Year End Brex

Another delish Marsh Harbor brex! I made some more microwave banana rolled oats for our dreary day topped with fresh berries, granola and some of that freshly ground almond butter from the co-op yesterday.

IMG_2663 (640x427)

There’s that almond butter under there!

IMG_2666 (640x427)

Coffee. For food + beverage pairing.

IMG_2662 (640x427)

IMG_2661 (427x640)

Our new inn friend wanted me to put his pastry on the blog as the opposite of real food 🙂

Your friend’s pastry doesn’t look very filling, but at least there’s some fruit alongside it. I think a doughnut or pastry for breakfast is A-OK every once in awhile. It makes things feel like vacation!
    Happy New Year 🙂

My mom always pulls what your inn friend does. “And now here’s what NOT to eat.” She thinks she’s so funny. I think deep down she wants her own blog. She also tries to say “That’s what she said,” but she puts the emphasis on the wrong words, so it always comes out, “That’s what she SAID.” instead of “That’s what SHE said.” It’s very much like Christopher Walken.

hi there! still addicted to your blog! a quick question: why almond butter? is it for taste or for nutrition? have you tried other nut butters (i.e cashew butter)? are almonds healthier than peanuts?

i need all the vicarious nut butter experience i can get because i live in France and all we have here is overpriced Skippy. et ça me fait triste.

    Hi Kath,

I’m a new visitor– Rod Hyson’s wife. Wish I could have been there at The Marsh Harbour. Rod told me what a wonderful and interesting family you all are. I love the photographs— Christmas ones, and all the others. You definitely have a talent. Would love to hear some comments about how you get the photographs— lighting, composition etc. Have a great new year and I look forward to meeting you on Bald Head Island.

Hi Julie! Thanks for stopping by. We’ve had such a lovely vacation here at the Inn. Wish we could have met you during our stay. Thanks for the photography compliments – it’s all about the DSLR camera, as much natural light as possible, my Canon 50mm lens (see the Q+A page for more on that). I’d love to give you a lesson in person sometime 🙂
