Fun times in KERFland today 🙂
Some dancing… new Glee cast radio station on Pandora that is now turning into all musicals!!! We’ve been virtually singing on Twitter! Note that it has taken priority over my “Whatcha Say” radio from earlier this week!
And some eating!
I opened this can of Amy’s Split Pea that the company sent for me to try. I’ve got a handful of samples to review!
Y’all know I am a huge skeptic of canned soups, but I have to say, for a canned soup, with onions, this was excellent. Great thickness and good flavor – esp. with some hot sauce!
I had half the can..
To go with my soup….CHEESE + DOUGH!
I also received a sample of these Beemster Gourmet Dutch Cheeses
I chose the X-O [“Extra Old”] – aged for twenty-six months I might add!
I toasted a spelt Great Harvest bun and then broiled the cheese on top…total heaven. I ate every little nibble off of the wax rind. The notes say that the cheese has flavors of butterscotch, whiskey and pecan. I CONCUR! It was like a mix of parmesan and sharp cheddar and butter!
Matt and I are going on an adventure in a few hours – including dinner at an unusual place where we have a coupon!
See y’all for dinner. Happy Friday!

I am a big fan of Pandora – I get to know it when I was teaching a marketing class , a student questioned me in the class – don’t u know the extremely popular pandora ??!! haha, then I listen to it every day:-)
btw, I love that picture in the mirror 🙂 how cute 🙂
I had packaged soup today too! They’re really better than I thought.
you’re so funny Kath! You made me smile 😉
I have the Glee Cast station on my Pandora too! 🙂
By the way, I made your kale + garlic + apple cider vinegar + agave dish, and the hubby loved it!
The only bad thing is that kale reduces down (like spinach), and we didn’t have enough. 🙁
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
that cheese looks flippin’ sweet!!! 🙂 i loooove musicals & singing at the top of my lungs. my dog always looks at me like i’m a nut job.

That canned soup sounds great. Some time you just need something simple
Kath, you just made me so hungry. And I don’t want anything but a WW english muffin with that cheese on it. All your fault. In a good way of course. 🙂
i just checked out pandora, it is awesome!!
great lunch and i can’t wait to hear about your dinner adventure!!
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
I LOVE Glee on Pandora! It always puts me in a good mood (and I don’t even watch the show!)
that cheese bread is making me hungry for dinner already! yum. Grilled cheese is my favorite go-to meal when I’m in a rush. especially on homemade bread!
I just read on Meghann’s about the Glee station — can’t wait to head over and check that out! <3 Glee!
Hi, I’ve been following you for a short time but have never commented…
I agree, the Amy’s brand soups are surprisingly tasty…You should also try the Lentil variety if you haven’t already. It’s pretty darn good!
Those Dutch cheeses look divine! 🙂
Soup with onions in KERFland?!?!?!??!
I like your meal. Kath, what are your thoughts on food combining? Some nutritionists promote that to improve digestion food-combining rules should be followed (no fruit with anything but alone, starches and proteins should not mix, etc.) And what are your thoughts on all these protein shakes and powders? I see them on the blogs a lot , but have a strong belief in real food. Maybe you could share some thoughts in a post if you are ever able. Thanks Kath.
Sarah @ The Foodie Diaries says
love amy’s split pea. and OMG glee pandora!!!? i’m on it.
Kath, I love your blog. You are one of the first to inspire me to start my own. I would ask you to check it out but you are a busy, popular one in the blog-world, so that would be an honor 🙂
I just bought some Amys split Pea soup in the lower-sodium variety, I am interested in trial it.
I made a soup with a lot of onions (http://rhodeygirltests.com/2009/11/19/butternut-squash-soup/) and when I tasted I thought to myself that you would absolutely HATE it! It is SOOO good though (for an onion lover…..)
I love that your entire lunch was eaten from samples/products to review!!!! 🙂
(insert Friday dance HERE)

There is pretty much nothing better than good cheese on good bread. I could live on that…
Your house is so clean! I’m super jealous.
that cheese sounds awesome. I love split pea soup – it’s the best.
Since it’s the cool thing to be doing today I’ve been listening to the Glee Pandora station… PERFECT for singing and mopping my kitchen floor! TGIF!
Jessica @ JJsVinBlanc says
Thanks for informing us of the Glee Cast station!! Listening now 😀
Have a great Friday date night!
Jenn (www. j3nn.net ) says
OMG, cheese on bread = HEAVEN! The soup looks great, too. I love Amy’s light in sodium products, they rock my socks.
I love Pandora! I made my own RENT station because I saw the musical a couple of weeks ago and can’t get it out of my head, and lots of other musicals and the Glee cast show up on there, love it! 🙂
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
Nothing better than Amy’s soup!!! Seriously, that is the only kind I buy anymore! LOVE IT!
Have a great evening with Matt tonight.
Oh yay, they call that cheese “extra-old.” That’s what we call “sharp” or “mature” cheese in Canada. I guess it doesn’t sound as appetizing, but that’s what it is – old!! 😛 (and delicious, I might add)
Kath, what do you clean your hardwoods with?
How do you age cheese? I’ve always wondered. I hate to clean and desperately need to do it. I say burn it and start over 😉
Have fun with Matt can’t wait to hear where you guys end up!
I normally hate canned soups, but I love all the Amy’s ones!!!
Mama Pea says
There is a Glee cast station!?! OMG, you just made my day!
1. Kath eating anything with onions? Gasp! (I love onions, but i bet it’s pretty tough to find prepared foods without it!)
2. Lucky ducks, free cheese?
Laura @ Backstage Pass to Health & Happiness says
Norah Jones radio, too? Awesome! Her new album is SOOOO good (came out this Tues.).
That cheese looks amazing!
Lauren @ eater not a runner says
That looks like a yummy lunch 🙂 I might have to check out that pandora station, looks like fun!
ahhh soup is always such a comforting “beverage/meal”! I’ve been having it for lunch all week, but i gotta jump on your toasted muffin bandwagon. It looks fabulous!! Is your mug from crate and barrel??? I swear i have the same thing in orange!!
P.s. I’m having a big bad giveaway that involves a machine that can make you ALL the La Croix’s you can ever drink in your lifetime!! (I know cuz i’m a big fan of your blog AND the drink itself) hehehe Stop by if you’re interested! Have a fabulous weekend Kath!
Super Healthy Kids says
I love GLEE!!! I am so glad you told me about that station!
Man you guys always hit up the coolest places to eat!
Well I might be that lucky soon enough. My SO’s company offered him a position in Rock Hill, SC. We could be moving cross country in the next couple of months if the pay is right!
Deb (Smoothie Girl Eats Too) says
I love the way the cheese melted. Have you ever tried aged Gouda? don’t waste your time on anything less than 2 yrs. 5 is better. it’ll change your life.
I think food combining is one tiny bit of research stretched waaaaaay out of proportion. So maybe fruit digests it’s absolute best on an empty stomach, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t digest WELL with a bunch of other foods! Our digestive system is stronger than we think and we have enzymes and organs to help digest everything at once. I admit I haven’t read up on the subject, but from what I have learned about the GI tract in my classes, there’s no reason to avoid combining foods.
I’m also not a fan of protein powders of any form. That said, I don’t think there’s anything wrong or bad with them, but I wouldn’t choose to spend my money on them (with the except of maybe Amazing Grass because I think the benefit there goes beyond the protein – into the greens themselves – and I have acquired a preference for the taste! But if I want protein in my shake I will add milk, soy milk or yogurt.
Normally Mrs. Meyers in a spray bottle, but I got a sample of the Method wood included in my new mop and I like it a lot. It adds a bit of polish. But I sure use it up fast!
Ohhhhh yeaaaaaahh 😉
Gelareh @ Orange Truffle says
I had to make a quick comment about food combining. I would agree that food combining may not be necessary for an individual with a robust digestive track, but those with weaker digestive system would benefit from a proper food combination. I am a walking example of it, following food combining guildlines has saved my life and saved me from having to remove 3/4 of my colon.
Just adding in my 2 cents
Good point – it may be appropriate for those who have clinical reasons. I’m glad you have had a good experience!
