I live in Charlottesville, Virginia with my husband Matt and our son Mazen, who was born September 7, 2012. Blogging here is my full time job. I also write about motherhood at Baby KERF and motherhood and health at Real Health. My husband runs a bakery, Great Harvest Bread Co. here in Cville. Read more about opening our bakery here! We love all there is to do in Charlottesville – check out my Cville page for recaps of local restaurant and activities.
I started blogging in March of 2006 at Calorie King as I set out to lose 30 pounds. A year and a half later, at the request of family and friends, I decided to start a photo blog of my recipes and meals. I began blogging at Blogspot in September 2007, which then moved to WordPress, and finally to my own domain, KathEats.com. After working in public relations for a few years, I went back to school to become a Registered Dietitian in 2008.
For five years, I blogged three times a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can see highlights of years of blogging this page. In addition to food, recipes and life recaps, I have pages on oatmeal, blogger events, travel across the world (to Africa with Lipton Tea!), races, home organization, photography, blogging and groceries.
After Mazen was born, I slipped back to blogging once a day, and then in January 2013 I switched my format from diary style to topics with slices of life here and there. Read some of my nutrition-focused posts on this page. You can subscribe to KERF here – I hope you’ll stick around!
If you’re a company or brand seeking partnerships: I’m open to all kinds of creative ideas. Shoot me an email and let’s chat.
I am not accepting guest posts at this time except from dietitians. And pretty pretty please do not add me to your press release list.
