We Moved! Our New House

Foodblog-6188

We moved!

If home is where the heart is, mine is somewhere new!!

Foodblog-6176

We moved! We sold our house, packed everything into boxes and moved across town into The House Worth Moving For. While we weren’t really planning to buy a new house this year, it ticked all of our “must have” boxes and just felt so right. We gained an extra bedroom, an office and lots of space to grow into for many years to come.

Foodblog-6180

It was very bittersweet to say goodbye to Cottage KERF, where we brought Mazen home from the hospital and entertained so many friends, and we will miss our screened-in porch so much, but we absolutely love the new place. I don’t plan on doing any grand house tours, but you can be assured this house is Home Neat Home : )

Foodblog-6183

And the best news? The new place has great natural light in the kitchen and dining room! Breakfast this morning was raspberry swirl French toast plus banana, blackberries and almond butter.

Foodblog-6166

We only had one mishap on moving day – a shelf that was missing a peg sent an antique champagne glass crashing down among all the dozens of others about to be put away. By some stroke of luck, it was the only glass that shattered!

Tell me your moving stories!

Congrats on your move! We built our house 8 years ago while I was 5 months pregnant with our third. It was MISERABLE packing up and selling a house while pregnant and doing daycare, ugh. My only big story was 3 days after we moved in it was Thanksgiving and our basement flooded, because the tubing on our water softener was never tied down….

Wow, congratulations on moving! We purchased a home when we first got married and unfortunately have never been able to sell it when we relocated to NC. It has actually turned into a great rental property, but makes us hesitant to purchase another home! The only mishap we had when we moved was the movers broke the glass on our coffee table. It ended up not being that big of a deal because they replaced it.

Congratulations! Moving is always stressful. When I moved into my apartment almost 6 years ago, my queen sized box spring wouldn’t go up the staircase (I lived on the second floor) so my then-boyfriend (now husband) and one of our friends had to tie rope around it and lift it up over my deck. When my husband and I moved into our house two years ago, the box spring got down via rope…and then wouldn’t go up our staircase in our house putting dents into the sheetrock. We ended up selling the box spring and purchasing a split queen box spring. I echo everyone else in saying that we want to see pictures of the house.

My hubby and I moved 6 times in the first 9 years of marriage: From Utah to China, to Texas, to California, to Japan, to Singapore and then we lived in Hong Kong where we stayed for many years. We raised our 4 kids in Asia, then moved back to Utah and it seems like every time we moved, my husband was out of town!! Our most recent move was to Taiwan but now we are in the States again. Moving is a pain but it is also such an exciting adventure!!! I loved every place we lived. Congratulations!!

I was moving out of my garden apartment and could not get my sofa through the door and up the stairs. My future father-n-law had to cut my sofa apart with a saw. Yes, I had to trash my very first sofa I bought with a saw because we could not leave it in the apartment and the landlord did not want it. How the heck did the furniture delivery people get it down there I will never know. lol!

Congrats on the new house! I hope you change your mind and will share some photos. I loved looking at your great decorating and organization ideas you had in your house. I was trying to convince my hubby we needed a porch like yours (it still hasn’t happened!)

Congratulations on your move!! I’ve been a reader since before you became an RD and I have found so much inspiration from you nutritionally, budgetarily, and decorationally (I don’t think that’s a word). I think people love your blog because you are so put together–and part of that has to do with how you run your home. Anyway, I will miss that a lot from your blog. I do realize you probably feel a need to retain some privacy for the sake of your family. It’s a tough call to make. But many congrats either way. It sounds like your move has brought nothing but joy to your lives. 🙂

Congrats! I hope you’ll share some pictures once you get settled. I love seeing where my favorite bloggers cook the meals they show us, write the posts we love to read, and play with the kids!

Congrats on your new house! How fun and exciting! We moved from FL to PA years ago and discovered that we were missing many things including my jewelry box. It didn’t have any high priced items but many things that meant a lot to me. Plus, we think our attic wasn’t even packed. 🙁 Unfortunately we didn’t figure this out until months later. We moved from PA to TX two years ago and you can bet we kept ALL valuables with us this time and made sure we had everything upon delivery. Lesson learned. 😉

Oh congrats!!! I immediately thought “the porch!!” – I love that porch and have it saved in my “dream house” files! I hope your new place makes you just as happy. I’d also LOVE to see Home Neat Home make a comeback, but I understand if you’re not open to that anymore.
