Boy that holiday went by fast! I went from oatmeal and salad at home to some Charlottesville snow (!!!) to a speedy 3.5 hour drive and we arrived to a festive Christmas Eve party full of all kinds of foods & family!
Homemade fudge our sweet neighbors made!
My mom is a real grandmother now – there are bowls of candy and chocolate scattered about!
Presents!
Christmas Eve buffet
Make-your-own sandwiches
Christmas Charades!
{I won!}
Matt A’s mom doing “Friendly Beast” – this was the beast part!
Dessert buffet
This ice cream is the BOMB!
Christmas Morning!
Maze was up at 6am (Santa came! Santa came!) We have had a very choppy two nights of sleep waking up every 2 hours. Matt took Maze down on Christmas morning and let me sleep in another hour of solid nap bliss so I felt fine for the rest of the day.
Stories with daddy
Christmas brunch featured Great Harvest swirl breads, scrambled eggs, maple sausage and fruit salad
Then it was present time!
Till everything was opened
These two books were on my Christmas list. Glad Santa supports bloggers!
Matt and I gave books of Mazen’s first 3 months to all the grandparents : )
Santa brought some really fun toys!
And he brought me new running shoes – which I took for a 26 minute test drive with Larbs and Matt when I woke up : ) This is my fourth pair of Asics 2160/2170s.
We played all afternoon. Went for a walk. Nibbled on Christmas foods. Prepared Christmas dinner.
Until cocktail hour -
We had mushroom bread pudding (Karen’s recipe!), mom’s corn pudding, salad made by me, and a spaghetti squash dish
Matt was in charge of the grilled and sliced sirloin
It wouldn’t be a formal dinner without Great Harvest Virginia rolls!
The dinner was incredible, but the dessert – long awaited!
Larbs’s favorite Durham bakery, Carolina Cake Co. These cakes are absolutely incredible. It’s all about the great buttercream!
I think I had 3 slices!?
Went to bed stuffed with happiness <3
Merry Christmas to you all. Thanks for being a part of our adventures!

Thanks for sharing your beautiful Christmas with us! I could feel the love and joy!
Gorgeous photos, Kath.
Let us know what you think of Young House Love! Is that one of your regular blog reads?
Sounds like a wonderful holiday! Glad you and your family enjoyed and blessed Christmas!
I can’t believe Christmas is already over! It flew by.
1.) That Blue Bell Christmas Cookie Ice Cream looks amazing. I want some right now.
2.) So jealous of your snow. All we’re getting in Richmond is rain. :/
You can have ours! I’m in Ohio & we’re supposed to be getting 6-12″…
looks like it was a perfect holiday!
What an awesome day! My family is huge, which is fun, but I would like to experience an intimate daylong holiday with a smaller family as well!
Looks like a wonderful time. Its got to be a blast having a baby around!
Glad you had an amazing holiday and got to give yourself a little blogging break too.
The desserts are making me drool. Red velvet cake is my FAVORITE. As I sit here typing this I am one week past my due date, and, given my current appetite, I’m pretty sure I could beat you on the 3 slices, if that cake were to be placed in front of me right now. I would devour it!
red velvet with buttercream, fresh rolls, the fudge, the fourth pair of the same shoes (im super loyal to air vomero’s), the presents (Tom’s box, A.T. Loft, etc…nice!), the charades, Matt’s book (love it!) — Kath this whole post has me smiling! Glad it was such a great holiday for you all!
Love the snowman in your oatmeal!! Too cute.
And what a wonderful-sounding Christmas. I’m glad you enjoyed your time with family.
oh my goodness, that cake does look delicious! I’m glad you all had a great holiday!
What a beautiful holiday spent with family!! <3
My daughter started her four-month sleep regression a week early. Could that be it? I hope it’s a quick regression and over fast.
Merry (belated) Christmas – though, technically, it’s still Christmas on 26th, right
?!
Great you had a slightly white Christmas at least! We had none around here. It must have been awesome to celebrate your first Christmas as a family of three. Mazen is getting cuter and cuter every time I check your blog which is … often, ahem
…
Are those chewbeads you are wearing (Green necklace?) I have white and black ‘pearl’ chewbead necklaces and love them!
We also gave photo books to all the grandparents for Christmas!! That will probably be their Christmas gift every year for a long time…. Who did you use to make yours? I used Shutterfly and was pretty impressed!
Yep! And shutterfly…like it a lot!
How fun! Maze is going to love that toy sandwich kit in a couple of years.
baby’s first xmas! i’m such a grandma – i have candy with me (and around the house) at all times!
We play charades every year too! How fun! Merry Christmas!
What a wonderful first Christmas for Maze! Happy holidays!

So glad you were able to have such a great Christmas. We always spend Christmas Day with my Dad’s family and it’s a huge affair. I prefer something more intimate like this. Such great pictures! The cake looks delicious!
All of your pictures look so warm and cozy! Looks like you had a great Christmas Kath!
What a beautiful Christmas celebration with family! Love the books! Santa knows what’s up
Your Christmas looks beautiful and very tasty as well
Merry Christmas! Yay for getting 2170′s, they are the best runners ever.
I am not a grandma but I put out the same (wrapped) candy for our Christmas party. Oh and we used the same snowman plates too
Merry Christmas!
Love the snowmen plates! (Well and the candy too!)
Love the Mr.Snowman Oats!!!
Merry CHRISTmas, Kath!
Such a gorgeous family.
I wanted a new running shoe so bad, unfortunately I didnt get one, so I guess I will be buying one myself
Was the Karen on the charades list your Matt’s mom? Fun to have all the grandparents there!
Of course!
Looks like a lovely Christmas! Abundant family fun and fantastic food.
