! Been dying to see it since it popped up on blogs but it’s so pricy!
Yoga class is my favorite way to start the day!
Since I started reading your blog I have actually started to eat breakfast!!! All these butters and toppings and yogurts…yumm! I would love to buy the Precision scale and the heart rate monitor. Such fabulous things!
Awesome giveaway!!! I’d opt for the new Cali Bowls, plus some Chia Seeds and Flax Seeds for good measure
HEY KATH!
I am a barista here in NYC at a place called Jittery Joe’s where we do only/all FRENCH PRESS COFFEE everyday! It’s what we like to think makes us special in this city of unique coffee cafes. That being said, I watched your video about how you make your french press coffee and I thought I would throw out a few tips that would improve your daily cup o’ joe.
1. Store your coffee in an opaque air tight container. Both light and moisture help to ‘stale’ coffee faster…no good! I am glad to hear you don’t store our coffee in the freezer now, that always kills me, lol!
2. To be exact, the water you use for french press coffee should be around 204 degrees for the perfect brew. But that doesn’t concern me as much as the way you pour the water! When pouring the water from your electric tea kettle into the french press, go in a circular motion around the edges of the press while vigorously moving the press in a circular motion. This helps to EVENLY extract the grounds for optimum flavor…very good!
3. Also, you want to stir the bloomed coffee (yay for correct terminology!) one minute after pouring the hot water, so wait 30 more seconds and you will be good to go!!
4. And lastly, after you stir the coffee one minute in, put the french press lid on the press (obviously don’t press down yet) because at this point all of the gasses have escaped and leaving the top off lets too much heat escape and again, interferes with extracting the coffee’s full flavor.
5. Oh, and yay for slow pressing!
Alright, well I hope you try those tips tomorrow morning, and perhaps you will love your cup of coffee EVEN MORE in the AM (if that is even possible, haha).
xoxo, Simone
Thanks for the tips Simone! I am passing them on to my cousin who only drinks french press coffee!!!
I need a mandolin!! Great giveaway!
I would totally buy the CaliBowls, A. Because my name is Cali, and B. Because they are super cute and functional. I love how the edges help keep all the goodness on your spoon!
P.s. Your breakfast looks gorgeous. Great light!
Hi Kath! I love my new french press too! So much more fun than just drip coffee. One tip that I found that I really is preheating the french press pot. I fill it with hot water from the tap and let it sit while the water boils. That way the temperature doesn’t drop when you add the boiling water to the cold glass pot and let it sit for 4 minutes. Just wanted to pass it along!
ooh, I’d love the bamboo compost pail!
I would love to get those Cali bowls that you have. So cute!
i really wanna get those cali bowls – they’re cuuute
Kath, fun giveaway! Oh where to start… polar, nuttzo, stick blender (I’m in total soup mode right now!) or the scale… need… ok, want, them all! I have shopping to do!
LOVE your blog btw, so inspiring!
Susan
yay for friday giveaways! since i’m a sucker for kitchen gadgets, i would have to go with the mandolin… but there is so much good stuff to choose from! have you tried the bear naked fit granolas yet? they are pretty tasty too, and not as calorie dense. TGIF! have a fun weekend
I’m wondering why you’re not supposed to store your coffee in the freezer–can anyone enlighten me?
If there’s any left over in my grinder, I store that in an opaque plastic container, but the whole beans or any unopened coffee bags always go in the freezer at my house. Where’s the best place for them?
Because like baking soda, coffee absorbs odors and so when you freeze the coffee or store it in the fridge, etc., coffee absorbs the odors from the fridge/freezer making for a not so tasty cup o’ joe. You should store ALL of your coffee whole bean in an opaque, air tight container and only grind RIGHT BEFORE you go to make your coffee. This is because ground coffee goes stale in appx. 1 minute so unless it is hit by the water right away, you aren’t going to get maximum coffee flavor from that particular extraction. I know it’s time consuming, but in the end, you will find that using freshly ground coffee EACH time will actually SAVE you money because your coffee will taste STRONGER and BETTER meaning less beans per cup. Hope that helps!!
Thanks! I definitely grind the amount I need most of the time, but sometimes I overfill the grinder and have a little extra. I haven’t noticed anything “off” about my coffee beans from the freezer, but now I am enlightened!
Sounds like an awesome morning! Since you love Hot Yoga you should give Bikram a shot too. I think you would fall in love with it!
Definitely definitely nutzo!!
Definitely the Garmin–something I’d love to have but would never buy for myself!
I woudl love that scale, could definitely help me in portion control–great for New Year’s Resolution. Thanks for introducing me to Open Sky! Love the KERF store!
I love your trick with the hot water heater!
Hmmm – I’d love a scale, the compost pail, and/or the mandolin! I’ve asked for a Bodum French Press for Christmas
Loved the tutorial! Can’t wait to try it out (can I hold out til Christmas?!)!
I would definitely get the bamboo compost bin! Thanks for the video!
I’d get some new bowls.
Lots of things I’d love (I’m a bit obsessed with kitchen gadgets…) but right now I’d like your food scale and also a new garlic press – mine seems to turn my garlic green?!?
Awesome!
and a fun kitchen doodad, like those cute bowls.
I’d finally buy some chia seeds
Sweet. I think I would buy the french press, nuttzo, and chia seeds.
What a great giveaway! My hand blender just died so I need to replace it.
I love the Bodum double walled glasses, and I would have to try some Nuttzo!
I have been eyeing those cali bowls ever since you posted them! I wish I could go for the nice camera though, but that is definitely going to be a while.
I really want to try Nuttzo – one, for the name, two, it sounds delicious!
I’d spend it on the nuttzo!
I’d buy the Polar F6 Heart Rate Monitor!
Love Nuttzo nut butter. Would definitely buy more jars as I’m almost out!
OHMYGOODNESS! Pick ME! Because how much do I want the DESU Design – 1-Line Spice Rack from Jay Johnson and Irwin Weiner’s store? SO MUCH.
Wow! What great items they have!
Love your place mats!!
Nutzo would probably be my first choice
but I think i saw a milk frother that I’d love too! great giveway. and thanks for the french press video!
I love that electric kettle – sleek, stylish, and so practical!
I’d buy Thermo Press Tumbler with Grip! Awesome products!
I would get the Cali bowls. They look so sleek.
I have been wanting a mandoline and would love to get the OXO one listed on the site!
I’d love to try everything from Open Sky! Especially Nuttzo, though. Yum Yum!
Honestly I would love to try it all!!! … Nuttzo sounds fantastic and the bowls!
I am also a huge fan of the french press, and I’m jealous of your cute green one! I read somewhere that it’s not good to stir the coffee with a metal spoon since it could damage the delicate glass of the beaker. I usually use a wooden chopstick to stir mine and it works great.
I am eyeing that pizza stone in your OpenSky store. I love making my own pizza, but have trouble getting a nice crispy crust. Having a pizza stone would definitely help!
Awesome, I’d love those new dripless bowls you showed in red a few weeks back.
i would LOVE to try nutzo!
I’d love to have those bowls – super cute!
chia seeds!
I love Scrubbing Bubbles. I felt like I’d been cheated my entire adult life when I tried it the first time and realized how awesome it is. No more scrubbing the tub for me!
Would love to win some extra gift certificates!!!!
Yay for gift certificates!
I would use the gift certifcate to buy either the cool gadgets or the Bodum Press. I have been eyeing the press at Target and decided to wait and I purchased Bodum’s travel and go press. The larger press would be great when I have company, as well as I love the color green.
LURVE those bowls!!! i’ve been coveting them ever since you first featured them on here. i hope i win!
I absolutely have to have the Bamboo Compost Pail! How cool is that!? Love your blog
Oh gosh! If I had $25 to spend I’d get a french press. I love my coffee. Carbiou is calling my name as we speak.
Oh I like their Chia seeds and kettles;-)
After that video, I am thinking I would want to buy a french press! Also want to try Nutzo! We don’t have any fun nut butters where I grocery shop.
Oh my goodness, my shower is disgusting! I’m going to have to get some scrubbing bubbles
I’ve been wanting those Cali bowls since they first made an appearance here!
I’d definitely get a Garmin. I’ve been wanting one for a while now, but haven’t splurged on it just yet. I’m hoping to get one for Christmas though!
Love how yoga makes me feel afterward, too! Relaxed and energized!
I would love to buy some chia seeds – haven’t tried them before!
I really need to get myself a french press! If I win the gift certificate I would pick up the french press coffee maker. It looks insanely delicious and all it needs is a little extra love to make!
I would love to try some of the Nuttzo, as well as the French Press!
I would get a garmin. I want one so bad but just don’t have the cash at the moment. This would definately help!
I’d love the Chop,Chop Bamboo board! I have two cutting boards right now. One is from the dollar section of Target, and our knives have cut through it, which kind of defeats its purpose. The other works fine, but is about 5″ x 4″ so is way too small for most prep work!
Wow, I’d love to win one of those. There are a lot of things I like on there… the spice rack would be really sweet. We have been putting ours in a cabinet above the stove, but I’m starting to see that it just really doesn’t work. My wife can’t reach them, and we can barely see anything except for the front row or two (even with a fancy shelf organizer).
I also really like that mandolin… I just put one of those on my Christmas list actually.
Hmmm the French Press seems to be calling my name!
Jas and I use scrubbing bubbles in our bathroom too..LOVE the stuff!!!!!! It makes everything feel so fresh, shiny and clean
Sigh… I would love the Garmin or a Polar HRM…
I would love to purchase a Garmin!
That contest is AMAZING, I’d love to check out what I could buy but I need to make lunch and go to class!
I’ve been asking for a mandoline for years as a gift and haven’t received so I would get that!
I would try some Nutzo!! Maybe pick myself up a hand blender too, so I can make smoothies in a bowl like you
I’d like to buy the multipack of cali bowls!!
I love french press coffee, as well! It just can’t be beat! And your bowl are too cute!
Can I say two things that I want? The jar of Nuttzo and the Calibowls. I am obsessed with bowls and would love to add them to my collection
I would LOVE to win…haven’t shopped for myself in such a long time. I would like to get a GARMIN!
How cool! I would love to buy those bowls with the lip for oatmeal!
The Bear Naked banana nut is so good! I mix a small portion of it with Kashi go lean. Delish!
AHHH You just reminded me I need to get my car inspected!! I need to write this down…lol thanks for that!!
I would love to win because I’m dying to try nutzo after your rave reviews. Or I’d buy the cute cali bowls
I would love to order some Nutzo and Chia seeds! I’m sure I can find plenty of other things to spend the mula on!
I’d love to buy some cooking supplies, because I have none!
Thanks for the chance at the giveaway Kath! I’d love the EatSmart Precision Pro scale or the Pizza stone!! I love making pizza and it always comes out better on the stone.
Have a lovely weekend all!
I STILL have yet to try chia seeds – so I would love those, and some of the other delicious-looking edible you have there!
I would love to get a french press like yours! We are not frequent coffee drinkers, so have never had the need to get a coffee maker, but think having a french press for the occasional cup would be great!
Also, I have found that the combo of scrubbing bubbles while using a magic eraser sponge works to get grime off my tub soooo easily!
Love that yogurt bowl too
That bamboo board is awesome!!!
Maggie
MYBREAKFASTBLOG.COM
I would buy that electric tea kettle! How nifty!
I would buy Nutzo and California bowls!
You’re so good about getting up and getting your workouts in bright & early!
I’d order the Nuttzo from Open Sky – I love nut butters!
I am in desperate need of a new french press!
I’d definitely order some jars of Nutzzo
My husband is yearning for a french press, so I’d definitely get him one of those. Me, well, I’m hankering for a nice ol’ food processor
Really love your blog, keep staying true to yourself!
I would LOVE a french press! I drink coffee almost everyday, so it’s a “necessity”, right?
There are so many things but I think I’d really like a crock pot. I’m craving soups and stews and chilis as the weather gets colder.
Decisions, decisions! But, I love the red bowls! I would definitely be getting those… or even the compost pail to GO GREEN!
I have been wanting a French Press for quite some time now… I love coffee full of flavor and body! Thanks for the video! And now I am off to add those items to my Holiday list
I have looked everywhere for chia seeds and haven’t been able to find them, so I would get those among other yummy delights
Oooh I would LOVE a set of Calibowls! Would probably spend another hour trying to decide what color to get though.
I love the rainbow whisk in your store – too cute!
Yay for french press! I just bought a mini one and I love it! I finally make good tasting coffee – LOL!
Thanks for the giveaway offer! I’m all about kitchen gadgets!
I would get a t-shirt!
I would love those bowls you talked about a couple weeks ago, with the sides that make the soup drip back in!
great giveaway! I would get some nutzzo! yum!
I am dying for Garmin. But, on a smaller scale, I have been hoping to try Nutzo. It looks great in your pics.
Kath! I’m PUMPED!!!
I want the little bowls!! YAY for little bowls!!!
Thanks for having this giveaway Kath!
I LOVED the banana nut flavor. Very very good. But yes, quite calorie dense.
As for the giveaway, I’d have to look around the store a bit more, but love those cali bowls!
I love the bowls, too! Thanks for the giveaway!!!
ah, a kitchen isn’t really a kitchen without those two items! So, obviously I would go for the thermo-press!
Hot yoga sounds like so much fun! I’d also love to have a crock pot!
Hey!
I have to ditto the above poster you recommended leaving your lid on while it’s sitting. It stays so much hotter that way. I also wrap mine in a dish towel to keep it warm
I’d lurve to win
I think I’d give the OXO mandoline slicer a try — I currently have an inexpensive one from C&B that has sliced my finger one too many times…
I have been telling my hubby we need an electric kettle now that it’s getting chilly, so that would be lovely!
I’ve had a food scale on my wish list for a while now, so I would definitely get that. However, you make Nuttzo sound so heavenly, that I might just have to try that too!
Happy Friday!
I would also go for the kettle.
th e bear naked banana nut cereal is quite tastey. i’d recommend you try that one
I would totally buy the nutzo!
French press!
Just wanted to say thanks so much for your video post. My roommate has a French press and I’ve always been intimidated by it, but I finally used it this morning after watching the video – and it’s AWESOME. Tastes so good! I’d love one of my own
I would LOVE to have the French press that you showed in your video! I haven’t started on the morning coffee habit yet, but my husband tries to entice me on a regular basis! I don’t think he’s ever had coffee from a French press, so this would be a great gift for him…and maybe for us, if I decide to cave!
Oh wow, I would have to do some serious thinking on what I would buy at Opensky, but I have to say, that mandoline looks pretty cool! I have been wanting one of those!
I’d definitely get the french press!
Oh What wouldn’t I buy! I need a new digital camera, love the bowl set, want the garmin watch, need a food scale…the list goes on!
I’d love an electric kettle like yours!! I’d be able to make French press (my favorite!) at work, and wouldn’t have to settle for the coffee everyone else is drinking!!
What a great giveaway!
What I would really love is the Canon Rebel, but if I was lucky enough to win the gift cards I think I would be extremely happy with the hand mixer. I seriously need one of those!!
The california bowls look soooo nice
Great pictures! It looks like such a lovely day out!
Just in time for the holidays! I’d definitely want a jar (or three) of Nutzo…
yay NERD KERF!!!
i must investigate those bubbles. my shower floor gets pretty grimey too.
nut butters! and maybe one of those sweet bowls.
Would love to win and pick some goodies!
I really need a Garmin!
i would LOVE to win the nutzo!
jenna
Hi there.. I thibnk Nutzo and crock pot but if they do sell it, what I really need is a nice juicer..
Oooh I LOVE scrubbling bubbles – they’re perfect for quick cleaning
I’d love to win! I would definitely invest in some new nut butters and tableware – or possibly Christmas presents for the fam!!!
Meg
i want the cali bowls! and the nutzo! i’m fairly certain i could spend WAY too much money there. crock pot and food scale and and whisk and cookware!
Cool giveaway! I would have a hard time choosing between the Cali bowls and the bamboo cutting board… I am putting both on my Christmas list!!!
Oh! Pick me! I have been dreaming of french press forever! I am so sick of filters. Plus, I really love the compost container you have. It is so nice and would look wonderful on my counter:)
yay for French Press!
We really want something for scraps, so I would totally get the compost pail (so cute!) and the oven mitt or silicon whisk, as I need both.
What a great give away! I would love to try the NUTZO! Looks so good!
This is an awesome giveaway. I would definitely use it to go towards buying a garmin. I have been wanting one for ages and using the stopwatch on my ipod just isn’t cutting it.
I would totally get a Garmin; I have been wanting one! Love your blog!
Great offer! I’ve been dying to try the Nutzo too. And can’t live without my french press – great video. Thanks Kath!
oohh – i’d love some $$$ toward nuttzo, mandolin, gosh – there’s lots i could do with it! fingers crossed:-)
Looooove the video!! I’m a loyal French press user, so much so that I always give them away as gifts. And people always whine that it’s too complicated! I don’t get it though, it seems like a much simpler process to me. Plus, cleaning coffee makers is a paaaain, and they take up a lot more counter space.
Not a huge fan of pumpkin seeds in some things either… They kinda have a metallic taste?
A french press and Nuttzo!
nice video post! ooo i would buy either the heart rate moniter, food scale, the nuttzo or maybe the french press.
I think I’d put it toward the Garmin. And maybe some Chia/flax seeds LOLI
I’d love some Nuttzo & the stacking bowls are just my style!
I have been reading your blog for a few months now and love it! I would get the Nuttzo for sure!
thanks for the giveaway! i would def go for the bowls…always in need of a cute bowl set
after that video i would definitely get a french press and maybe some of those bowls that keep everything inside!
I really need a blender of some sorts! I want to make your smoothie in a bowl!
Totally agree re Bear Naked – why so calorie dense??!!!
i’m desperate for kitchen supplies!
Oooooh … gift certificate! I’m a sucker for any kind of kitchen utensil/applicance/fun doo-dad … if your randomizer shows me some love then, for sure, I’d get the Oxo Good Grips Mandoline Slicer!
Dear Santa…I mean Kath…I would LOVE to buy Nutzo + the Cali Bowls!! =) I just got a free sample of the Banana Nut Bear Naked and it was really yummy!!
awesome offer! I hope I win!
I love french press coffee too! so much more body(obv it depends on the type of coffee you use !!)
My uncle acutally owns a coffee company in Costa Rica called “cafe britt” let me know if you are interested in trying some, I would be happy to send you a bag or two
Definitely the magnetic spice rack. Great giveaway!
Simone,
Thanks so much for the tips! And I’m glad i got so many things right
Emmalinda,
I think it has to do with droplets of water and ice…I’m not sure! You’re supposed to store it in a cool, dark place.
Jessie,
Chopstick is a great idea!
Naomi,
I’m always up for good coffee!
Kath
No Problem!!
I love your video!
I would love that french press! It’s also my favorite color and I’ve been wanting one for a while. I do have one question… do the coffee beans have to be ground differently than if you use a paper filter in a coffee pot or does that not matter?
Amy,
They are supposed to be a little more coarsely ground, but I just use my coffee grinder as I would have for drip and it works fine. And I use ground coffee from stores. So I guess no!
Kath
I’ve got to try those chia seeds! I’d definitely get those if I won.
I’ve got to try those chia seeds! I’d definitely get those if I won. Well, those and some fun kitchen bowls!
I want to try nutzo soooooo bad! and id love the hand mixer too! =)
kath,
SO excited about this offer!
your opensky store is growing fabulously.
if i was the lucky winner,
i’d put the certificate towards the NUTZO -
nut butters rock my world,
and this one’s not available anywhere in canada,
so i hate missing out.
dying to taste it and add it to my nut butter gallery!!
thanks so much for the contest
nutz-o-nutz-o-nutz for NUTZO
Hey Kath! I’ve been inspired by your oatmeal creations (because oatmeal is fab). But, I have never tried wheatberries so I think that is definitely something I would like to try from opensky. What a fun contest!
Oohhh… so many choices!!! Can’t decide!!!
I thought the same thing about the Bear Naked granola, wayyy to calorie dense to keep around as an everyday staple. The Peanut Butter flavor is really good though…
Would definitely go for the nuttzo!!
We are french press fanatics at our house too! BUT I don’t have a sassy green one like yours. I want it!
Nutzo
Sounds yummy and it’s something I can’t find out here…
There are many things that look good to me… can’t decide.
Nuttzo and your kettle! I have a french press I haven’t used yet, but I think I’ll finally take it out of the box this weekend. Thanks for the inspiration!
Kath- love your website! I’m interested in those chia seeds!
I would love the immersion blender!
Hi Kath! I’d definitely get a french press – I have wanted one for so long but haven’t let myself splurge yet!
If you don’t want to deal with the fumes of the Scrubbing Bubbles I find the Magic Erasers also work really well in getting rid of the grime and dried on soap scum in the bathroom.
Ahh!! I love all of the things in your opensky account! I know $25 isn’t much for this item, but I have been wishing for a Garmin for a while now! I love my Polar F6, but I’d love something with GPS so I am free to roam the trails and streets, while still knowing my distance!
Ahhh so many awesome things in there!! I’d have to go with the chia seeds, the crock pot, and (in my dreams) a heart rate monitor!!
I really want a crock pot for warm dinner
Being a Cali girl I’d love to treat myself to some those calibowls!
Enjoy date night with Matt, you deserve to treat yourself after all your hard work!
I love my french press because I can make my coffee anyway I want – my daughter and husband say I make weak coffee!
Ive watched you drink french press coffee for so long, but I never really though about it, but theres something so homey about it, I think if I were to win, Id get the French Press!! I dont do well with caffeine, so I’d just have decaf, but gosh it would so great in the mornings!
I’d buy some Nutzo of course!
I would put the money towards getting a Garmin! That would be so helpful with my training!
I would either have to but the Nuttzo or the French press. Or both!
I would certainly get some chia seeds to see what all the buzz is about. I would probably get a HRM as well.
Thank you!
I could really use a new kitchen scale….or a french press.
i would love those bowls from last week. in yellow!
Nutzo for munching.
Bowls for oat eating.
HRM for exercising!
Yay!
There’s no way I could pick just one item…I actually sent my mom the link to your store as my christmas wish list
The Calibowl stack!
Wow, I loved this tutorial Kath! I would definitely love to buy a French Press myself!
Bodum – Thermo Press Tumbler with Gripx 2 – my hubbie and I are opera singers and always on the go – these would be the best ever – totally get used all day, every day!
I do like the romantic idea of French Press, but I am all for Percolators. Gotta have my ‘perk’.
Frech Press would be fun and completely new to me!!!
It would be a thrill to win! Thanks for the chance.
I’m eagerly awaiting the new installment of NERD KERF for the nerd in me.
I would love a larger french press. I use mine for tea and my mini one doesn’t work great for the amount of tea I drink.
Hey! I would definitely buy that mandoline slicer! They are so expensive, but would be so perfect for tons of things, especially some delicious sweet potato fries! = )
The French Press of course!!!!! =D
that was such an inspiring post! i now think that i NEED a french press!
Kath you never added the caffeinated coffee!
Open Sky was an awesome idea. I always wonder how to find the awesome products you blog about.
My top pick would be a Garmin. I really can’t spend that much $ right now, but a gift certificate sure would help.
Otherwise I’d go for the Cali bowls. I’m working on making my meals more mindful and enjoyable…they’d brighten them up
Kath- so happy to hear your voice (which is surprisingly northern sounding!) and see how you make your daily “KERF” (a nickname for coffee in our house!!).
I too like to add hot to hot and often nuke my FFmilk before making my morning cup of java. We currently have a Keurig, which is awesome for some instant coffee gratification, but I must admit, I have some seriously bad feelings about filling our landfill with all those little plastic cups.
So, were I to win one of the fabulously mentioned coupons, I think I’d invest in a Bodum (my mother-in-law has used one for years!) and try to be a tad more environmentally friendly in my coffee consumption.
Au revoir!
Kath ZS
I would definitely purchase the Bodum 8 cup press and the bamboo compost pail! I will have to try those scrubbing bubbles! I love cleaning products but I do not like the harsh smells they leave behind. However, if it works it works right? Love your site!
From the Kerf store, I’d get the EatSmart Precision Pro Scale – the scale I have is sooo inaccurate!
Chop chop bamboo!!! I wish
thanks for the french press video! i have been dying to use one.. starbucks has french press mugs! french press to go?? wonder if it’ll be the same!
thanks again– love, love, loooove your blog!
What a lovely morning. I love yoga too – Baptist is the style I like.
I want to make a comment about granola and granola-type cereals like Bear Naked. Good granola has all natural ingredients – as you said, nuts, seeds, and oatmeal. It is a delicious source of wholesome energy but you only need a handful, not a bowlful, because nuts are calorie-dense. Watch out for commerial granolas – they always contain lots of sugar and other bad stuff. NOT what you want. My husband likes Bear Naked Fit. It has less sugar and fewer calories than their regular varieties. That said, a serving size is still about 1/4 cup. Its best to use granola as a sweet crunchy topping for yogurt.
PS. I enjoy your blog. You are doing a great job!
I probably would get some Nuttzo.
I have tried the Bear Naked Banana Nut cereal. It is pretty tasty, but really not worth the calories to me. I could have so much more than a small amount of cereal.
Incredible giveaway! Thank you!
I’d dearly love the double wall glasses!! Great blog. I have been peeking in for awhile now and really enjoy your posts and learning more about you and healthy living.

It depends how nice I am feeling- I would love a garmin, but my husbad is in love with our small intstant read thermometer and would die if I bought the nice one on open sky!
hands down the french press…8 cup
i’m obsessed w/ coffee, and use my typical drip machine, but damn would i love to have one of these babies! would help assist my 4-cup/ day habit, eh?
So many fun things to choose from! I think I would go with one of the food products, since I am pregnant and I LOVE me some food right now!
Thank you for the fun hub of toys @ opensky!
Oooh I would try that Nuttzo for sure!
I think I would also try Nuttzo – I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen anything like it here!
I also love Scrubbing Bubbles! It actually works
Love the photoshoot! I wish I had that in my backyard to walk out to in the mornings. Gooooorgeous! That is why I want to move to Charlotte. Then again, I am sure your pics of Charlottesville will make me want to move there too. Decisions, decisions.
I agree about the pumpkin seeds, not that I have tried the cereal yet but savory pumpkin seeds in that cereal probably wouldn’t please my palate either! Let us know how the banana nut one is.
