August 5, 2010

I travel with one now 😉

IMG_9171 (640x427)

Ever since my mom sponsored my first trip to BlogHer in 2008, we’ve talked about doing a girls trip here again. When we found out it was in NYC, the decision was made. You don’t have to write a blog to go to BlogHer. You just have to love blogging, and they do

IMG_9181 (640x427)

The swag bags were pretty fun! We did early check in – can’t wait till the conference starts tomorrow!

IMG_9170 (640x427)

After check in we found a perfect little salon – Stage Nails on 8th Ave between 54 + 55 Ave.

I went for bright coral orange!! BOLD and unlike me. For the party atmosphere

IMG_9178 (640x427)

AND on my fingers!! I NEVER get manicures (I’ve only had one other in my life) and went with orange fingers. I’m loving them!! Typing on this laptop is extra fun. Let’s just hope they don’t chip!

IMG_9177 (640x427)

I went down to Sabrina‘s room, which is just under ours! Check out her sweet bags :)

IMG_9182 (640x427)

We loaded up in a cab and headed to OpenSky!!

IMG_9190 (640x427)

It was QUITE the happenin’ party!!

IMG_9205 (640x427)

IMG_9206 (640x427)

I sipped some white wine…

IMG_9185 (640x427)

Played with my homies

IMG_9186 (640x427)

Ate a few snacks…

IMG_9188 (640x427)

IMG_9193 (640x427)

Hey, there’s me!!

IMG_9189 (640x427)

And me again!!

IMG_9191 (640x427)

Sisters!! Pam and her sister!

IMG_9192 (640x427)

And then did a tasting…of things to come to my shop. GET EXCITED!!

IMG_9195 (640x427)

REALLY excited!

IMG_9196 (427x640)

IMG_9198 (640x427)

IMG_9199 (640x427)

IMG_9203 (640x427)

We departed OpenSky and headed to AOL’s Blogger’s Night Out for a swanky swankfest.

IMG_9208 (640x427)

Finally got some "dinner" in the form of a chicken tender and corn salad that was perhaps the best fried chicken bite I’ve ever had! It was so FRESH (and it was freshly made by a cooking demo by Kitchen Daily)

IMG_9214 (640x427)

Some goat cheese + honey bites

IMG_9228 (640x427)

Larbs, Mom and I shared a few drinks…

IMG_9219 (640x427)

Champagne, and this cocktail:

IMG_9220 (427x640)

Which was delicious!

IMG_9221 (640x427)

I drank it down like water though (and shared with mom)

IMG_9223 (640x427)

So I decided to actually get a water – a sign I was thirsty more than I wanted alcohol!

IMG_9229 (640x427)

We enjoyed a handful of realllllllly yummy mini cupcakes – vanilla, chocolate, cookie dough, PB&J, carrot cake flavors – and a bite of watermelon

IMG_9225 (640x427)

Thanks for the fun party

IMG_9227 (640x427)

We walked a long [painful = heels] walk home and are cozied up for bed (3 to a room!) so we can start fresh for the conference tomorrow. Might squeeze in a run too!

Pedicures and chicken fingers. I think you just had my perfect day.

Can’t wait to hear more about BlogHer – I’d love to attend one day!

2 tanyasdailyproductreviews August 5, 2010 at 9:14 pm

what a busy ,fun day!

3 Mary @ Bites and Bliss August 5, 2010 at 9:15 pm

Looks like a lot of fun! I’ve never heard of a fried chicken tender be described as “fresh” before- must have been really good 😛 Can’t wait to see those things come to your shop! Did they have a bunch of different samplings or just the few?

4 Meg August 5, 2010 at 9:15 pm

“Fresh” fried chicken?! Count me in! That looks and sounds amazing, and oh, I DID get excited for your Open Sky tasting!!! I can’t wait to hear more about your trip & hanging with your entourage 😉

5 Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) August 5, 2010 at 9:16 pm

Looks like a great day…especially with family! Enjoy your time there and I love the color on your nails! So fun! Have a great night, Kath!

What a fun day! I can’t wait to go next year as well :)

9 Eileen August 5, 2010 at 9:28 pm

Looks great! The orange nails are cute. One of the paradoxes of NYC is that manis and pedis are so cheap (relatively), when everything else is so darn expensive.

10 Faith August 5, 2010 at 9:31 pm

Looks like so much fun. Noting this for next year… :)

11 Jenn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) August 5, 2010 at 9:35 pm

Everything looks like so much fun! So many events to go to, so many people to see, and of course, so much delicious food to eat. 😀 I am definitely going to some conventions next year, I’m missing out like crazy. :(

12 Veggielady4life August 5, 2010 at 9:36 pm

14 Janna (Janna's Keeping it Real) August 5, 2010 at 9:38 pm

How fun is that!!! I love living vicariously through all of you lovely ladies!

61 Kim August 6, 2010 at 10:09 pm

if you are still here (in NYC) tomorrow, it is SUMMER STREETS!!!! Sounds like it would be right up your alley. You can rent a bike and ride through a lot of NYC and sight-see (they close off main roads) and there are lots of side events like stretching and yoga and bootcamp. See Here: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/summerstreets/html/route/route.shtml
