Younger As Ever

IMG_0122Blog

That thawed out previously frozen pumpkin sure is disgusting. But amazingly, it blends really well.

In pancakes – strike no

In oatmeal, smoothies – 2 strikes yes

IMG_0120Blog

IMG_0117Blog

This morning I blended together 1 cup of Kefir and 1/2 a cup of pumpkin with half a banana. Simple smoothie perfect. Kefir really is the perfect smoothie ingredient – it’s like adding both milk and yogurt in one. Although it is pretty tangy so this smoothie was anything but sweet.

IMG_0111Blog

Toppings included a mix of my two favorite toppings ever: Cville Cluster and Apple Streusel teacake. Please notify the Great Harvest staff that I should not be permitted to take home an entire streusel-topped teacake without the assistance of company in my house. I have zero self control and overdosed on streusel topping. Too much, too early in the day!

I’ve had okay luck with using unthawed pumpkin puree in things…but so far have only used it in dips and smoothies. Nothing like cookies or oatmeal but for me, no issues.

Streusel topping has to be one of the HARDEST things to resist–it’s not just you! Put a streusel cake or pie in my kitchen, and I guarantee the topping will be gone before there’s even a dent made in the dessert itself. Oops >_>

I can take down a muffin top pretty easily, as in, I do it when I get a muffin. I don’t get muffins that often so I don’t really worry about it. Plus, I balance it out later with eating a bit less or less carbs. I wish we had a Great Harvest here, your Great Harvest. I miss that Savannnah Bar I tried! At least I have a House of Bread here, although it’s not as good.
