Three mile sprint run around the neighborhood with husband: 210 calories.
An hour of lawn mowing: 315 calories.
41 minutes of scrubbing the kitchen floor by hand: 124 calories.
A wonderful sunny Saturday spent with your husband: priceless!
Great morning! We got all of our chores done. The house is spotless. The lawn has diagonal stripes:
I am very pleased with the floors. I did it in three steps: 1) I hand-scrubbed them with a scouring pad dipped in soapy water and then 2) I wiped them clean with a wet cloth that I rinsed every few sections. Lastly 3) I mopped on some OrangeGlo polish.
Despite all the activity, I wasn’t even that hungry for lunch at 3:30 when we were finally showered! We did have a late breakfast (9:30/10 ish) though. I decided to have a GREEN lunch.
Leftover salad from last night (arugula with peppers, walnuts + feta) drizzled with honey + EVOO and some wasabi peas.
And leftover split pea soup (which was more like a thick dal than a soup)
Seltzer
Part of my “keep it simple” plan is to have less parts to my meals. I often get carried away with side dishes to achieve balance. I considered having a slice of bread and a pear with this lunch (to get all the food groups in!) but you do not need ALL of the food groups at every meal to get good nutrition Kath!
I also had a celery with Kelsey’s pimento cheese that Matt had out and a bite of his killer giant sandwich.
And to cleanse my palate after lunch – a Tales Of Expansion biscotti bite!

We are going to go read in the hammock now
I’m having so much fun just staying at home and NOT doing any school work today! And I can’t believe it’s only Saturday. Totally feels like a Sunday.

It looks like you are having such a nice day
I’m glad your enjoying some time with Matt!
I often think that I need to have more components to my lunch as well… this happens a lot when I am at work- moreso if I am just having lunch at home. No idea why!
Enjoy your Saturday night!
Kath You inspire me to go home and scrubb my floors when I get back from Boston!!! Also I love your house, its too cute. Have fun in the hammock, and good luck with keeping it simple, I know you can do it!
Hi, im a reader of your blog. I often seeing you burn 500-800 calories extra each day becuase you are so active. I was just wondering how many calories you have to eat in order to maintain your weight im curious. It seems like you would have to eat a ton!
Sorry for the random question, but im just really curious.
I’m happy to see someone else gets geeked up about clean floors. Mine are my passion. “What’s sticky on the floor?!?” is my new catchphrase.
Enjoy the rest of your day!
Ooo I’m so jealous of your lawn cutting!
I love cutting the grass but don’t live in a place with a lawn to cut anymore.
I’m with you on the eating simple… I need to stop the mindless, unnecessary grazing. I do it ALL the time! Good thing to work on this spring!
Enjoy the lovely clean floors
Our sun was gone all day, so it was just gray and gloomy!
Your soup looks very yummy!
Wasn’t it a beautiful day today? Shame that tomorrow will be cloudy and rainy. =(
I should have done my yardwork today too! Heheh.
Lunch looks awesome! I’m totally with you on the “keep it simple” concept, although I’ll admit that sometimes it’s actually HARDER than making several different dishes!
Wow, look at those floors!
You crack me up with the diagonal stripes on the lawn – I’ll mention that to my dad next time he mows our 2.5 acres!
I love burning calories by doing housework! You’ve inspired me to go do some scrubbin’.
Awesome job!
Honey and EVOO sounds really good for a dressing! Glad you’re enjoying your Saturday!! My poor hammock was torn down last summer when a tornado hit – this post reminded me to get a new one, ASAP!
You’re a girl after my own heart, Kath! I’m a clean freak and the hand scrubbing really is the best way to do it!
Sounds like a fabulous day!
I need to find some wasabi peas.
I just finshed cleaning the whole house. My knees are killing me though from scrubbing the floor. My mom used to be a cleaning lady so she makes me do everything she used to do…because it’s the only way to make sure it’s really clean! haha
Wow, you are definitely having a productive day! Good for you to just let things go today and enjoy the beautiful weather and great company (the husband). Those floors look amazing!
Hope you enjoy the rest of your Saturday! Reading in the hammock = total relaxtion
So jealous of your beautiful weather!
Enjoy it!

Yay for a super productive/school work free day!! I’m jealous of your hammock time – not quite there yet here in Boston!
will you come clean my floors??? seriously!
and i love active saturdays.
what a great day!
I am totally right there with you on the “keep it simple” idea- I have been feeling so “yuck” lately with all the celebrations and enjoying food and not being so mindful of good foods. It’s been fun, but I’m getting back to my normal healthy routines and its already feeling great.
)
I love that you don’t rid yourself with guilt- just move on & get moving (and get a clean house while you’re at it
Ahh…another person with a big yard. It takes me 1.5-2 hours to mow my lawn.
Actually, I think it’s kind of fun. Except for the hills.
Time with my man IS priceless. You were such a busy bee today! Have a great night!
Looks like a hugely productive day! And, to me, even scrubbing the floors can be fun if I’m spending time with my sweet husband!
Great job you have got so much achieved! You really inspire to Clean too you know!!
Looks like you accomplished a lot today and had a great time! Love your GREEN lunch.
It’s such a relief to have a lot of work done, isn’t it? You really got a lot of work done today. Bravo!
Megan ,
I don’t consistently burn that many – usually its on the weekends when we have nice weather and I want to be outside. I used to always eat back my exercise calories (see the NET calories info on the FAQ page) but now I am trying to approach it more as a squiggly line. I might not always eat enough, but I certainly overeat as well, so it all balances out. If I were training for an event that had me burning that much everyday, I would definitely keep a tighter watch on calories to ensure I got enough over time.
Kath
I’m glad you had a stellar Saturday!!

btw, i love the “keep it simple” food plan — that’s what i need to be working on, too!
