Another delish Marsh Harbor brex! I made some more microwave banana rolled oats for our dreary day topped with fresh berries, granola and some of that freshly ground almond butter from the co-op yesterday.
There’s that almond butter under there!
Coffee. For food + beverage pairing.
Our new inn friend wanted me to put his pastry on the blog as the opposite of real food 🙂

Your friend’s pastry doesn’t look very filling, but at least there’s some fruit alongside it. I think a doughnut or pastry for breakfast is A-OK every once in awhile. It makes things feel like vacation!
Happy New Year 🙂
Doughnuts are the devil! Love them! 🙂
Kath – happy new year! I’ve loved reading about your adventures in 2009 and wish you all the best in the coming year. You certainly have a lot to look forward to!!!

Back to Dillon where Great Harvest is.
And, your friend’s pastry looks pretty yummy to me too!

Such a fabulous year Kath! It’s always amazing to go back and realize how much we’ve accomplished. 🙂 Happy New Year’s Eve!
Love the comparison of your breakfast with the pastry. 😉
A great year; that’s one thing I love about blogging…the ability to go back and see what you were doing … a week, month..YEAR..ago (I’m not there yet, but soon enough). The fruit looks delicoous and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Mama Pea says
My mom always pulls what your inn friend does. “And now here’s what NOT to eat.” She thinks she’s so funny. I think deep down she wants her own blog. She also tries to say “That’s what she said,” but she puts the emphasis on the wrong words, so it always comes out, “That’s what she SAID.” instead of “That’s what SHE said.” It’s very much like Christopher Walken.

Happy New Year! What a great year!
I have to read your Africa posts again. I dream to go there and loved the posts 🙂
Lily @ Lily's Health Pad says

Frogs and [email protected] Paris Food Blog says
hi there! still addicted to your blog! a quick question: why almond butter? is it for taste or for nutrition? have you tried other nut butters (i.e cashew butter)? are almonds healthier than peanuts?
i need all the vicarious nut butter experience i can get because i live in France and all we have here is overpriced Skippy. et ça me fait triste.
It’s all about the taste!
I’ve enjoyed reading your adventures this year, Kath! Wishing you and Matt a happy and healthy 2010!
FYI: I accidentally typed Katheats into google and this popped up:

CRAZY that this info is out there! Just thought you might like to know.
Just for fun, I plugged my own info into that website, and It was completely wrong. Kind of interesting though.
That’s hardly accurate at all.

wow you’ve had such an amazing year!! good luck with your upcoming RD Exam!!
happy new years eve!
I’m a new visitor– Rod Hyson’s wife. Wish I could have been there at The Marsh Harbour. Rod told me what a wonderful and interesting family you all are. I love the photographs— Christmas ones, and all the others. You definitely have a talent. Would love to hear some comments about how you get the photographs— lighting, composition etc. Have a great new year and I look forward to meeting you on Bald Head Island.
Hi Julie! Thanks for stopping by. We’ve had such a lovely vacation here at the Inn. Wish we could have met you during our stay. Thanks for the photography compliments – it’s all about the DSLR camera, as much natural light as possible, my Canon 50mm lens (see the Q+A page for more on that). I’d love to give you a lesson in person sometime 🙂
The RD exam is not exactly challenging. It is designed to test entry level competence. The fail rate is really low.
Best of luck in 2010. I too just discovered your blog this summer and it has become a daily read and inspired me to eat healthier 🙂
Great year kath!!
I love your blog and just wanted to say Happy 2010!! This is the first time I have posted a comment but I have been a faithful reader! LOVE IT!
happy healthy NYE!! 🙂
