I’ve been craving a Smoothie In A Bowl for about 2 weeks now! FINALLY had all the ingredients I needed!
Including this new Vega Smoothie mix from the Summit Swag bag…..it’s incredible.
The Vita-Mix
- 1 cup ice
- 1 banana
- 1 cup milk
- 1 big scoop Vega Cho-a-Lot
- 1 giant handful spinach
Plus…..Pumpkin Chocolate Chip muffin from Great Harvest Warrenton!
I crumbled about 1/3 of it on top
And a sprinkle of cereal on top
Cold-brewed coffee
After breakfast we all dressed and drove the Farmer’s Market (sadly no biking this week due to the extra company and flat tire on my bike
)
The market was wonderful as always and we spent $35 on the best produce money can buy (plus two pasture-raised chicken legs from Davis Creek Farm, our new favorite meat vendor and the friendliest folks at the market!)
Love listening to banjo man every week!
After blogging we’re heading out on a [HOT] run and have plans for a tasty lunch followed by a music + beer festival!

That dough turtle is the cutest thing ever!
First comment O_________O
Your pictures of the farmer’s market are awesome. They’re going to motivate me to get dressed and go downtown for mine!
Oohh the smoothie mix is SO good isn’t it!! I had loads of samples in Whole Foods
Good luck on the hot run!
That vega mix is seriously good. I’m on my 2nd bag of chocolate, and I want to buy the vanilla almond. I can’t get enough of it.
Honestly, nothing beats farmer’s market food. Although banjo man would drive me batty, lol
Mmm. Pumpkin chocolate chip muffins might be my favorite kind. My best friend’s mom used to make this amazingly rich chocolate chip pumpkin bread, and would make me extra loaves in college. They’re just the treat on a cold autumn afternoon, with a cup of hot coffee or tea. Can’t wait til autumn.
Mmmmmmm…a SIAB! My favorite! I think I’m addicted!
LOVE the farmers market photos. Beautiful!
Love that farmer’s market!
Jenn
Have fun at the music/beer festival, sounds like fun!
Those turtle biscuits (?) are the cutest thing ever. I hope you got one!
Beautiful sunflowers and tomatoes. Also, a pumpkin chocolate chip muffin sounds heavenly.
Ohh, that is the first time I have seen pasture-raised meat! I just started reading a book called
“Eating Animals” by Jonathon Foer and heard about it there but have never seen it. Sounds like the best bet. Has anyone else read that book?
As a vegetarian and lover of all books food-related, I love that book and appreciate all the information it had. I thought it was so thoughtful- some of it so compelling, I was literally crying while I read it.
Yes, I most definitely had tears in my eyes during some parts. I think everyone should read it!
Your farmers market look like so much fun! The farmers market in my area has such limited hours and vendors I never get to go! Maybe I should drive to another town. lol
First of all, pumpkin chocolate chip! I am definitely going to have to recreate that one at home….Yum!
A trip to the farmers market is always fun…does yours go all year round? We have quite a few farmers markets here where I live in CA and only one of them is open all year round.
Haha, at first glance, I thought you were having beer for breakfast
Sounds like a perfect Saturday to me!
Haha, is that a…ventriloquist?? That’s amazing!
I <3 farmers markets- looks like C-Ville has a good one!
I’ve been following your blog for months now but just had my first SIOB this morning! Thanks for the inspiration!
I wish the GH near my house wasn’t so lame – they barely have any baked goods. That muffin looks incred. Very excited to try my Vega – likin’ your combo : )
That looks like such a fun farmers market, all the ones near me are on the smallish size.
Also that muffin sounds very delicious. enjoy your hot run!
What cute little bread creatures….matt’s are better
I love farmer’s markets. I never feel guilty about spending money on local farms.
I wish Washington had that kind of variety of heirloom tomatoes around locally!
Oh the farmer’s market…ours was rained out this morning! I really wanted to go. Glad you had a great morning! Enjoy your run and the festival!
cutest turtle rolls ever – i have a thing about turtles…kinda like you and bears…
i haven’t tried the chocolate vega shake and go, but i really like the mango. only mind didn’t come with a scoop – i have to measure out MYSELF….:)
I have to scoop with a spoon too – I just say a “scoop” to indicate two spoonfuls
beautiful pictures of the farmer’s market!
I love seeing the very first sings of pumpkin. Makes me actually excited for fall.
That little stuffed goat is adorable!! You always seem to find the best farmers markets around you!
love all of your pictures! That pumpkin muffin looks delicious with chocolate chips. I may just have to add some in the next time I cook up my pumpkin loaf
I’m jealous that your farmer’s market has meat vendors. I really want to start buying my meat from local farmers, but I have no idea how to go about it!
Great photos from the farmer’s market – always so much awesome stuff to see!
Pumpkin muffins! I can’t wait for all of the pumpkin flavored items to come out in the next few weeks.
I’ve also heard that Cville is one of the best places in the country to live. Now I know why: super cute farmers markets!
I had a very similar breakfast! But I didn’t have any spinach : ( Need to buy more!
those sunflowers are beautiful!
OK, is that Banjo man’s underwear that is showing? Too funny! I’d love to get to our Farmer’s Market here but the parking is crazy. I need one that I can walk or bike to as well.
ps-did you happen to see my ps yesterday asking for other blogs to read for the “older mom of teens?” I’ll never, never stop reading yours (love it), but I bet you won’t be commenting often about high school, pre-menopause, etc. (So I’m older than you, but younger than your parents.)
I don’t know of any off the top of my head! Someone else commented to you though
Thanks. I’ll check it out. I’m just thinking there must be a whole group of moms of teen bloggers out there, but I’m just not sure how to find them. I do love Pioneer Woman and Simply This That and the Other.
Yay! You got a shot of Maggie’s pottery!
Oh the farmers market pictures are amazing!!! Cannot wait to get my DSLR!!!
Those little turtle pastries look awesome! I need one!!
Love the pictures! my favorite part of the week is going to the farmer’s market!
i thought that goat was real for a minute- ha! looks like such fun!
Have fun at the beer and music festival! I guess that could sorta be compared to the Blues & BBQ festival here in Charlotte?? Always fun
haha i love all the random placements of animals all over the place! it gives it such a nice touch
i’ve been hearing a lot of good reviews about the vega mix. i should get me some…
The row of tomatoes looks so good, love farmers markets.
Is that…turtle shaped bread?
In any case, my heart “awww’d”.
Looks like a great day!
the market was pretty great this morning…love the banjo man, too! i was excited about the gorgeous tomatoes everywhere, and my shenandoah coffee
only $1! maybe i’ll see you guys down there one saturday. enjoy the festival.
That spoon is gorgeous! Take your bike to your local bike shop for a fixin’…perhaps buy the tools and tube and have ‘em give you a quick lesson. It’s super easy to do, and totally empowering in a miss-independent/miss-fix it/I can do anything kind of way. Just sayin’
I love the beautiful photos. Especially the turtle!
Those little sheep cookies are so cute!
Three cheers for pumpkin season being just around the corner!! Pumpkin muffins, bread, truffles, pie, pancakes, oatmeal, smoothies, LIFE! yay
That little deer-creature thing is adorable! Almost as pretty as your pumpkin muffin, but not quite
i loved the stuffed bread! i thought it was a sheep, he looks so cute!! all smily. i’d struggle more to eat that guy than a non-grass fed beef
The Vita-Mix! I’ve had my eye on one of those for a few years now. Do you find that you use it all the time? Smoothies, soups, salsa, etc? I am trying to find a way to convince my husband I NEED one
I don’t use it all the time, but at least a few times a week.
LOVE your blog! Do you have instructions on how you cold brewed the coffee? Thanks!
Deb
Thanks Debbie.
We just put the grounds in the french press and fill with cold water. In the fridge overnight and then press.
Sadly our french press broke so we can’t do this anymore!
