I travel with one now
Ever since my mom sponsored my first trip to BlogHer in 2008, we’ve talked about doing a girls trip here again. When we found out it was in NYC, the decision was made. You don’t have to write a blog to go to BlogHer. You just have to love blogging, and they do
The swag bags were pretty fun! We did early check in – can’t wait till the conference starts tomorrow!
After check in we found a perfect little salon – Stage Nails on 8th Ave between 54 + 55 Ave.
I went for bright coral orange!! BOLD and unlike me. For the party atmosphere
AND on my fingers!! I NEVER get manicures (I’ve only had one other in my life) and went with orange fingers. I’m loving them!! Typing on this laptop is extra fun. Let’s just hope they don’t chip!
I went down to Sabrina‘s room, which is just under ours! Check out her sweet bags
We loaded up in a cab and headed to OpenSky!!
It was QUITE the happenin’ party!!
I sipped some white wine…
Played with my homies
Ate a few snacks…
Hey, there’s me!!
And me again!!
Sisters!! Pam and her sister!
And then did a tasting…of things to come to my shop. GET EXCITED!!
REALLY excited!
!!!!!
We departed OpenSky and headed to AOL’s Blogger’s Night Out for a swanky swankfest.
Finally got some "dinner" in the form of a chicken tender and corn salad that was perhaps the best fried chicken bite I’ve ever had! It was so FRESH (and it was freshly made by a cooking demo by Kitchen Daily)
Some goat cheese + honey bites
Larbs, Mom and I shared a few drinks…
Champagne, and this cocktail:
Which was delicious!
I drank it down like water though (and shared with mom)
So I decided to actually get a water – a sign I was thirsty more than I wanted alcohol!
We enjoyed a handful of realllllllly yummy mini cupcakes – vanilla, chocolate, cookie dough, PB&J, carrot cake flavors – and a bite of watermelon
Thanks for the fun party
AOL!
We walked a long [painful = heels] walk home and are cozied up for bed (3 to a room!) so we can start fresh for the conference tomorrow. Might squeeze in a run too!
Nite.

Pedicures and chicken fingers. I think you just had my perfect day.
Can’t wait to hear more about BlogHer – I’d love to attend one day!
what a busy ,fun day!
Looks like a lot of fun! I’ve never heard of a fried chicken tender be described as “fresh” before- must have been really good
Can’t wait to see those things come to your shop! Did they have a bunch of different samplings or just the few?
“Fresh” fried chicken?! Count me in! That looks and sounds amazing, and oh, I DID get excited for your Open Sky tasting!!! I can’t wait to hear more about your trip & hanging with your entourage
Looks like a great day…especially with family! Enjoy your time there and I love the color on your nails! So fun! Have a great night, Kath!
WOW those are some great eats!!! i can see myself eating as much as i can of that incredible friend chicken and the goat cheese and honey bites. yum!
I must go next year! Looks like a blast!!!
What a fun day! I can’t wait to go next year as well
Looks great! The orange nails are cute. One of the paradoxes of NYC is that manis and pedis are so cheap (relatively), when everything else is so darn expensive.
Looks like so much fun. Noting this for next year…
Everything looks like so much fun! So many events to go to, so many people to see, and of course, so much delicious food to eat.
I am definitely going to some conventions next year, I’m missing out like crazy.

NYC looks so fun!! Glad you had the chance to spend time with your mom and sister, too!
Eeep, I can’t wait to find out about those nut butters!! You guys must be having such an amazing time… one day I might be able to justify an across-the-world ticket to join in?!?!

Larb’s ring is sooo pretty.
That’s my mom’s hand!
It sounds like you had an awesome night! I am excited to see what new nut butters will be making an appearance in your shop – the ones you tasted look super delish – was one chocolate flavored?

Remember the good old days of 1996 when AOL was what everyone used for internet. I can still here the chiming of the sign in….aahhhh dial up.
Sounds like so much fun!!! How cool your mom/Larbs get to go to the events too!
I love your mani/pedi colour! I’m sporting a similar shade on my feet right now!
This cracks me up! All this Hells Kitchen – Stage Nails – 54th Street talk – you’re in my ‘hood! I probably ran right by you on the reservoir this morning!!
Those cupcakes have got to be from Cupcakes by Melissa! I love them!!!!!!!
I’m so curious as to what coconut ball-looking thing is!
oh my goodness in the fingernail polish picture, to whom does the other hand belong to? that ring is absolutely STUNNING. i love antique looking jewelry like that!
PS totally jealous of all the bloggie events!
Sami, It’s mine. Belonged to one of my mom’s aunts.
if you are still here (in NYC) tomorrow, it is SUMMER STREETS!!!! Sounds like it would be right up your alley. You can rent a bike and ride through a lot of NYC and sight-see (they close off main roads) and there are lots of side events like stretching and yoga and bootcamp. See Here: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/summerstreets/html/route/route.shtml
Enjoy!
