You are here: Home / Weekend / Happy New Year!!

August 17, 2009

Happy New Year!!

Summit Summer is officially over for me. The last suitcase has been unpacked. School starts in….9 days!?!??!

It was the summer of my life, but also left me worn out! I’m ready to be a regular ole weekender again.

Here are some better photos of this morning’s oatmeal brunch.

Before my mix-ins

A two-hour easy flight later…. husband was there to pick me up!! He even brought the mail in the car – what a fun surprise!!

I got home at 2PM and had been dreaming of a veggie + cottage cheese salad bowl the whole flight.

IMG_0939 (480x640)

I mixed about a cup of Daisy cottage cheese with a cup or so of chopped carrot, green pepper, zucchini and Pink Lady apple. Plus a bit of black pepper, sriratcha and malted barley.

IMG_0940 (480x640)

Served with a few Spicy 3 Pepper Old London Melba toasts, a free sample box I received while I was gone!

You Didn’t Hafta

JENN – you really didn’t have to!!!! As you probably know Jenn and Dustin moved KERF for me a few weeks ago and she said she wanted to send me something. I had no idea what it would be – a new server box perhaps? A new blogging program on a CD. You can imagine my squeal as I opened this – even better!

IMG_0941 (640x480)

I’ll be chomping Barney Butter for the next year 🙂 She even knew I liked crunchy the best 🙂

Thank you Jenn!! And you really, really didn’t hafta!

***

One of my best friends from high school is in Charlotte this weekend and while the timing isn’t perfect, I knew we had to get together tonight, so she’s on the way! We’re doing an old school slumber party 🙂 Perhaps we’ll break out the video camera like the olden days and make a music video!?

See you tonight!

    Hi Kath,

I was wondering how do I get my name to highlight or whatever you would call it so that people could click on my name and find my blog?

I am logged into my blog when I place comments. Some blogs it works on and some it doesn’t.

    Most appreciated,

    Pam

Thanks to you I’ve become a cottage cheese + veggie addict! I also use your recipe for tuna salad with cottage cheese – it’s great with True North Almond Crisps 🙂

    Thanks Kath!

Hilarious – my friends and I did the same thing! Dance routines and recording ourselves singing to Mariah Carey using a tape recorder were also fun past times of my youth. Ha, so dorky!!

And your salad sounds divine! I never actually thought of mixing veggies with cottage cheese for a lunch, but I really, really like the sound of that for a cool summer meal! 😀

thanks for that “have faith” message! it’s hard to visualize that eating less & exercising more will actually bring results, since it takes so many weeks of being consistent before you start noticing changes. just the message i needed to hear!

HA…my friends and I totally made videos of ourselves dancing around and lip synching in high school. So fun! My BFF and I still bust out our old pom pom videos and make our husbands watch. I don’t think they are amused as we are! :>
Have fun catching up with your old friend!
And enjoy the cottage cheese, that looks like the kind of dish I would like to make with cottage cheese!

I love those little packets of almond/peanut butter. So convenient! I put my PB in a tiny Tupperware, and it’s just not the same (although probably a tad more eco-friendly I guess…right?).

I liked your post on gather, especially the title. Gottahavefaith was my online handle while I was losing weight, and it was also my motto. I think that having complete blind faith in myself and in the changes I was making was absolutely essential to my eventual success losing weight. In the end, I think that having faith in the process prepared me to be content with whatever the results ended up being. At this point, I’m thrilled with where I ended up, but I know that a younger me might have been a lot pickier about my results.

I agree with your latest Gaterh post. I read a book on trust recently and one of the biggest things to be able to trust others is to trust yourself. That means making and keeping promises in yourself and I think with that comes having faith and believing in yourself.
